This meta also has the side effect of pretty much throwing out all of the ou meta as most of it is non evolving and legendary pokemon
22 ou pokemon would be legal
15 BL would be legal
note this also counts mega evolution as well

Should Hp be one of the things that is factored in? would things like blissey and chancey take a hit from only having 100 hp and 65 SpDef?

if a pokemon has equal stats like flygon how should it be decided? should it go off the most common moves it runs for instance if it mostly runs physical would it go off attack and make it lower or if its status make one of its defenses lower if so how would that work?

Is this meta too similar to anything else?

Would this be different then a normal ou meta?

Is anything overly broken?

Does this look like a fun meta?
Basically it's a metagame only for pokemon without any evolutionary line. I don't really know what to think of it...

I think this metagame may be a bit annoying to teambuild. You know having too look up preevolutions and stuff like that. I think changing from the three highest stats to only the best stat of the mon would in a sense make the metagame easier too control. I also think that this may be a bit slow of a metagame seeing as offensive pokemon usually have all their offensive capabilities kinda destroyed. I also don't know how to fix the problem of equal stats.

I think if hp was considered it would make it more balanced

also a problem appears as evolite might become common place as the first or second evo would have about the same stats except could hold evolite

(also RIP gyardos and milotic as well as metagross and a few others)

How about this:

Role classes

By naming your Pokémon after one of these classes, they change their moveset restrictions according to their role class:

Red Mage: All damaging moves with power up to 90, Calm Mind, Bulk Up, moves that restore 1/2 fixed HP (Recover, Roost, etc.)
White Mage: Moves that restore 1/2 fixed HP, Wish, Aromatherapy/Heal Bell, Seismic Toss/Night Shade, Purify, Lunar Dance, Healing Wish, Heal Pulse, Floral Healing
Black Mage: All special damaging moves except sound-based or HP draining, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Tail Glow
Monk: All physical damaging moves except sound-based or HP draining, Swords Dance, Coil, Bulk Up, Belly Drum
Ninja: Physical moves with power up to 90, Agility/Shift Gear/Dragon Dance, status moves that target ONLY the foe (Confuse Ray/Entraintment/Thunder Wave/etc.), priority moves, multi-hit moves, Hone Claws, Foul Play
Schemer: Special moves with power up to 90, Quiver Dance, status moves that target ONLY the foe (Confuse Ray/Entraintment/Thunder Wave/etc.), priority moves, multi-hit moves, Acupressure, Foul Play
Trickster: All status moves that don't heal HP, are not Terrains or are not weather conditions, NOT Baton Pass, Rest
Ancient: Weather conditions, Terrains, Attacks based on weather or natural disasters (Thunder, Solar Beam, Weather Ball, Blizzard, Hurricane, Heat Wave, Earthquake, Earth Power, Surf, Rock Slide), Natural Gift, Nature Power, Geomancy, moves that restore weather dependant HP
Parasite: HP draining moves, moves that restore HP over time (Ingrain, Agua Ring), Pain Split, Leech Seed, Toxic, Strength Sap, Powder moves
Rock Star: Sound based moves (not Parting Shot)
Coward: Volt Switch, U-Turn, Parting Shot, Substitute, Baton Pass, stat raising moves that give 1-2 boosts (NOT Quiver Dance/Tail Glow/Belly Drum/etc.)

So, for example, the Red Mage role is better suited for Pokémon that can hit both physically and specially, like Sheer Force Nidoking. Cowards help keeping the momentum while setting up on slower walls, Parasites make for annoying physical walls with Strength Sap, Ancients make for good weather sweepers and Rock Stars have small movepools but can bypass subs. White Mages are there to support the team, while Black Mages and Monks make for the typical sweepers. Finally, the Ninja/Schemer classes are aimed to be more versatile, but lack recovery and their power is limited.

Max 1 Pokémon of each class per team!

Bans would be:

1) Moves
-Light of Ruin
-Mind Blown
-Head Smash
-Bolt Strike
-Blue Flare
-Eruption
-Water Spout
-Last Resort

2) Abilities:
-Contrary
-Huge Power/Pure Power
-Arena Trap/Shadow Tag

Clauses:
-OU clauses
-Allow 1 Pokémon to know Baton Pass per team
-OHKO moves

Examples:

quagsire.gif

White Mage (Quagsire) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled
- Wish

landorus-therian.gif

Monk (Landorus-Therian) (M)
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics
- Rock Slide
- Belly Drum

pelipper.gif

Ancient (Pelipper) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 6 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Hurricane
- Thunder
- Blizzard

thundurus.gif

Coward (Thundurus) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 6 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Baton Pass

Potential Threats:

pidgeot-mega.gif

Rock Star (Pidgeot-Mega) @ Pidgeotite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 6 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Bug Buzz
- Sing
- Clanging Scales

