General Fighting Game Discussion

So apparently Rocket Raccoon and Frank West should be released today or tomorrow, Seth Killian tweeted that Rocket Raccoon gets digging, clawing faces, big guns, traps, and tricks while Frank West has photography, drinking, ridiculous weapons, zombies and vomiting.

If you're not a regular listener to SRK's Wakeup Shoryuken podcasts (and you're interested in Marvel), you should listen in on this one. It features Viscant and he talks about the changes in Ultimate which are very insightful.

Oh wow, I had no idea that you needed to pay the $8.95 to see any of the archived Canada Cup footage. That's... pretty much awful....

So, Twitter is blowing up with how much people hated the ads on the stream and I think most of it is valid. Mid match of your main event's grand finals? Pretty terrible.

I don't mind the premium stream thing overall. I have donated to streams before because I like what they do, but apparently the 720p stream was too laggy to use and not allowing non premium users watch archives is terrible.

The fighting game scene can't grow if people can't watch the matches and if they do catch the stream, cutting off the explanations that commentary gives to new players and is pretty lame.[/esportsdrama]

It'll be interesting to see if people can overcome RR's small ranged normals (they look even shorter than VJ's). They gave him some ridiculous methods of getting in, but again that range looks like the killer. Also the mashable hyper vid was put up awhile ago, and it looks like non-level 3s usually give about 50,000 more damage when mashed out. Good thing Max mentioned turbo -- I might even use it (depending on what button(s) we'd have to be pressing).

That video has James Xie, a popular BB vlogger and probably the best CS2 Platinum in the US, playing Relius against a Carl piloted somewhat inexplicably by the well-known Hakumen player Walljumpman. It's worth a watch for some interesting tech, although I have seen Japanese players get better than the 2.5k or so that Xie is getting from most of Relius's combos.
 
So Ultimate is everything I was hoping it'd be. Currently my team is Hulk/Nova/Doom but if I can figure out better people over Hulk and Nova I'll swap for them. Doom in XF3 is godlike though.

I kinda wanna use a team with Wright but he's gonna be a tough one to use. Ultra David said he thinks it's not even worth trying to get into Turnabout and people should just work on Trial mode and use him as a keepaway char :< Frank West seems like he's gonna be awesome though.

Relius is looking pretty fun IMO. only waiting for CSE to come out on the consoles so that i try him out myself...

I'll probably be picking the game up tomorrow, I'm thinking of working a Trish/Wright/Doom team. I've been running through some ideas in my head, really excited to test some stuff.

As for Turnabout mode, can't Wright combo into Objection? I'm definitely worried about him as a character, though, for sure.

edit: oh I see UltraDavid is running Dorm/Wright/Doom. I was thinking that too since I already have a Dorm, but I've always wanted to learn Trish anyway.
 
I wouldn't normally post about a weekday casual stream, but considering Ultimate just came out and there are two tonight...

Team sp00ky is the east coast stream going on right now. Justin is at this stream and if you remember Justin used Wolvy Akuma at his first MvC3 tourney on Week 1, so don't disregard Week 1 tech haha.

Wednesday Night Fights should start later at 12 EST/about 3 hours from this post. Might get to see Combo's Nemesis/Hawkeye/Spencer team or the stuff clockw0rk cooked up when he was working on the game's guide.
