QUESTION FOR FOLKS WITH NO AR/FLASHCART WHO BREED FOR IVs
What is your preferred method for checking your frame when you hatch an egg?
Do you have a rare candy stash and do it that way?
Do you use the IV man?
The hidden power guy?
Level it up via battling?
Put it in daycare?
And finally, I am considering doing some work to try to make this easier and that is to show the Hidden Power on the breeding frames (will require user to input parent IVs) and showing what the characteristic of the pokemon for a particular frame should be (will require user to enter PID for accurate tie breakers).
This would give two comparison points, as you could match characteristic and use the platinum hidden power man to check and hopefully make it very fast and painless for non-AR users to check the frame that was hit.
Is this even useful or something anyone would want to see?

I've used the HP man for a very long time, so yes. I check the IV man too, just in case, but only afterwards, and only if he says the potential of the Pokemon is "outstanding". If all else fails, I just take note of the IV description on the pokemon's status page (especially if it's a description for 31/30) and match it, since some Pokemon can't have their hidden powers read (magikarp eww) As a note, serebii's numbers for "scatters things often" and "often scatters things" are incorrect .-.
I used to have to resort to leveling up through the daycare/my stash of pal parked rare candies, but I rarely ever have to use that method anymore ;> The only time I have to catch a magikarp is if none of the coin flips match.
On another note - I know it was mentioned before, but just to make sure - for a wild catch, if my number ends up as 85, it would fall within the 85 < x < 80 slot range, right? @_@
Ok, sounds like you have a pretty decent process for eliminating those which are not correct through the IV man, which is definitely useful. Assume you manually calculate the hidden power of the hatched egg via parents and the inheritance? And why can't a reading be taken off of Magikarp?
Also, keep in mind this is not just about eliminating candidates, it's about finding out what frame you actually did land on.
On the other note, no.
Divide by 656 (with no remainder or rounding).
This gives a result between 0 and 99.
This number is then evaluated to produce and encounter slot that is between 0 and 11 (12 possible values).
Slot 0: 0-19 20%
Slot 1: 20-39 20%
Slot 2: 40-49 10%
Slot 3: 50-59 10%
Slot 4: 60-69 10%
Slot 5: 70-79 10%
Slot 6: 80-84 5%
Slot 7: 85-89 5%
Slot 8: 90-93 4%
Slot 9: 94-97 4%
Slot 10: 98 1%
Slot 11: 99 1%
Here is some data if someone wants to find out how the ID and SID are made based on the seed or whatever. Using a debugger like no$gba would probably be easier.
I'm not seeing any connection between the seed and your ID numbers in RNG Reporter.
Baseless speculation time - I wonder if Trainer ID and Secret ID generation are handled by the same RNG as Wonder Card PIDs...? (Having no debugger skills, I can't go farther with this)
It means you have to flip it to a page that has a caught or captured Pokemon 50 times. They don't have to be next to each other. Pages that don't have this don't advance the RNG. So basically:
Flip 50 times to a page which lists a captured pokemon.
Yes, using sweet scent advances the frame by 2 when in caves and grass, and 3 while in water.
The frame advances a total of 7 times however in grass and caves, and 8 when in water after you end the battle with the wild Pokemon.
Ok, so just to clarify (I don't want to spend 300 hours trying to do this, only to find out I'm doing it incorrectly)
If I had to get to 200 frames in game, I could flip the journal to a pokemon caught page 99 times, and then use sweet scent, and I would have successfully gotten to 200 frames and the sweet scented pokemon would be my target pokemon, correct?
So basically flipping to a page with a capped pokemon advances the RNG by 2, meaning if your value is 64 you would flip to a pokemon 32 times. And: does using Sweet Scent advance the # of frames at all?
You just have to SR and hope you get your delay. It would help, if we knew just exactly what you were trying to do. Are you catching a pokemon or breeding?
