I think Irelia got pretty shafted from this patch. Unless I'm missing something, I didn't really feel like I could buy anything from the new items list, while other champs just became stronger from being able to do so (ie. Liandry's Torment). Maybe Mercurial Scimitar? Outside of that, I dunno.
Meanwhile I think Singed got some improvements, some from the masteries, some from items. Liandry's Torment is fun, I wouldn't recommend this though, as this sets him back on his tanking job. Iceborn Gauntlet: A+ item for Singed. I recommend this as a first armor item unless you are fighting against heavy ad like Tryn.

Irelia is a huge fan of Zephyr. CDR, Attack Speed, AD, and Tenacity so she can build Tabi without having to feel bad? Yes, please.

ive been rushing wardens mail on most tanky tops now. even though the proc is less it being 100% is too worth it. bulwark is pretty op.
i was watching reapered this morning and he was rushing boots 2 distortion, trading hard in lane and going back and tping in whenever CD was up. he also went gunblade zephyr on jax.

i tried out a bot game with ad malz because of how new promote item also gives 15% damage to allied minions/pets. he just straight up melted stuff. end game i 340 ad, 1-2 pets by my side at 392 ad, add that with all my dots and spells. nothing could survive...unless i got stunned and got jumped on...or they run away. my end build was alacrity greaves/banner of command/bloodthirster/black cleaver/runaan hurricane/muramana. thinking of trading in that muramana for a icebound gauntlet for a perma slow+mana option and just hoarding a blue buff, also, switching out bloodthirster for rageblade to hit that 1.5 speed (i was hitting only 1.3).
Okay, I swear this patch might as well be known as the nerf Malphite to oblivion patch. First of all itemization is going to slaughter him. His two favorite items, Frozen Heart and Randuin's Omen, got massive nerfs with the latter being completely gutted. The new armor items besides maybe Iceborn Gauntlet don't help him one bit, and the only real MR option he got was Runic Bulwark, as the new Spirit Visage is kinda just wasted on him. Stacking HP is not really an option on Malph because of how he scales with armor, and even if he did, Warmog's is so shitty compared to before. New penetration mechanisms just fucks him up further if he stacks resists, Black Cleaver+Last Whisper+Armor Pen runes/masteries can basically drop him from 200 Armor to like 70. How is that okay? Speaking of Black Cleaver, just fuck this item. I know it's supposed to make AD Casters viable, but what it really does is just make tanky DPS champs even more powerful, and they still blow AD Casters out of the water. Before Malph could build a Frozen Heart, Ground Slam, and absorb most of Xin Zhao's burst. Now he gets to pretty much take true damage after Three Talon Strike. I guess I'll just have to wear the Glacial Malphite skin, buy some AP and Iceborn Gauntlets, and go cry some cold icy tears in a corner until Riot rebuffs Armor/MR.
Malphite's ult says that he'll never be worthless. Plus, his armor scalings were only a little better then Rammus'-and his were pretty much ignorable except for his early jungling. So just go with a more health oriented build-hell, the old Sunfire/Abyssal/Rylais core still works.
I'm kind of pissed about Janna being basically worthless right now, though. Any ways to fix that?
EDIT: Yeah, Janna is worthless. You know a support is fail when SUPPORT PANTHEON protects their AD better and secures more kills.

In fact, don't play any traditional support. They all are out-classed by tanks and many other champions. Riot should buff the base stats on their abilities to make them even playable verses champions such as Pantheon and Darius. If you can run tanky DPSes without farm better than champions designed for that, there is something wrong.
EDIT: Sona somehow survives, but I haven't seen any other "support" work.
Weren't Lulu and Sona the most picked/banned supports at IPL5? Traditional supports can still work lol, all Janna needs honestly is a few QoL changes on her Howling Gale and maybe a bit more damage for harass in lane.
Janna is fine, just not FOTM. Support Janna would've shut down so many teams in IPL5 because of her disengaging powers, it's just that no one picked her.

i have never played a matchup vs. zed and in fact i've only played a game against a zed twice
but in theory zed should do well against gragas since he can dodge his barrel with his living shadow if he's quick enough and he can deal quite a bit of damage with his E if gragas tries to body-slam him
zed mid seems lackluster at best though and inferior to lee sin or talon mid
Playable in what? Lane? Maybe you should rethink your positioning and not pick supports who are weak to kill lanes, if that's all your facing. And if you're getting their abilities (Darius dunk notwithstanding) blown on you and dying as Sona while your ADC is safe, then I'm afraid to tell you that's something you should be pleased about.
I don't see how you could compare someone like Lulu -- who is absurdly strong right now -- or Zyra -- ditto -- to a tank.
I agree with marthy, too. Janna is super dope (and good vs. kill lanes, btw, unless you walk into melee range and get stunned or whatever) and should be picked more often. People abandoned her, as usual, for no real good reasons. As queen disengager, she still has her place, especially with such a fundamentally strong kit. What makes you guys think she's worthless? Because nobody is picking her, or what? Interested to hear your reasons!
This is all that needed to be said in response to someone making a claim that tanks are so strong in lane as supports.

Acxtually I wanted to try out Janna, she seems a lot like Jakiro with a good ability to deal damage + the hurrican or whatever she has reminds me of Ice path.
Also like Nasus a lot atm, not something Id ever think id say since i usually detest melee heroes, but siphoning strikes is just way too good to pass up on :P

Janna doesn't really deal much damage unless you solo lane her, or play against people stupid enough to take charged tornadoes. Also tornado is great but it has nothing on ice path man, holy shit that skill is good.