Mega-Pidgeot is very fast and has decent bulk, and in this meta it also has access to a powerful STAB move in Boomburst and can sleep your counter with Sing. It also has access to two other powerful moves that can hit through substitutes, but like all Rock Stars, it is useless against Soundproof mons.

chansey.gif

Trickster (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Cotton Guard

Chansey was already feared as a special wall, but in this meta Chansey can get free Defense boosts while setting up Trick Room for slower teammates (like Monk Rampardos or Stakataka) and recover HP freely with Rest, switching out when needed without being dead weight after using Rest.

greninja.gif

Ninja (Greninja) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spectral Thief
- Sacred Sword
- Extreme Speed
- Shift Gear

With Shift Gear to set up, Life Orb, and STAB on every move, Greninja can be very dangerous and unpredictable. Shift Gear can also be used for the surprise element, as it turns super-effective moves (Bug, Fairy and Grass types) into not very effective moves while setting up. All other physical moves aid Greninja in hitting hard any foe that attempts to stop it.

Questions:
Should any more moves be banned (like Spectral Thief)?
Should some class be fused with another or limited (like Ninja/Schemer to moves with 80 base power instead?)?
Which class do you think has the most potential?
Do you think Pokémon like Kyurem-Black, Greninja-Ash, Mega-Diancie,...should be banned?

Do you think Pokémon like Kyurem-Black, Greninja-Ash, Mega-Diancie,...should be banned?
I think Schemers and Ninjas are easily gonna dominate the meta. Are there any restrictions on how many mons of a single role you can bring? If not there may be a lack of variety on some teams.

Oh, ok! It could be cool, actually! Also, how works mega-evolution?
Im not sure about that actually it could be like mnm where it adds to the stats or it could be where the stats don't change at all in the stat that gets lowered I think the mnm idea would be interesting as some bulky get more bulk then attack or speed then attack after mega evolving or special to physical

that would be more of a pet mod right cause the rules can not be said in a single statement?
(not even mentioning the fact that it is a naming meta which means its not allowed on the main server)
you could replace it with items to circumvent the naming problem but this causes it to become even more complex

Hi, just wanted to float the idea of a Pet Mod with you guys:

Monotype Gen 8

Basically the idea of this Pet Mod is to submit new Pokémon for the Monotype metagame. Every week there will be a slate with 5 type combinations (and sometimes single types): you then create Pokémon of those types. If one of your creations wins the vote, you get to pick a typing for the next slate. If 5 of your creations win, you get to buff a pre-existing Pokémon that is not S rank on any of the types it's allowed on (+10 boost to a particular stat or 1 new move or 1 new ability). If 10 of your creations win, you get to add a new mechanic (e.g. Ice types get +1 Defence in Hail, or Stone Edge has 100% accuracy in Sandstorm). Your nominations should look like this:

Name: Chilopino
Ability: Flash Fire, Chlorophyll, Water Absorb
Base stats (in order of HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe): 98, 52, 85, 135, 74, 76 (520 total)
Useful Moves (you don't have to list the entire movepool - just the moves you think it would actually use)
Physical: N / A (Attack stat is too low)
Special: Fire Blast, Solar Beam, Giga Drain, Focus Blast, Flamethrower Hidden Power, Chilli Spray
Status: Nasty Plot, Leech Seed, Synthesis, Sunny Day.
Chilli Spray: 60 BP, 15PP, Special, Grass-type, 100 Accuracy, Burns the opponent (100%). Animation: Acid Spray. Z-effect: 120 BP Special Bloom Doom.
Sprite: Weepinbell coloured red
Weight (for Low Kick / Heavy Slam calcs, give in pounds and kilos): 5 kg, 11.02 lbs.
Egg Group(s): Grass
Competitive use: Chilopino would be a great Pokémon for both Grass and Fire teams. On Grass teams, it provides a key Fire immunity, and can even stall out Volcarona that lack Bug Buzz, a notable niche indeed. It also provides a check to Mono Steel teams, which can normally defeat Grass fairly easily. It would most likely run a defensive set using Flash Fire on Mono Grass teams, although Chlorophyll sets with Sunny Day could be viable. On Mono Fire, it could run both a Chlorophyll sweeper set and a defensive set using Water Absorb. The Chlorophyll set could be a great late game cleaner - a +2 Fire Blast 2HKOes Chansey in sun. The Water Absorb set would be a great asset to check Mono Water teams, which can normally run over Mono Fire with ease.
Is it broken?: Personally I don't believe it would be - outside Sun it's pretty slow, and while it does help Grass and Fire check types they normally struggle with, it still has common weaknesses with both types: Flying and Poison for Grass, Rock for Fire. What's more, besides Special Attack and HP, the rest of its stats are pretty average.

Q&A

What's the banlist?

