Media Metalheads Thread III

really digging that So Hideous, just discovered them a couple days ago and had to work them into the set.

Yeah, they're pretty awesome. I think I posted them before itt, but I didn't realize they had shortened their name until recently. Seems like their new album had a bit more of a hardcore influenced sound.

Also, I forgot I really liked Amenra's Mass III.

Just found this band called As Autumn Calls and I cannot get enough of them. They're this death/black/doom band with some of the best melodies I've ever heard in metal. Their album from this year, Cold, Black & Everlasting is amazing stuff, aoty contender for me. Highest recommendation.

you guys like urfaust? Man their music is something else

listen to them vocals man

es stmospheric black metal, kinda

TOP 10 OF THIS YEAR #HYPE

10. Children of Bodom - Halo of Blood
9. Dark Tranquillity - Construct
8. Windhand - Soma
7. Ulcerate - Vermis
6. Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony
5. Altar of Plagues - Teethed Glory and Injury
4. As Autumn Calls - Cold, Black & Everlasting
3. Paysage D'Hiver - Das Tor
2. Carcass - Surgical Steel
1. Gorguts - Colored Sands

Yes, I put Bodom and DT ahead of Sunbather. Sue me.

Not going to bother making a top ten list, since I'm too indecisive.

On an unrelated note, gave Septicflesh's The Great Mass another listen, and decided I liked it quite a bit.

dunno about that but i'm going to see bodom in march and carcass / gorguts in april, both in nyc... gonna be so sick

speaking of at the gates, did you hear about the new album?

At the Gates is kinda meh for me, but then again, melodeath doesn't do much for me.

the red in the sky is ours is just straight death (maybe a little bit of melodeath here and there but not nearly as prominent as on slaughter of the soul) and it is ~flawless~

So apparently Hydra Head Records put a bunch of the test pressings of their vinyl albums on sale today, which is a goldmine in terms of collector's shit. By the time I found out about it pretty much everything good was gone, but I THINK was able to snag the test press for Kayo Dot's Blue Lambency Downward (not one of their best albums, I know, but you take what you can get). I say think because the store hasn't updated for the purchase yet, so if you were to go the the store now it would look like it was still available, so perhaps I was after someone else? Anyway all the items that were up for sale are still listed in the store, so you can see all of the awesome rare shit we missed out on :(

i'd have a 4 hour drive to DC, but i know the bassist for StS and i'm fairly certain he can get me on the list, and i have a couch to crash on up there, so i think i could make it happen.

i'm fucking obsessed with that album/that band.

it's membbers of Arcana Coalestia and Progenie Teresstre Pura, so i now have a new favorite scene.
