I'm currently trying to IV breed a few Pokemon, and as I'm taking the Pokemon to the guy that will tell you what their IV's are, (In my case, I'm using Pokemon emerald, so the guy at the battle frontier.) what I'm noticing is that if they have a perfect IV, their stats at level five are the same, or so far at least. For instance, when breeding Lotad, at level 5 his hp will be either be 19 or 20, I'm noticing that with a perfect hp IV, it will usually have a 20. for some reason I was under the impression that until level 100 their stats would be random, possibly high or low, depending on the IV, but never a confirmed number at least until level 100. So I'm just looking for a bit of confirmation, because if it's IV's are going to be consistent at level 5, this would make things easier, because then I can be pickier about the the Pokemon that I take to the IV guy, and I don't have to waste my time checking the IV's on ones that I would now know are going to be wrong.

Thank you in advance! :)

The influence of IVs can appear at any level, they are just most noticeable at level 100. At level 100 1 IV = 1 stat point. For example, a Salamence with a 31 IV might have 299 Speed while a Salamence with a 30 IV might have 298 speed. Because stats are so much close together at Lv5, the influence of IVs is a bit harder to notice. The Lotad you are getting with an HP stat of 20 have an IV between 20-31, while the 19s have an IV between 0 and 19.

they're the elite 4 and the professor. you can change your icon in your pss profile to those but you can't actually look like them in game

Thank you, so if the IV is between 20 and 31, the hp will always show up as 20?

1. There are still people who breed for money. However, breeding is much, much easier now, so I'd recommend just playing around with it and doing it yourself.

2. (Assuming you've gotten the VS Recorder) Tunr on your internet n the PSS screen. Then, go into your VS Recorder. they should have a place to enter a code. There are lots of places on the forum where people have posted codes of their battles, so you can enter the code and watch.

3. I haven't tried Nidoking myself, but I'd assume it's about the same that it's been forever. Lots of moves, lots of weaknesses.

4. Axew is very hard to raise. Most Dragon-types take a very long time to evolve, and aren't really strong until levels 40+. Axew follows this. If you're just trying to blow through the game, there's a semi-mandatory gift Pokemon given to you immediately after the third gym that can nuke the game single-handedly.

5. Tiers (to my knowledge) are still being messed with, but my guess is it'll be OU/A tier. Gyarados alone was very good, adding a Mega-evolution with Mold Breaker and no 4x weaknesses only helps. Downside is that aside from RestTalk MGyarados doesn't get any HP or Status recovery, and no item means no leftovers/lum berry/ etc. So while it's good, it's not broken. Thus, OU.

6. Go on the Wifi section and make a post in the Simple Requests thread. There are plenty of people who'd be happy to help.

7. Again, we don't have real tiers yet, but it's possible. Shell Smash works the same it did last generation, although Dragons are more skittish now thanks to Fairies.

8. Not as far as we can tell. It connects you to another person who is on at the same time, but beyond that it's random. Sometimes I can find a time when no one's on and the Wonder Trade fails.

I plan on using pokemon I've bred to battle online, and I know the game sets the team's levels to flat fifty when battling. This affects EVs, but I can't remember how. Isn't it 8 EVs in a stat equals one point? If so, what is the best "translation" for the common 252/252/4 spread given at level 100?

8 EVs in a stat equals one point, but so do 2 IVs or 1 IV and 4 EVs, so the 252/252/4 spread works if the pokemon has an odd number of IVs in the stats being boosted. If the IV is odd, go with 4 more more than a multiple of 8, if even, go with a multiple of 8.

Regarding HP and stealth rock- I'll be using a Noivern with U-Turn, so I want to maximize the amount of times it can switch in and out. Should I mess with the EV investment at all (given that it has a 31 HP IV) or will it be ok with just the 4 leftover EVs?
Edit: answered

When EV training will gaining EVs that puts the count over the 252 maximum mean that some of your EVs are wasted or will it actually stop dead at 252 meaning going a bit over doesn't actually matter.

Actually, it stops at 252 this gen. Try giving your pokemon one of those 1 EV bags or a wing before you max its appropriate stat, and you'll see it cap out at 252. (reset bag works too I guess)

So go crazy with hordes!

If the Noivern has 31 IVs, you want 0EVs in HP to maximize longevity.

Can Snorlax be bred?
If I want to raise a special wall SNorlax after I catch him should I put him in my box until I can EV him?
Where can I find a IV teller/calculator for Pokemon X AND Y

Yes Snorlax can breed. You can EV train right away with the super training, but you might not have an optimal nature or IV's. Metalkid has a good IV calc for 6th gen and that can be found here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/generation-6-iv-calculator.3490488/ The man for checking them quickly is in Kiloude City and has pretty self explanatory comments on your IV's.

Is the gift Lucario fixed IV/fixed nature?

As far as we are aware yes. It's always Hasty with a perfect speed IV iirc with 25 in its offences/15ish in defences. It's not bad but a Riolu gets 3 perfect IV's off the bat and is likely a better prospect for you. I can't find its IV's right now but I think those are vaguely correct.

While not new to Pokemon, I'm new to breeding them (I've bred X with dittos for baby pokes before).
I'm trying to breed an Arcanine with Close Combat/Wild Charge/Morning Sun/Flare Charge and when I breed Mankey with Growlithe all I get is Mankey. I've got an entire box full of Mankeys in the PC, am I doing something wrong here?

Sounds to me like you're breeding with a female Mankey. The offspring will always be the same species as the mother, so switch it around to female growlithe/male Mankey and you should be fine
