Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

for those of you who own a wii, you should already know about this game from the channel nintendo put up for download. anyways, it officially comes out today although some stores are putting them up tomorrow. so, has anyone been looking forward to this game as much as i have? i've been pretty hyped up about it for a week now and now that its finally out i'm pretty sure it's going to be a fucking amazing game. ign gave it a 9.5, nintendo power gave it a 10, and 1up gave it a 9, which tells you how good a game its supposed to be.

so yeah my original question: who else is getting this?

Heck yeah I'm getting this, I'm a longtime Metroid fan. Hunters was a bit of a let-down for me, but Corruption looks like a return to form and I can't wait.

Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to wait. Not due out in the UK for some time.

This game looks amazing. And the way people talk about it make it seem like it is going to revolutionize FPS. I hope thats true since i love FPS. If only it had online multiplayer it would be perfect.

I will be getting it, but when it releases over here in Europe =[ I've heard it's the best Metroid game, which must mean it's fucking amazing since the others are already immense.

Gametrailers gave it a 9,6. "Easily better than Metroid Prime".

And damn you, IGN. The first thing they say is "there are spoilers in this video, so watch at your own risk." ... D=

I'll probably get it next week. If only Nintendo "worked" in Brasil... =/

Erm, I'd like if you guys don't spoil things. Or at least alert there's one coming. Thank you. :toast:

that's what i'm excited about lol. every metroid game has been incredibly detailed and awesome in nearly every category. if corruption is truly the ultimate game of the series, then the answer to whether or not someone should buy it is a no-brainer.

Can't play it 'til Friday when I get home so I'm all sad now =( Second most anticipated game of the year for me (after Smash).

I'll get this the day it comes out in the UK, which is late October time. I thought the first Metroid Prime was amazing. Never got round to getting or playing the second one.

I'm expecting Corruption to be amazing, hopefully it won't let me down.

Uh, I bought MP2 just so that I wouldn't be behind when this came out. I might be able to convince my parents to buy it today. If not, I will get it soon.

Well seeing as I just have to wait for the UPS guy to deliver it(I hate the store rush) I'll have to get back to you on it. It does look fantastic although I'm not such a fan of beam stacking as I am of being able to switch between 4. Download videos look great though. PED suit is hilarious.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked on this game, Ecne. I played the first Metroid Prime on GameCube, never played Echoes. This one has gotten a lot of hype and it seriously looks amazing. I can't wait to play it.

Oh, and of course Nintendo Power gave it a 10. First party Nintendo games automatically get a score of 8 or above in that magazine (yeah I went there, come and fight me NSider kids).

Ahhh fuck this is the one game I've been waiting and on release day I have no money so i'm probably getting in a week or two. That being said this game looks better than than the other two and seeing as how Prime 1 and Echoes were so awesome I expect this to be an epic game. The one thing I really want to see is Ridley's return though.

Sure. I'll give it a go.

Hey dumbass, maybe you should get those blind "I'm cool and hate Nintendo Power" glasses off your eyes and see that shit has changed. Until around 2000 or 2001 Nintendo Power had a completely retarded system of scoring so that pretty much no game could ever receive a 10. They were also a marketing tool.

Between 2001 and 2005, the magazine used a "star" system where basically every review got almost a perfect score. It was crap. This is where we're stuck in.

Now maybe you should bring yourself to the present. 2007. In 2005, the magazine was redesigned, the writers given more freedom, and the reviews greatly improved. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the only game since the redesign to get 10/10. Second if you count Resident Evil 4 for GCN which they re-scored after the review overhaul.

Also, last time I checked Pokemon Battle Revolution got a 6.5. I think 6.5 is less than 8, but I'm not sure.

Whoa hey, I was just being facetious, but okay...

I never really read Nintendo Power up until this year, and even now I only skim through an issue every so often. I'm not stuck on the old Nintendo Power at all.

But from what I have seen, the NP review crew is pretty generous with their scoring. THIS IS JUST HOW I SEE IT; I don't know, maybe Nintendo games are just better than a majority of the third party stuff out there (and they probably are, Nintendo makes solid games). I never said that I hated Nintendo Power, I just take it with a grain of salt -- same as I do with all reviews. Maybe even more so now that I think about it, because I do sort of view Nintendo Power as a Nintendo marketing tool.

I mean, cool beans.

nintendo power is pretty generous in their reviews, but as of recently they've been a bit tougher on some games. mario party 8 was given a 7.5, rune factory and heatseeker, two hyped games, got a similar treatment. they are a marketing tool for sure, as they make a game seem excellent and then make a review saying its shit, but i think the 10 was fine, although it didn't really touch upon any of the problems the game apparently has. i don't usually go by nintendo power ratings anyways, ign is the review site for me.

although a 10 is pretty cool, despite some bias.

I am sooo going to get this game tomorrow! Metroid is my favourite game franchise ever, and I can hardly wait to see how the Prime trilogy ends! This was actually the reason I bought a Wii, not for Smash Bros., or anything else, but to play the Metroid Prime games.

I beat Prime on Hard mode with 100% Scans and Items on Saturday, and I've beaten both Prime and Echoes on Normal mode. I liked Echoes, but I don't think I'll be playing it again too soon. Too dull with the Light and Dark worlds IMO. If Corruption captures the atmosphere of the original, I'll be a happy camper, that's for sure.

The preview channel really got me pumped, moreso than I was before. I mean, who ever saw those little movie-esque trailers coming? The gameplay videos left a little to be desired though, or at least the ones with the Morph Ball did. I've never been a big fan of the Morph Ball to be honest.

I'm glad that Ridley is returning this time around, and I have a feeling that we'll get to fight him at least three times (First in Morph Ball tunnel, then falling like E3, then probably right before the final boss like in Prime), as Ridley has never been out of the game too early IIRC. I'm also hoping for the hunters to get corrupted (they probably will); a Rundas battle would probably be pretty awesome.

In short, yeah, I'm real excited to pick up this game tomorrow!

Yes. The first Metroid I played was Prime. But try to watch the Gametrailers Metroid Retrospective (5 parts), they'll show you how the game works and the history.

I watched IGN's review of the game (and since I most often agree with what they say), I'm expecting an amazing 9.5 game. Nintendo Power giving it a 10 surprises me... I mean, they're not as good as IGN for game rating, IMO, but IIRC, not even TP they gave a 10 (even though fans wanted and expected that), though I did agree with the score.

I played Prime 1, and that sorta opened me up to other FPS' (yeah, yeah, I know, it's an FPA). Prime Hunters was a great, quick burst of wifi action, although the 1P left LOTS to be desired. Prime 2 was... lacking, I guess. So I'm expecting Retro to make it up to me with 3...

I've already preordered the game, and I'm really looking forward to tommorrow. Too bad I have to work. =( But whatever. As soon as I get home...

Anyway, some of the things in the IGN video really intrigued me, such as meeting old "friends", and the whole thing about the galactic war. That's what often seems to hook me in, the story. But the gameplay keeps me there... I'm more psyched than I was the night camping out for Wii! :o

lol, I just did it because you asked for it =D It was fun.
Although it is annoying when people scream bias bias bias just because it has the name "Nintendo" in the name. It's been great lately.

I have never played any Metroid game, I always wanted to though.

Should I get this?

Download Super Metroid off the Virtual Console for $8 first. Or Metroid Prime for the GCN at $20. Prime 3 is the last part of the Prime trilogy, it's not that storybased but you might like to play the first two games anyway.

I'm going to get the game no matter what, but I was just wondering if I needed to play any other Metroid games to acually "get into" Metroid Prime 3.
