Marvel v Capcom 3 discussion

I am definitely psyched for Evo, but I have Shadowloo Showdown to tide me over until then, being Australian it will be nice to see so many big names competing here (and watching most of the Australian players get completely bodied).

As for toning down Wolverine, he may be annoying, but I am not for it. Generally I would rather they leave it broken than mess around with it (the only exception being tweaks to x-factor, which I can completely understand). Yeah he is overpowered, but who knows what will change with differing strategies that may arise from having to deal with it.

Wolverine Akuma. Something stupid like 8 Wolvie Akuma users in teams and 4 of them in top 8. I hope to hell that Wolverine, Akuma, X-Factor, or any combination of the 3 gets nerfed somehow.

Wolvie+Akuma is ridiculous. It happens far to often that a characters becomes instantly doomed the first 3 seconds into a game, cause they get caught by Wolvie or crossed up with Akuma assist and then are guaranteed to die.

If I had to guess, it would be the following:

1: Phoenix got chipped out by the Fireball. Her other normals don't do chip damage from what I've heard, so that had to be what activated Resurrection in the first place.

2: Resurrection "activates". Phoenix's meter goes down to 0, the super sound activates, etc.

3: The next frame, Phoenix's low kick hits. The game checks, sees that Phoenix has 0 life and less than 5 bars, and says "welp, that's that. Whatever." KO.

Definitely not abuseable, just something random. At least it didn't happen in a legit match.

Only thing I can see wrong with that theory is that Dark Phoenix Rising is completely invincible until the animation ends, so she could not take the damage so soon after the activation.

It is also somewhat odd that (at least from my perspective) it actually registered the KO slightly before the activation. This is somewhat suggested by the fact that is seems like the super activation sound occurs after the KO, but I don't know that is just random speculation.

this game seems fun as i saw some dude play it in the mall earlier but i have a couple of questions

is it worth getting?

and is it easy to get into? this would be my first fighting game ever so yeah

I would definitely say it is worth getting (though that may be a bit biased, I do really like the game on its own). It is a more fast-paced fighter, so even if you do not feel like getting into the higher levels of play, it is generally more fun to mess around with than a lot of other current fighters (read: Street Fighter 4).

As for being easy to get into, the simpler button layout and more basic entry level combos (A B C Launch etc) make it easier to get into than other fighting games, but that said, the higher levels of play can be just as complex as high level play in other games.

It's not the best fighting game out there, but it's one of the more fun ones, and it's relatively easy to get into.

Yeah, echoing. It's a fun game, and it's probably the easiest of most current fighters to get into to a middle skill level, but getting into the upper echelon might be a bit tough for someone just getting into fighters.

Yeah the execution required to effectively play some characters is no joke. (Felicia, etc.)

Still, it can be plenty of fun for new players, I taught one of my college roommates the game and he picked up the basics in a few days.

My PSN ID is CharDude

I just got this a day ago and I'm really not very good, but I'd like to have a few fun matches with some people.

Anyone who did not watch tonight's Wednesday Night Fights missed out on the best Doom play you could ever imagine. clockw0rk is a beast.

You dudes HAVE to watch it when it gets put up.

Yeah it was fucking ridiculous. I don't know how much of it they upload to youtube, but all the archive footage is here and here already. There was also a general lack of Wolverine presence throughout the tournament, at least as far as streamed matches were concerned.

It's always a treat to see Clockw0rk's Doom in action, so I wonder what he did in WNF that was so much more astounding than usual. I guess I'll have to check it out.

bump.

Picking up Dante, I feel like he'd work well over Wesker on my current Dorm/Magneto/Wesker team as a sort of more defensive variant. Too bad he's a total asshole in terms of learning the basics of the character-- I'm literally struggling just to find his most recent bnbs because of how much combo potential he apparently has. And then there'll be the problem of actually pulling stuff off online.

I don't find Dante's combos hard...offline anyways <_< The more I play offline, the more I realize how bad online is (i.e. for whatever reason I drop Taskmaster's combos so often online but never offline). In any case I hope some good news comes from Comic con, as there is suppose to be news about MvC3 (please be DLC characters).

Edit: Well this makes me want to puke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPbWQdWXfr8

Maybe Wolverine will be good now <_< >_> <_<

Basic thought is that this will probably be DLC announcements, they have been telling us that there will be a lot of DLC for the game since before it came out, but we have not really had any. Super MvC, while possible (especially with supposed credible evidence), but even if we do get it, I doubt it would be announced now, the game is only 5 months old, announcing Super MvC would hurt more than it would help no matter what it offered.

I don't know how I feel about Super MvC3. If they do it, I just hope that it's like AE, where you pay 15 bucks for it as a DLC thing. I'd rather not pay $40-60 again for MvC3.