Current Monotype Banlist.

Can my creation be a new forme / mega evolution / evolution of a pre-existing Pokémon?

New forme or evolution, yes. Mega, no.

Can my creation be a legendary / psuedo legendary / ultra beast?

Yes to all, however I don't want to flood the meta with ultra powerful Pokemon, so I'm going to draw the line at 1 of the above Pokemon per slate. If your Pokemon is a legendary, it must have have a BST of either 580 or 600. If it's a pseudo legendary, it must have a BST of 600. If it's an Ultra Beast, it must have a BST of 570, all of its base stats must be prime numbers (see here for list of prime numbers), and it must have Beast Boost as its only ability.

Can my nomination have a signature move / ability?

Yes, however you must explain what it does.

Can my nomination have multiple forms?

Yes - however I draw the line at 2. And please no in battle transformations, as that's more work for the programmers.

If one of my nominations is later found to be broken, what happens?

It will be removed and nerfed, if it's massively broken it will removed altogether. It will not take away from your total wins.

Can I change my nominations?

Yes - just edit your post before the voting begins.

Is there a BST limit for my creations?

Yes. For your non legendary / pseudo / ultra beast creations the limit will be 520. If you choose to give a +10 stat boost to a Pokemon that already has a BST of over 520, you must subtract 10 points from another of its stats. In the case of Ultra Beasts, keep its base stats as prime numbers.

If I get to buff a preexisting Pokemon, can I give it a move or ability that someone else (or I) submitted earlier?

Yes, if that creation has already won. If someone came up with a move called Dragon Song, that boosts Speed and Special Attack by one stage, you could then give it to, say, Altaria or Meloetta if you wished.

What could I do for a new mechanic?

Examples:
Explosion once again halves defence
The gem items are all available (Fairy Gem exists in the coding)
Stealth Rock now deals 5% neutral, 2.5% to resists, 1% to X4 resists, 10% to weak, 25% to X4 weak
Normal poison halves Special Attack
Ice types resist Fairy moves; Fairy types are hit for X2 damage by Ice type attacks
Shell Armor weakens special attacks used on the Pokemon by 25%.

Useful resources?

Use this damage calculator to get a rough idea of how your creation would do. On Pokemon Showdown, in any room, type /weak [type], [type] and it will give you a list of that typing's weaknesses and resists.

I don't want to be a pain on the butt, but I think this looks really similar to Type Optimisation, another Pet Mod focused around the use of new type combos and other stuff. Otherwise, the idea is good.

Type Optimisation isn't about creating new pokemons, though the idea behind it is similar.

I really like how the pet mod is centered about submissions more than theorizing/playing. I would definitively like to see that mod happens!

That metagame is based on OU, this one would be based on Monotype. Seems like a small change but really the metas are drastically different. Stuff that can be checked in one tier can't in another - Magearna and Kartana were too strong in Monotype, but are fine in OU - Deoxys-S and Landorus-I were too much for OU, but are both balanced in Monotype. Likewise, some Pokémon that are unviable in OU like Armaldo and Golem-Alola are good in Monotype.

Appreciate the feedback.

Have fun dealing with:
  • Unaware Toxapex
  • No Guard Hypnosis (or zap cannon) Gengar
  • Refrigerate Kyurem(-Black)
  • Aerilate Lando-T
  • Steelworker Stakataka/Celesteela
  • And other really broken stuff :D

I would not play this. I generally don't like being restricted in what I can and can't use, and with the new abilities why wouldn't I just play Almost Any Ability? Granted I can't use Contrary or Psychic Surge there, but still. Overall it just doesn't do anything for me. That and there's a lot of broken shit. Anyone for Psychic Surge Alakazam and Contrary Terrakion?

Suggestions:

Thick Fat seems weird for Grass types, personally think they'd be better suited to either Regenerator or Chlorophyll. Alternatively, it's weird that they don't get Grassy Surge when every other type surge gets it.

Thick Fat>Fur Coat makes more sense for ice imo, especially since Fur Coat's one of those silly abilities and all. I'd personally also replace Refrigerate with Snow Warning, but I'll go more into why later.

Poison's abilities would be probably better suited as Corrosion/Merciless. Simple and Unaware don't really seem to make much sense.

Compoundeyes is the perfect ability to give Bug types, fits better than Stamina imo. It's also definitely not a bad ability. Tinted Lens is great for flavor but is maybe too good.

Normal's abilities are good.

Now that we're at Fairy, I think giving every one of these mons an "ate" ability is kinda busted. Unless they're a defensive mon or have an extraordinarily good ability already, they'll probably just default to the -ate and that's boring if predictable. I feel like Shield Dust might work better here, or Natural Cure. Not exactly sure what else could be given to Fairy, maybe Fairy Aura?

