Gimmick Thread!

Bibarel

I've tried out the Bibarel before, I was pretty excited when I found out about his trait. Not quite so much when I learned that you can't go beyond 4x boost, but he is still pretty damn formidable with a Swords Dance and some speed passed to him. I used a Scizor to pass an Agility and Swords Dance, but Ninjask would probably work even better.

I've run some of the calculations, and he can OHKO almost any non-uber after a Swords Dance. There are some that can take one hit, like Metagross, Skarmory, and possibly Dusknoir, but some of those can be beaten with only a power-boosting item. Choice Band pretty much ensures that you will OHKO the first thing you hit.

Return and Waterfall are no-brainers (the 30% flinch from Waterfall would result in even a dead Skarm) and the only Poke that resists both is Empoleon. Dig might be useful for scaring off Metagross, unless he's already picked EQ of course. Superpower beats some Pokemon he might otherwise have trouble with (like Empoleon) at the cost of likely ruining your streak with the attack drop. Amnesia will triple his special D, so that is worth considering also.
I don't know whether that's in response to my post, but that is exactly the build I posted.

However, I'd go for either leftovers to make sure you live, or Life orb. Choice band isn't such a good idea considering you don't want to switch out.

Yeah, it was. Just discussing the possibility of Dig too, and saying that I had tested it and run some numbers and it works pretty awesome. If you suspect your opponent has something that can take a hit and 2HKO Bibarel, then Choice Band may be worth it, because one guaranteed kill is better than none. But with the physical Steel wall down, you'll sweep teams without even the need for an item.

Kangaskahn -Level 1
@No item
Any nature, any EVs
-Subsitute
-Thief
-Endeavor
-Filler
Scrappy

Use with someone who can block/mean look and sleep for guaranteed KOs. (Assuming they don't wake up.) Block, put them to sleep, switch in Kangaskahn, subsitute up and proceed to endeavor their whole team with sandstorm support. For steels/rocks/grounds, thief their item first and THEN endeavor, effectively leaving them at 1 HP unless you're lucky enough to thief again. Catches people by surprise, and they make stupid switches - e.g. switching to a ghost to try and resist endeavor, switching to a sweeper, etc.
You say with Sandstorm support, but wouldn't that kill Kangaskahn too? Unless Substitute avoids sandstorms, but I remember that not happening last gen.

how about...
Hariyama
-Substitute
-Belly Drum
-Reversal
-Stone Edge
Really too slow to do anything, even set this up, but if this could get set up then STABed 200 BP Reversal with its 120 Atk and Belly Drum boost would destroy.

sandstorm does 1/16 damage iirc, and kangaskan will have 13 hp at lvl 1. It will only do 1 damage every turn
Edit: hariyama likes bullet punch on that set, and reversal's base power is 200 only at 1 hp, where you will easily be killed by sandstorm(and to a lesser extent, hail)

But, i believe mean look's effect nullifies if you switch out, you would have to baton pass the mean look over(hence baton pass on a mean-looking umbreon.) and after kangaskhan kills one thing, wouldnt the next thing break the sub, and then kill you if it's a steel/rock/ground?

Howsabouts:

Wailord @ Choice Scarf
- Water Spout
- Selfdestruct
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Wailord is faster as generally given credit for, and with a Scarf he can outspeed a LOT in the lower tiers. Maxed Sp ATK gives one heck of a powerful Water Spout to boot. Surf and Ice Beam are reliable after you taken some damage and Selfdestruct is just cool.

Reversal's power is 200 at under 4%, meaning if you have 8/200 HP eversal will do max damage.

Speedy tiki A.K.A. "The super ineffective, super fast, Elemental punching Easter island head"

Probopass @Mucsle band
Adamant
Att/252 Spd/252
-Rock polish
-Thunder punch
-Fire Punch
-Ice punch

The only thing you'll be doing is 2KOing a scizor with fire punch. This thing learns the elemental punches, so thats the only reason I congired it up. If anyone can actually give me a probopass with this set, I'll trade big. Don't care if you hack it.

