THINGS I HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS CC:
the best way to win is to commit 4 of your mons to destroying anything even vaguely bulky, offense be damned
vast majority of my losses were against impermissibly bad teams with things like solarbeam torkoal. guess how many times i lost to normal. guess. 0. good team.

Monotype Core Laddering Challenge Season 2 Cycle 3
2 Cores, October 22 - November 5 (extending time)

Flying

Togekiss + Thundurus-I
Tag : CCS2Fl3
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1600+
Gold: 1450+
Silver: 1325+
Bronze: 1250+
Togekiss - Togekiss is often not used on flying due to how it generally gets outclassed by Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Thundurus-T as a special attacker. However this does not mean it is completely useless on the type. Running Togekiss allows you to have a decent revenge killer with a decent movepool that allows you to run less coverage on a different sweeper, like Double Dance Thundurus not having to use focus blast on offensive teams. It may also run a thunder wave paraflinch set that can lockdown walls like Toxapex or boost its destructive power with nasty plot, this along with its ability to check Mega-scizor for some Scizor-weak flying teams allows it to still have a niche on Flying.
Thundurus-I- Thundurus-I is a great mon to assist Togekiss with its access to thunder wave and a good movepool selection that appreciates Togekiss' ability to compress coverage. It also can knock out opposing flying pokemon like Celesteela to make Togekiss' job easier.

Poison

Gengar + Golbat
Tag: CCS2Po3
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1600+
Gold: 1450+
Silver: 1325+
Bronze: 1200+
Gengar - While it is more popular on ghost and with its loss of levitate in gen 7, gengar isn't seen a ton on standard poison teams. However its ghost typing and speed tier allow it to help immensely with opposing psychic types like Mega-gallade, and can act as a greater form of speed control than nihilego.
Golbat - While it may appear to be inferior to crobat in every way, Golbat is actually bulkier than crobat with an eviolite, and can almost bring the same amount of utility crobat had. With it only losing a ton of speed, with a proper team golbat and its added bulk allow poison's already strong defensive core even more strong.

Grass

Roserade + Decidueye
Tag : CCS2Gr3
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1550+
Gold: 1425+
Silver: 1300+
Bronze: 1200+

Roserade : Grass's one of greatest strenghts is being capable of beating bulky / fat teams with the hazardstacking, its access to both spikes and toxic spikes makes it an option as hazard setter pokemon. Its good speed tier and acceptable Sp.Atk lets Roserade run offensive sets aswell.
Decidueye : This pokemon is a good offensive addition to grass teams. Its access to spirit shackles lets it trap and eliminate certain threats, while Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch servers a key role in a Psychic matchup as well as revenge killing some choice locked pokemons.

Ghost

Dusclops + Gourgeist
Tag: CCS2Gh3
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1550+
Gold: 1425+
Silver: 1300+
Bronze: 1200+

Gourgeist : Gourgeist is only there because its halloween! All jokes aside, its access to Leech Seed, Will-o-Wisp and being able to spam substitutes from a fast variant makes Gourgeist a very annoying pokemon to deal with.

Dusclops : Dusclops high natural bulk paired with eviolite makes it a very hard mon to kill. Its access to meanlook lets dusclops fulfill a crucial duty for ghost, which is trapping. Trapping is very well appreciated by ghost teams, as the type lacks good wallbreakers to get thru common physical walls like Toxapex and Porygon2.
