Sorry Tang but I gotta reopen this :)

Anyways, Pokebeach got the CoroCoro Scans. The scans include new artwork for some Pokemon (including Lugia/Ho-oh), images from the game (Sprout Tower, Slowpoke's well, Ilex Forest (with Celebi's shrine)).

Kris is redesigned...

Also, if you obtain the Shiny Pichu from the 12th movie and transfer it over, something happens in the Ilex Forest. Notched Ear Pichu, anyone?

Not much info yet, but this is getting interesting.

EDIT: It appears that Headbutt trees will be gone or reduced (or replaced with the ridiculous Honey trees). If you look at the Ilex Forest picture you'll see no headbuttable trees...
 
Update May 12th
- expanded wifi (new mini-games?)
- screens show Cynadquil following the character outside of the first town as well
- ability to play as a female character (not Crystal, newly designed)
- female character will play a sort of support role - like Pearl in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum?
- I see a Pichu beside the main character without a starter around so maybe you CAN have a non-starter following you? it seems to be a story-like sequence though as he's talking to another, different shade of yellow, Pichu (oh god please let me have a Charmander follow me)
- Kanto is hinted at
- Skateboard finally available for use?
- Coro Coro needs to fire their graphic designer / layout designer
 
personally i'd rather that your starter didn't follow you. sure, a totodile is cute and all but what about when it evolves into croconaw, and then feraligatr? Fully evolved starters following you lose the cute touch that pikachu had in yellow.

Any opinions?

If you're talking about the three pokéballs, I think it's when you have to choose your starter.

There's also Totodile following him in front of a well (Slowpoke's, most likely). Well, I think it's Totodile, but could also be lol Machop...

Funny that they didn't want to use Crystal (as she, technically, isn't from the original games) and yet created a whole new character with a new role.

I can't help but wonder if that Pichu unlocks Celebi in the forest...other than that it's too bad that there's very little information about anything and

In that case, then it most likely comes from how there was scrap data for a skateboard in early versions of Gold and Silver (or something like that), and people think that they might actually implement it into HG/SS. However, the fact was, it was scrapped, and we haven't seen any form heads or tails of it since then. Plus, the bike and running shoes pretty much cover everything that's needed; Pokemon isn't a game focused on grinding (beyond the levelling type or anything), so there would be no reason to implement a skateboard. And even for tricks and stuff, Game Freak decided to introduce the Acro Bike in Gen III, which, if anything, would be the most likely thing to appear (compared to a skateboard). However, in Gen IV, they then removed that and condensed the functions of both the Mach and Acro bikes back into a single bike.

So yeah, unless there's actual talk of some of the text of the CoroCoro scan saying it somewhere or something like that, the chance of a skateborad appearing in GS is pretty neglible, IMO.

I'd be a little disappointed if the shiny Pichu unlocks Celebi. I was hoping I could skip that particular pointless event critter.

Also, does anyone else think the female trainer's hat was inspired by Aretha Franklin? :P

There's no reason to believe these remakes won't be compatible. Sure, Nintendo likes money but I don't think they want to piss off the fanbase too much. Releasing these games isn't merely a fanservice to the nostalgic fans of yesteryear. They WANT to capture the younger demographic of today as well.
 
Am I the only one irritated that they decided to bring back an utterly useless and ridiculous game feature, the pokemon following behind the character? I really hope they give you the option to turn that off without putting your starter into a box, because I personally see no benefit to having your pokemon follow you around.
 
Well the Elite Four was pretty easy, but they should not raise their levels. If you think about it, getting to level 50 prior to fighting them(assuming you have 4 fighters and 2 HM slaves) was quite difficult if all you did was play through the game normally.

Hopefully you can rebattle the Elite Four and Gym Leaders though, that would be cool. It would be awesome if after you got the National Dex Karen would have a Honchkrow, and Bugsy(Bug Gym Leader) evolved her Scyther into a Scizor. I would also like to see Claire have an Extremespeed Dragonite, that would be cool.

Headbutt was such a great move... I still think it will be in the game.

@ Jibaku: I don't recall any headbuttable trees near the Celebi shrine, I believe they were to the north and south of it.

About time they allow you to walk around with your starter. I was so jealous when Lance's Dragonite used Dragon Rage or whatever, I want my Feraligatr to see some action.
 
They probably made the new female characters because the Gingers of the world felt under-represented in the Pokemon games....

But this looks totally badass, I'm loving the new Sugimori art.

...Maybe they were taken only at this part and are still on the game, but who knows, we may have those honey trees instead =(

Oh I'm sure of that, I just wonder how compatible, palpark-like, maybe like in FR/LG where you had to beat most of the game to trade with Hoenn, etc.

The real benefit of this is being able to add a lot more post-E4 content

Because there was no female in GS. Only is Crystal. ;)

Too bad, though. Crystal's design wasn't bad and the new girl looks like Pippy Longstockings or something. GameFreak sure love ridiculous hats.

Probably not... Serebii says that the PCPichu and NEPichu have a special subplot in Illex Forest.

What? lol. Unless you're talking about similar entrance-things like they did with FRLG, but that is grasping at straws to the max.

Anyways, new art and Gold's design fucking awesome. They didn't make his hair too freaky, he has the best design just beating out FRLG Red. LOVIN' THE ARTWORK! :)
 
I really do hope that there's Celebi without getting that Pichu. I'm probably missing something but I really don't see any connection between the two.

Also, that new female character... What were they thinking? If you want to make a new character at least make her look decent... Ugh, I really don't like being stuck with her.

And lol Jimbo, they still need a blond girl.

However, since none of the other stuff like the price or release date was mentioned in the actual CoroCoro section on HG/SS, it's pretty safe to say that that whole post was just someone making stuff up, as Serebii suspected.
 
If any pokemon can follow you woouldnt it be cool to have a mewtwo or a wailord or even an arcues I lol at the fact if you can have the god of pokemon follow you.
 
As Naxte pointed out, I was compiling information and some of it was mixed up with others due to the anonymous nature of 2ch. I'm editting to only put in confirmed info. Check the first post for update.
 
I think the new girl is okay~

But, for old times sake, I wish they had kept her hair blue. ): The hairstyle itself is similar enough, I suppose. I'm excited about having our starter walk behind us, though :> But will that only be a function for the starter pokemon alone...?
 
^They probably didn't make her hair color be blue as well, in order to make sure that she isn't mistaken to be Crys and confused to actually be her (which, despite the only similarity they share being that they both have red shirts, I've still seen some people insisting that she is in fact some redrawing of Crys) and so that she can stand as her own character.

And I'm not really sure Pokemon other than the starters will follow you; probably not, but who knows.
