Other than that, discuss KH until you're blue in the face.

This week's Kingdom Hearts Question: Favorite Keyblade? (Preferably an individual, not dual-wield)

^I'd say mine is Oathkeeper. In Re:coded, the life gain was awesome.

I played Kingdom Hearts 2 for the PS2. Eh it was alright.. right until i got stuck fighting some water dude who was impossible to beat. I gave the game away but felt like smashing it. Still, i always found the music in the trailers for the gameboy(?) games fun.

And in case you wanted to know, i got stuck after going into the Tron world, coming out, seeing Sephiroth and then fighting some guy with a guitar that controls water.

I can say that he is by far the second or third hardest boss in the entire story, Xaldin and Saix being the top. Anyway, onto the new game.

The game itself was pretty fun and I enjoyed the newer characters as opposed the FFVII/VIII characters. The only complaints I have are the drop gauge (obvious reasons) and the power jumps between worlds. Don't continue if you want the second half of the game spoiled. You finally find the mark Neku and the others have been searching for, but PLOT TWIST it summons half of the bosses that you have already faced in the story, but with upped power. Complete pain in the ass. After completing 2 more worlds you finally get to the end just to find out Sora and Riku's bosses are both insanely over powered. After beating Sora's boss you can finally finish Riku's side and then you realise you aren't even close to finished. The near final boss is almost impossible without power levelling to level 40 on proud mode. And after that you are essentially sent back to square one with Master Xehanort returning. Yeah, I'm gonna stop there before I rant this thread to oblivion...

Dream Drop's cutscenes in the ads looked really stupid so I'm doubting that I'm going to buy it. To be fair though, I think a lot of criticism of the handhelds is kind of unmerited. Days is the only one I've played that really dragged on (actually I take that back: Coded was pointless and I never finished the Castle Oblivion section, but I did enjoy the game as a whole) and god damn did Days make up for it by punching my emotions in the nads with the ending. I haven't talked with anyone who played the game through who didn't cry during the ending sequences of 358/2 Days.

Also with Sephiroth in some alternate dimension I want Kefka to be the new optional difficult boss. I really really do. With Dave Wittenburg reprising his role and a condensed version of Dancing Mad's 4th Movement.

Also Xaldin was the only Organization XIII member I had serious trouble with. I do recall dying repeatedly against Groundshaker though.

EDIT: WAIT NO LARXENE WAS A TOTAL BITCH IN CHAIN OF MEMORIES GBA AAARRGHH

Alright all, I'm having a DDD dilemma...

I kept on losing to the semifinal boss, Young Xehanort...I decided to go power level to about level fifty...But any general tips or recommended commands? Just so that when I'm ready, I'll have victory in sight.

@Mr. Munchlax, I would suggest using at least two curagas, poison dive, and shadowbreaker. Those three alone were pretty much all I needed to beat him at level 40 on proud. Be warned that you will need to reality shift after knocking his HP to zero, failing to do so will restart the entire battle.

Thank you, I think I'll throw in a couple balloons, too. I've heard (and seen) that they are pretty over powered.

I'm a fan of the KH series but all the spin-offs or whatever you wanna call them being on multiple systems is taking the quality away from me. I was fine with Chain of Memories, especially since you didn't have to play it to know what was happening in KH2, but after the announcement of BBS, 385/2 and Coded(which was originally on cell phone) it's hard to keep it. I've just been reading whats been happening in the games I can't play now which obviously isn't as fun as playing it would be. Kingdom Hearts 3 better kick some huge ass.

All that said, KH2 was my favorite game because I felt it was a nice upgrade from the first and my favorite character is Sora!

While I understand frustration with the multiple systems, I'm curious to see if they will return to Sony for KH 3, especially given there recent support to Nintendo. Also, not sure if you knew, KH: Dream Drop Distance is the sequel to KH 2, and a lot more happens than just an exam.

DDD is very entertaining. The Light Racer world is kind of meh, but an entertaining story line and interesting prelude to KH3 (which better be mentioned by Square Enix soon!).

Favorite one though is KH1 by far. Most challenging and less button mashing imo.

I haven't played DDD extensively, but I played my friend's copy for a bit, and something that annoyed the heck out of me was the camera. I felt like there was little skill to the game since half the time I was attacking I couldn't see the opponent I was trying to hit. Like I said it was my friend's game and I dont own a 3DS so maybe it's just me but I found it to be really disappointing. Anyways favorite portable KH game was Chain of Memories. Dem nostalgia feels. Also fighting a boss and running out of cards at a bad time is the worst feeling.

I dont find any problems in the DDD camera, the game overall is pretty fun, not better than BBS which is my favorite in the series but iits much better than Days and Recoded.Im pretty much almost done it too, should be done soon.I like it like most KH games.

Even though I got a couple years back, I just beat 358/2 days recently. It was really good. (Duel-wielding is a winner, as always)
A side note- Spoilers of the new game are now open!

