Heracross

Gary2346

Please mention Megahorn somewhere on the analysis, or even slashed with Pin Missile, since using it gives Heracross a reliable and powerful STAB move to use before Mega Evolution. In several circumstances, it's advised to stay in normal form when Heracross is in need of a power boost either from Guts or Moxie, and amplified if it has Guts and is burned (it does a whopping amount of damage to defensive Rotom-W with Megahorn should it not have Close Combat). There are also very few Substitute users that I can think of that Pin Missile can hit effectively.

I'll definitely give it a good mention, but slashing it is a bit of a stretch because the accuracy vs power ratio between the two moves are like night and day, and anyone using Mega Hera should always avoid being burned as much as possible, or else you basically waste your mega slot. Not saying that Guts Heracross isn't powerful, but in general, Mega Hera shouldn't be messing around with Pokemon that can burn it, and Rotom-W is foolish to stay in on Mega Hera anyway because it takes a stupid amount of damage from Pin Missile, to a point where it's basically death fodder and not worth burning a single Pokemon. Besides, in my experience with Heracross, you're going to be Mega evolving almost immediately upon entry, rarely did I ever stay unevolved unless I was absolutely sure the opponent was going to let me get a Moxie boost on something.

And yes I realize there's still mentions of Genesect in here, I'll remove them.

I think Knock Off could be mentioned somewhere, as it still hits Aegislash for the same amount of damage as Earthquake does, and you can hit Landorus-T on the switch (and landoge is one of the best switch-ins), removing its leftovers and making it very prone to get worn down during the match as it has no other forms of recovery. You may even catch an incoming Gliscor switch-in, and if the Gliscor is not poisoned yet, losing the toxic orb would be huge for it (this is extremely situational though, I'm aware of it). The only drawback I can think of atm is that King's Shield becomes a problem >_> let me know what you think.

I don't think SD should be slashed with CC. CC is incredibly useful. Firstly it's your only 100% accurate STAB, and it's critical to getting OHKOs/2HKOs on defensive threats like Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Heatran. I really wouldn't run Heracross without this immensely useful STAB. Meanwhile EQ is far from mandatory, especially with the partnership of something like Pursuit Bisharp to get rid of Aegislash. If your team can adequately deal with Aegislash, EQ is very replaceable, and that's where SD should be slashed.

I'm sorry if I missed it, and I know this is done, but I feel like Knock Off needs to be mentioned anywhere...

Knock Off is illegal with ROck Blast which is too much to give up for Hera. Though good on base Heracross sets those are not all that viable in OU. Personally I think scarf is pretty decent but, not enough to receive a full set I suppose.

Also now that Swords Dance is slashed after EQ the analysis needs a slight re work. The SD section should be taken out of usage tips and re-done in the moves section and put in before the bullet seed section

An amazing set for MegaCross:

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 228 HP / 252 Atk / 28 Speed
Adamant Nature
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

The Evs are simple 252 atk. 28 speed to outspeed non speed mega heracross and base 75's with no speed. rest are in hp and adamant for more power. Pin Missile for stab and rock blast for coverage. Sub-Punch is great with his 180 Base Attack. this set is very dangerous if you can get to plus 1 and it can sweep. It has to switch out on Talonflame tho.
