When people can no longer make a joke post to brighten up people's days, then this forum has fucking lost its way. When a person has called Ron Paul a thug for wanting to legalize drugs (it was the stupidest thing I have read in ages) and I cannot make fun of that, this forum has become completely fucking ridiculous.

I made two good joke posts, neither crass, neither attention whoring, neither without ANY legitimate humor to them, and both were deleted on sight. A place where you cannot bring your sense of humor is a place not worth being, so I am literally never going to post again outside of the sports forum. You need to stop taking yourself so seriously, it is fucking ridiculous. Sorry that it is not a "proper" rage quit, but I quite like the sports forums.

I am sure this will be deleted on sight too, but I hope at least some moderator thinks seriously about what it means when you make someone who is on the front page of your members list for "most posts" and who has contributed to the site a little (RBY articles) unwilling to post about anything but sports on your forum ever again. I am sure most of you will see it as me "whining about administration" or something, but if that is your reaction then I cannot help it. This is not just idle attention whoring, I keep my word. I will never post on firebot, internet renaissance, VGC, or any other part of the site ever again.
 
i pretty much agree with you here. firebot was an awful forum basically 6 months after it was created until the day it died. i guess after 5 years people finally realized that it was a massive failure, but the way they solved the issue was ridiculous. they merged the "serious" and "joke" forum together. the mods decide to randomly select certain threads and decide that they are "serious only" threads. it's tough for users to decide where they can joke around or not in this forum. its basically either a shitty unfunny thread where nobody wants to post anything in anyway (a vader thread or some lame crap like that.) or a serious thread where you can only post 100% serious responses. if i want to make a joke about abortion then i should be allowed to!

What was the second joke post CK? I can only find one..

You can make joke posts in serious threads, that is the whole point of this forum. If we wanted only strictly serious responses to serious threads we would have stuck with firebot and congregation.

The only problem is when serious threads get completely derailed by joke posts. Like when someone tries to post a serious thread, and the first 15 responses are all jokes because jokes are easier to make than serious responses. So from that point on no one can possibly take the thread seriously..

I really dont think the one CK post I can find should have been deleted.

One issue we do have is that every post you make has to make it past every moderator, if one doesnt think you are funny it will probably get deleted.. So you had better make your jokes in serious threads really good.

I kinda agree, sometimes even 'normal' posts (well they're pretty shitty but still) get derailed into something completely stupid, even by members with badges. Generally I think mods do a good job, but every now and then I think it's pretty dumb how some posts are locked or derailed, by whatever member that may be.