I kind of like Analytic more than Unaware for Psychic, but it's not a big change. Unaware's a little strong I feel.

Fighting's Tough Claws is good, but I feel like Guts, Reckless, No Guard, or Iron Fist would all fit better than Contrary. Also lol close combat contrary lol superpower contrary lol hammer arm contrary ect ect.

Mummify and No Guard are both fine for Ghost. Might consider replacing No Guard for Shadow Shield if it doesn't seem too broken.

Dark's abilities are good, might personally swap one of them for Intimidate though. Dark Aura if you give Fairy types Fairy Aura though.

Galvanize is another busted -ate. Magnet Pull is more interesting, or you could go Volt Absorb or Motor Drive. Could do teravolt too if you want to keep turboblaze for fire.

Desolate Land is stupid strong. Drought is less broken and can at least offer either support or disincentive you using it because it'll annoy your team. I think Victory Star's more interesting than a mold breaker clone personally, especially since there's incentive to use it for the accuracy boost to Fire Blast and such. Main reason against it is that it's a worse Compoundeyes which Bug gets.

Rock seems fine, although No Guard would be an interesting choice over Sheer Force, though flavorwise obviously Rock Head or Solid Rock are the best.

Primordial Sea's still stupid strong, Drizzle's less. Skill Link's bizarre though considering how many water themed abilities there are. Water Veil, Storm Drain or even Hydration are all interesting and fit better.

Double STAB steel's might be a little much and worth replacing with Technician, although considering Drought and Drizzle maybe not.

No weakness flying types is a little excessive. Cloud Nine or Air Lock are much better thematic fits. -Ate's still busted, Unburden might be better.

Ground's Dry Skin is a little weird, and so is Guts. Stamina might make more sense, you can also give them Sand Stream too, Sheer Force is surprisingly fitting too.

Dragon's Rough Skin seems underpowered and Multiscale seems a little overpowered considering the kind of setup moves Dragon types get. Sheer Force wouldn't be out of place here, but this feels a little nitpicky tbh.

I probably wouldn't play this meta though if I'm being honest - I might play one without the added abilities (no two Pokemon on the team can share a type) though, that seems vaguely interesting if familiar.

Adrenaline Rush
So the idea behind this metagame is to give pokemon who are low on health an advantage. Every pokemon that is on 25% health or lower gains an adrenaline rush(basically a free custap berry) on the next turn. This makes it so the next move the pokemon uses always moves first in it's priority bracket(just like custap). This can be consumed right away or conserved if the pokemon switches out. Every pokemon may trigger it's adrenaline rush only once. And before you ask: Yes, z-moves can be used with this aswell.
Bans:
-Ou banlist
Expected Threats and Abusers:
-Suicide Leads( Azelf, Excadrill,Smeargle,Forretress etc...)
-Pokemon with the ability Sturdy
- Dragonite with Multiscale
-Mimikyu
- Anything that likes running sash or resistance berries to survive on rather low health
Questions:
Do you think this metagame would be fun?
Any obvious quickbans that should happen?

Useful suggestions are implemented! Deleted my other posts and have it edited below with just 1 ability.

Only 1 Pokemon per type can be used per team, (changing/adding/removing types during battle IS allowed). You can decide if you want to either keep the Pokémon’s original ability or a new one based on type below, and 2 Type Pokemon can choose from either of their 2 types.
Justifications-
Ice has Magic Bounce because when you look at Ice you see a reflection. Flying has Gale Wings because it is strong but reliant on perfect health, Rock has Solid Rock due to many weaknesses (having Sandstream obligates other weathers which are less creative). Dragon has Neuroforce because Necrozma’s Ultimate Form gets it as it becomes a Dragon Type, and it won’t be too overpowered because the foe has to be hit super effectively for the 1.2 X boost.
Grass: Grassy Surge
Ice: Magic Bounce
Poison: Merciless
Bug: Tinted Lens
Normal: Scrappy
Fairy: Misty Surge
Psychic: Psychic Surge
Fighting: Sheer Force
Ghost: No Guard
Dark: Prankster
Electric: Electric Surge
Fire: Turboblaze
Rock: Solid Rock
Water: Dry Skin
Steel: Filter
Flying: Gale Wings
Ground: Adaptability
Dragon: Moldbreaker

Why not, like, Mold Breaker? Using a legendary exclusive ability is kind of too much imo. Not because it's overpowered, more because of flavor.
I guess so, but I already doubled up on Filter and Solid Rock, wasn’t sure if Mold Breaker and Turboblaze would be “cheating” in the creativity.
But you are right, my only concern is that Dragons have really tough Attacks as is. I’ll switch it.

Noobmons

You can only use moves and items with a certain amount of usage or below lets say 0.1%

Ou based

thoughts?
is this too similar to another meta?
could this be fun?
to hard to code?
anything look scary?