Egg Beast

Chansey @ Lucky Punch (Increases CHANSEY'S critical hit ratio)
Jolly
atk/252 speed/252 hp/6

Egg Bomb (Primary sweeping attack)
Double slap (for breaking subs)
Defense curl (cuz it has weak def)
Fire Blast (for steel types)

This thing pretty much kills anything in sight imo.

This is the best post i have seen on here. xD

Skarmory
@Leftovers/Life Orb

Curse
Steel Wing
Night Slash
Drill Peck

Is Curse + Drill Peck illegal?

no it only gets curse from farfetch'd who doesn't learn drill peck so its not legal besides with its lacking special defense you still will be easy to kill with special moves

Skarmory gets Swords Dance now, so use that instead of Curse.

And that Chansey should have Rollout over one of the Normal moves.

Also, I'm very interested in what you guys think of my Omastar set. Does it have potential?

This set wins.

Mind if I use it?

Also, I would post a gimmick set for Tentacruel, but since everything works on him, it's kind of impossible.

Aggron @ Focus Sash
HP/252
Brave
Metal Burst
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Avalanche

Usually will OHKO Sweepers with Fighting, Ground and Water attacks using Metal Burst. Switch out if you're using a Trick Room team, bring him back later to have him punch something in the face, otherwise let him die.

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Impish – 212 HP, 140 Def, 156 SpDef
Synchronize
~ Mean Look
~ Baton Pass
~ Sand-Attack
~ Moonlight

An alternate version of a Mean Look passer. The main idea here is to trap something that can’t really harm you and abuse Sand-Attack afterwards. Sand-Attack is allowed in the metagame, while together with Mean Look, it basically works the same as Double Team. After drastically lowering the opponent’s accuracy, pass the Mean Look on to something with a stat-boosting move, like Dragonite with Dragon Dance, or Garchomp with Swords Dance and start setting up with that move, while your opponent will continually miss you. Dragonite works especially well as an example, as it can also Roost to shed off any damage it may take in the process. If you’ve boosted out your Atk/SpAtk enough, finish off the trapped pokemon and sweep through the rest of your opponent’s team. This strategy requires some luck, but if you can get it to work, you’re in the money.

----

Primeape @ Life Orb
Naïve – 252 Speed, 244 Atk, 12 SpAtk
Vital Spirit
~ Close Combat
~ Stone Edge
~ Overheat
~ Earthquake / U-Turn

This 2HKO’s max HP/min SpDef Skarmory, it’s biggest enemy, with Overheat (the SpAtk drop is factored in, and I also included Leftovers on Skarmory’s side in my calculations). It deals a nice amount of damage with all of it’s other attacks. Earthquake and U-Turn are both solid options.

----

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Hasty – 252 Speed, 252 Atk, 4 HP
Pressure
~ Counter
~ Swords Dance
~ Ice Punch
~ Night Slash

What you’d want to do is either use Swords Dance on the first turn, if you’re expecting a switch, and Counter if you think you’re going to get hit by a physical attack: Counter will OHKO pretty much anything, as almost every physical attack will OHKO Weavile (which will now thus put him at 1 HP, making Counter very effectively). If that physical attack isn’t coming, just keep sweeping with Ice Punch and Night Slash.
It doesn't need any HP EVs, because it will already OHKO Snorlax with Counter, which is the only pokemon with an enormous HP stat and the ability to hit hard with physical attacks.

Opinions?

Gallade @ Leftovers
Impish / 252 HP 200 Def 56 Attack
Protect
Will-O-Wisp
Drain Punch
Night Slash

In a past life, Gallade was a Grass-type Pokemon. Unfortunately, when he became a Fighting/Psychic, he lost Leech Seed.

Will-O will cut down the opponent's attack, perfect for protecting Gallade's fragile Defense rating. Protect buys Gallade a turn for Leftovers recovery, while Drain Punch refills its life. Night Slash works well against ghosts, which are immune to Drain Punch.
