Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Not if you're finding the seed/frame for your Egg. You need to begin right in front of the Day Care Man to pick up the Egg as soon as the Journal is closed so that you get an accurate frame. I think that's what he is doing. Finding his Egg frame/seed.

Also have a question: does surfing advance frames? Because I have been catching the high level Golduck in the Resort Area after picking up my Egg, but the thing is I verified plenty of times with the coin flip trick, yet the IVs do not match. Do I have an incorrect frame? Maybe?

Whatever happens after you get the egg, with regards to your frame, does not matter. But yes, surfing does it advance it. It is the same as walking on a tile where Pokemon can be captured. But, as I said, that really doesn't matter when you are already holding the egg.

To find the frame, seed with the initial seed you targeted (assume you hit it and verified with flips) and match up the IVs of the egg after you hatch it.

@ Seph - Nice work, you might want to edit a new section into your post with that information. At some point when I start adding appendices I can see those tricks being worked into the OP.

But the gist is:

1. Using the vs. seeker/battling stops wandering NPCs who can battle.
2. If you save with them stopped they are stopped when you reload.
3. If you save with an area defogged it loads defogged.

Yep, basically. Also, using the Start menu to pause the RNG helps if you can have as many of the remaining wanderers in sight as possible. Route 210 just luckily had only one guy left who I could save next to and keep tabs on.

And sure, I'll edit the tips in tomorrow :D Going to take a break and sleep now. Good night~

Quick question. If i'm advancing the IRNG by tapping the happiness poketch, and i accidentally hit the button to change apps and then change back... is one change = 1 tap?

LoL am I the only one that's having trouble hitting my target delay. It seems that everyone that Tries gets it but when i try it usually ends up like my life, a big dissappointment.

My average delay is 636 but I need to get 629, aprox. 0.11 secs fastr than my average. Also it takes 14 seconds for me to get from the start screen to the game world how would I calibrate emloop to aid me in targetting my delay ?

I did it, and I got a frame of 3 each time. So I input that into the Time Finder and got the results. But like I said, sometimes when I verify IVs after verifying coin flips, they don't match the results. Maybe it's just bad luck. I'm going to re-check my Delays and see if I don't land on a particular one more often. That should narrow it down. I had a Mode of 604, but then again I only checked it twice. I'm going to get more data on the Delay. Thanks for answering my question. :)

need help with this i have microsoft .NET downloaded installed and everything i downloaded the rng from eggmove.com and i cant open it its just a whitebox and an error message pops up pm if u can help

I'm trying my hand at SRing for IV spreads with higher delays, and I'm a little confused.

My normal Seconds value is 14 and my delay is 596 - 606. I found a spread for Timid HP fighting with a delay of 620. So I'm working my way through Syberia's artical and adding +96 to give me a head start. So I pop my value of 716 into emloop, which gives me 11.93 seconds. I take off the .93 and add .2 (60.2) in the predelay box (The green one).

The issue is, about the fastest seconds value I can physically hit is 13 seconds, but emloop is telling me to hit it faster for a longer delay?

I'm sure I've missed something, but I'm can't quite see what it is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Matt

The RNG doesn't start until about 200 frames in (for me at least). Try setting Emloop to, say, 1000 frames, then use the seed finder to find out what you really hit (should be around 1200). Adjust your time accordingly.

Quick question, the OP in this thread explains how to use RNGReporter in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Is it used the same way in Emerald? (because both generations use the same method, method 1, to generate wild pokemon)

Alright, I've found that I can hit the delay 610 more often than others, so if I need 617 delay, can I just change my year to 2016 to make that 617 be 610?
So you would change it to 2002. Decreasing Year Increases Delay and vice versa.

So whenever one of the NPC walks, it advances the frame by 1 when I am trying to pick up the game?

While the RNG's generate in the same pattern, you can't use the directions in the OP in Emerald. Emerald's RNG is time based, not action based like DPPt.

@Shinymilotic. You most certainly can do this to get your desired delay.

@Ditto, NPC movements advance the frame by what I'm assuming is one. However, I'm not entirely sure on this. I just know they change the frame.

Firstly, thanks very much for replying.

So, the same spread (& method for generating a spread) can be used for both Platinum & Emerald? (ie. the method explained in the OP of this thread, under "how to capture perfect pokemon").

But you just need to advance the RNG in Platinum, and use a stopwatch (or other timing method) in Emerald?

Thanks in advance.

@Stingray spin

The same spread can be obtained. However, you CAN'T use the same method explained in the OP of this thread, as I thought I made clear ealier. You need to use emloop/a stopwatch in Emerald. I think you should visit this link and read up:
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50696

Don't ask me how to do this. I was only successful hitting a crappy test spread and never pursued this too hard.

Ok bearsfan, thanks for the explanation. But what I'm getting at is...you said:

"The same spread can be obtained. However, you CAN'T use the same method"

I know you can't use the same METHOD (as you've graciously pointed out!), but can you use the same SPREAD (generated in RNGReporter) for both games (and just switch the method)?

Nope. Unlike in DPPt, Emerald is stuck on one seed (zero, or leave the seed field in RNG Reporter blank). This seed happens to be unobtainable in DPPt.

Okay so I messed up my taps on a 1049 tap spread, but fortunately I tapped less so I can still hit the frame.
So I just collected the egg which is frame 12584, how many taps/flips do i do to get to frame 12606?

22 Frames - 1 Frame (For egg creation) = 21 Frames

1 Tap
9 Flips

No, I was talking about the thing for shinyness(trying to lock into the egg); I'm not doing IVs yet.

EDIT: Argh, I think I overshot my target :(
I forgot that when you switch away from the happiness checker it counts as a tap D:

EDIT2: This is too tedious, does anyone have a working link to download ShinyFinder? When I clicked the one MinusOne gave it didn't work.