So I beat dream drop distance yesterday and the ending sequences were amazing etc etc. what I'd like to know is does anybody know what's in the inevitable secret ending video?

i loved the first one, just had a certain magic to it, with finding cool treasures and some difficult parts/bosses. was hyped for the second and it sucked ass, the boring ass 5 hour prologue, the so-easy-to-find treasures which made treasure hunting pointless (and not very rewarding either), and how easy the entire game was (even sephiroth was significantly easier)

Oh and btw munchlax the easiest way to beat young xehanort is stack your command deck with balloonras and ballongas with a few curagas thrown in. Best spells in the game by far.

Also my favorite keyblade is way to the dawn because riku.

I continue to plan on buying the 2nd game and playing through it, just to complete the games. I also adore the first one, but I realize sequels to RPGs are rarely worthwhile. *COUGH*FFX2*COUGH*

DM, I'd say all the things ivar said are right... but I think the story was 10/10 and the design/musics are still amazing so the game is surely worth it...=]

edit: i played KH2 without playing CoM...

The story was the worst part about Kingdom Hearts 2. It is the most convoluted jrpg plot I've ever played through, absolutely requires that you played through the card game spin-off, the plot doesn't even start until halfway through the game when all pretense of Disney being important is gone, and the villains are the quintessential emos that weaboos flock to. I gag when I see groups of black cloak motherfuckers at conventions.

I beat Young Xehanort at level 36 on Proud. It's very easy if you know how to time things. I run Ice Barage, 2x Firaga, Dark Splicer and 2xCuraga. This way, I have 3 spells to maximize my magic damage output and not get in the way of his attacks. Avoid any physical combat and wait until he finishes his laser barage to use Dark Splicer. The toughest part is when he freezes time and starts rewinding it in order to revive. The trick is that you won't beat him the first time he does that. That's too fucking hard. It's during the second time that he does it that it becomes easy because his life bar is much much smaller. Basically hit-and-run and let your dream eaters do the work. Try to unlock Second Chance and Once More along with Leaf Bracer so that you can heal yourself with Curaga's when you are about to die. Try to run Dream Eaters that have Attack Haste and Magic Haste so you can pull off spells and attacks faster because it's annoying to have to stall sometimes. Too be honest, none of the bosses were as tough as Mysterious Figure from Birth By Sleep in my opinion, because at the level I was in DDD, I couldn't even touch MF in BBS. In BBS you're almost forced to grind to beat him even on Proud mode.

Nope, none of us noticed that lol. Acklow and munchlax, did either of you guys get the secret ending?

Also I'd like to point out that ddd was a LOT more worthwhile than a typical spinoff game. A whole lot of stuff happens (such as the unveiling of xehanorts organization xiii), and riku get pretty much his most significant character development in the whole series. Not to mention that this game will directly lead into khiii. I swear I got chills when Mickey and yen Sid were talking about gathering the keyblade wielders to oppose xehanort...all I can say is that the final war in khiii had better be amazing. Also lea being a keyblade wielder-pure win.

Btw, who do you guys think the seven lights are going to be? Thus far we have sora, riku, Mickey, lea, kairi (apparently). The last two will most likely be some combination of Roxas, terra, aqua, and ventus. What do you guys think?

Sora may be ruled out actually. Do not forget the existence of Vanitas. Vanitas was essentially future Sora-Xehanort incarnate. We still do not know why Ventus' dark side looked like Sora, so there must be some sort of paradox involved. I would suspect it has something to do with Xehanort being able to be present in different periods of time at will. I have a feeling it'll likely be Riku, Lea, Kairi, Aqua, Roxas/Ventus, Xion, and an unknown seventh (maybe Mickey). Sora will become the thirteenth darkness, as foretold by Xehanort, but somehow in the end he'll break free of his bonds and become Sora again. Terra is currently a captive of Xehanort so no, he is not one of the seven. Ventus and Roxas are a toss up at this moment in my mind as is Xion but I have a feeling at least two of those three will be among them.

Mind you, I don't like the idea of Sora going bad, but the way Xehanort put it, it'll eventually happen. Plus, it explains the existence of Vanitas+Ventus. This all makes sense if you consider the fact that Xehanort has power to move through time (as is evidenced by his young form and the keyblade that he wields).

I suggest everyone who has played BBS and DDD put any potential spoilers or theories pertaining KH3 in hide tags so that people who haven't won't spoil the story for themselves.

I think Lea is much more of a feminine name for a dude that was formerly known as Axel...

That aside, doubtful it'd be Roxas, the easiest ones would be Donald and Goofy but they don't seem to have shown much inclination in that area. Could just as well be Ansem the Wise and Yen Sid also...I haven't played any of the PSP games (despite owning one, just never bothered since I got tired seeing side story after side story and no KH3), but I think I read Ventus is kinda absorbed into Sora like Roxas? Guess if you consider that there's another 2, or depending on whatever the status of Terra and Aqua are, they could be the last 2 also.
