Oh, after you put that poll asking how many people would like a shiny chaining guide, I tried chaining my swarm for the day, natu, and I got this:

Swordmaster - Oh my god, that's better than any shiny I've ever gotten. That's incredible, congrats.

KB - It happens, there's always a chance your chain will break, most formations are somewhat fallible. How do you think I break chains? ;)

Bentendo - Yea I know what the fuck is with that? Just trying to help, yet some people think that's illegitimate somehow, I don't get it. T_T
 
this was a bit odd...

my repel wore off the same step i was going to land on my encounter, and it said "repels effects wore off" but i didnt get in a battle. i immediately applied it and walked one step up and one step back down and the encounter then happened...

chain is still going, but i suppose it was just unusual to me
 
Yea, that happens. Be sure to use a repel before battling the pokemon. If you keep going the direction you were going, you don't fight the pokemon. But if you're standing in the patch, and turn another direction, you do fight the pokemon.

Not sure of the special stats due to the limitations in the IV-checking code, but sad that only one is Adamant right now.

But still really pumped!!! :)
 
So after about 200 max repels, I chained 10 larvitars, synchronized for adamants.

Sadly, this was the best of the bunch-

The 4 adamants all had some mediocre stats =[ Oh well, specs ttar here I come @_@
 
YEAAAAAAA KB!!!! Breakin' on through to the other side!! That's what I'm talkin about. I find that I almost always get exactly 50/50 natures on my chains, so hopefully there's a lot more Adamants waiting for you. That one you have there pwns though, but hopefully you can get an even better one. Congrats!!!

Nicely done to you too as well ta11geese, even if the IV's didn't turn out, that's a solid haul no doubt. That's a really really nice modest one at least!
 
only shiny i ever got was a random shiny ditto at 5 when i was trying to catch some to check natures/IVs. :s

I have around 20 shiny Starly's, I chain it everytime I EV train for Speed, I bring along like 4 different Pokemon, each requiring 25 battles, and I have made it to 40+ like 10 times with Starly. One time I caught 11 total, when I was really ressetting for them after I finished EV training, and I ended up with this beauty.

CBTar anyone? I love using this guy, but I keep getting accused of a hacker because it is caught in a luxury ball and is shiny, so I have stopped using it.

Amazing Speed, near perfect attack for Explosion and decent Special Attack. Serves great for Mirro Coat-Sash strategy, except it gets targetted by Earthquakes more, so it usually ends up Exploding.

Those are my best catches. I've never gotten around to checking some others which have good natures and look promising but just been too lazy or forgetful :p

I haven't checked its IVs yet, but yeah, caught it last night, my first shiny caught via chaining.

I'd hit the 40 mark with Ralts earlier today but whilst walking to reset my radar got a bit too sloppy with my d-pad presses and accidentally walked into an unsafe patch (just as I was thinking I should be more careful, too).

THis is flawless where it has to be...
 
I got 4 shiny Beldums, but I carried the wrong Sincronizer, so...
Anyway, I have a good Jolly Starly, and I will start to chain Ralts (easier than Beldum xD). I wanted a Larvitar too, but without Pursuit...

All my shinies. The first four were caught on Sapphire. All the rest were encountered with the Pokeradar. Most have good natures. I still have a few to train.

That isn't all of my catches. I have given away a Gastly, a Wurmple (Beautifly NFE), a Shinx, a Bronzor, an Electike and I have a spare Buizel I don't intend to keep. I also have encountered one other Gastly but accidently fled and a shiny Ponyta, but hit Teleport, instead of switch on my synchroniser. No more does a party member ever have that move.

I am currently chaining for Sneasle.
 
Dunno. Spoink will be inferior to Grumpig and Numel was in Sapphire where sync doesn't work. I'm not giving any away or cloning any, so don't bother asking.
