Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

mm.... did you check your DS's time/date/minutes? They might be in the wrong place (if they matter)... >_<
Odds are, he wouldn't have been able to generate his initial seed if this were the problem. Riddlinkid, I suggest recollecting all info the hard way, just to eliminate sources of error. I'm predisposed to say user errors in situations like this.

He could still find his seed if they were entered wrong. The year just changes the delay, and the minutes change the delay too or something. The hours, if wrong, will most likely not make any seed.

Odds are you are making a mistake somewhere that you don't know. Maybe you do have your SID wrong or just something else, I don't know what it is.

Hello again, I'm having a little trouble with Dialga. I've nailed the starting frame, checking it by matching up the coin flips for the first 30 (I'm paranoid). Now from here, I keep doing what I assume is the correct method:

147-1 -0 = 146 / 2 = 73 Journal Flips.

I have 0 roaming pokemon on the game, and going by the list on the first page of method J starting frames, Dialga is 1. But I have done this at least 3 times, and caught completely different Dialga each time. I suspect it's something to do with what is displaying on my Journal. Here's all my info:

Method J
Seed: f0020268
Frame: 147
PID: ff59cd99
Syncher: Quiet
Nature: Quiet
Date: 2012 05 25 (25th May 2012)
Time: 02:56:59
Reset: 02:56:00
Delay: 604

I have been starting at frame 1, and and +2 each time I go to the page with the defeated PIDGEY on. After 73 flips, shouldn't it be the correct Dialga that I face in battle? I've successfully followed this method for Heatran, Regice and Azelf so far...but Dialga seems to be harder. Can anyone shed some light on why I'm not encountering the right Dialga?

EDIT: Forget it - I did it :D I must have been messing up when counting the Journal flips..

riddlinkid @ I'm guessing you might've put your SID wrong, as SID determines shinyness..

I just tried using Wichu's program, but it's only giving me like 5 spreads when I searched for 20+/20+/20+/20+/20+/20+ ANY nature 0~2000 frames 596~704 delays.. (NON-shiny) What's up with that?

The 'frame' is not the same as the 'frame' in RNG Reporter. In this case, it's the Emerald frame; what you're doing is searching only 2000 spreads.

OMFG

I just hatched a RANDOM Shiny Caterpie O__O
Here's the story:

I was doing a BP for Tase (Shiny Hasty Butterfree HP Fire 70).
I needed a Caterpie with 30 SpA and Speed.
So I just bred a 30 SpA Caterpie, left it at the Daycare, and made a new egg (no shiny frames generated or anything), I saved in front of the daycare man, and started resetting.

I hatched the egg for the first time, hoping to get 30 SpA and 30 Speed, but I wasn't looking to my DS when the egg hatched, so I went to check it's IVs, and I was shocked to see a yellow Caterpie on my screen =O

The other parent was Syberia's Ditto though, but it's still a 1/2048 chance shiny, and my first random one in 4th gen.

It's nature is Gentle though =/

This could be a very stupid question, but with the shiny egg hatch method, you can see what nature, ability and gender it will become.
but I don't understand how it determines what gender it will become.

it lists it like this: 50%F 12.5%M 25%M 75%F
How do I know what it will become?

is it possible to let you search for a certain gender in an update of RNG rep?

The 12.5% column is its gender if the species is 12.5% female
The 25% column is its gender if the species is 25% female
The 50% column is its gender if the species is 50% female
The 75% column is its gender if the species is 75% female

Refer to the column that matches the gender ratio for the Pokemon you are breeding.

So in your example, the child would be female if it was a Pokemon with an even or 75% female ratio and male if it was a Pokemon with a 25% female or 12.5% female ratio.

The 12.5% column is its gender if the species is 12.5% female
The 25% column is its gender if the species is 25% female
The 50% column is its gender if the species is 50% female
The 75% column is its gender if the species is 75% female

Refer to the column that matches the gender ratio for the Pokemon you are breeding.

ok, thanks. so for example elecid, 25% female and 75% male.
If there is standing 12.5M 25F 50F 75M I should look at the 25, not the 75, so it should become female. is that right?

That is an impossible result. It cannot be female at 50% and yet male at 75%.

In the case of Elekid, you should look at the 25% column so yes, that will be a female.

I have a question. When I'm trying to hit the seed I want, do I have to get the delay exact too? Or just the second? Because I resetted at least 20 times and I still haven't hit the seed I want (I.e. Coin Flip method of checking).

Yeah, you've got to hit the exact time and delay in order to get the right seed. If it were just time, it'd be alot easier.

Okay, quick question. I'm trying to get an HP 70 Grass for my Magnezone, and I've found a spread that works for that, but I just randomly changed the frames on the program, and now I see that I'm on a different frame than my target one. Is there any way to change it? This is for breeding, so I don't think poketaps/coin flips will, but it might help. PS: It's 2 frames up from where I'm at.

Two frames up? That's a problem. What I suggest is save and land on a new frame until you either land on the frame or land a multiple of two below the frame, and then proceed to use journal flips to advance to your desired point.

Ok, going back to my problem yesterday, I have had my SID rechecked and I had it correct. Today I tried once more and made sure I had my ID and SID entered correctly. I used the International Egg PID method w/Syberia's ditto and a pokemon bred on my own game. I checked these parents beforehand with the everstone to make 100% sure they were international. I chose the first shiny spread, 45 taps 8 flips, hit it, but the egg was not shiny. This is the ONLY time I have had trouble with getting a shiny egg and the ONLY time I have used the international method. I will test later using the regular DPPt Egg PID method to see if I can still get those shiny eggs. I don't see what I could be doing wrong in my method, and my SID and ID obviously are not the problem. I'm at a loss at this point I guess. Anything else that could cause this?

Just to make sure, since I'm paranoid:

If I'm catching a Pokemon in the wild, non-Legendary, in a place with no NPCs, my frame starts at 0? *_*; Like in front of the Pokemon League in the water.

So if I saved, reloaded the game and hit my delay, and needed to get a frame of 651 on the water, I would:

- first subtract 3 from 651 for Sweet Scent
- then flip 648/2 = 324 Journal pages

And then SS for my Pokemon? ._.

-edit-

Cause I read this a few days ago:

4. I have not released any roaming Pokémon (traded for Mesprit's dex entry :D). Does this mean that when I begin the game, my frame is set at 0, 1, or what? I plan on using Sweet Scent, and I see that using it in the grass advances the seed by 1... how do I account for this? I'm a bit confused about the differences between advancing the seed and advancing the frame.
Starts at zero. I'm still very confused about sweet scenting etc. at the moment and have my own queries, so I can't answer your other questions. Oh and where did you see that it advances it by one? Do you mean for the pokemon you just scented or the next one you scent/encounter, because if it's for the next it is +7.

@riddlinkid: I'm not sure, sorry :x If you've been performing the procedure correctly, that's really strange.

Hey, this is the first time I'm trying to use the RNG. I'm trying to find my delay and seconds. The first time it worked. But I tried three more times and it always says to check date and time. I am 100% sure that my date and time was correct. Why is that, can someone tell me please?

If it worked the first time but not after that, it probably means you got your hour/time wrong... double check

k, I'll try.

edit: Okay what now... I checked. Date was fine, but it was 15 secs late. So I re-synched it. And it still didn't work.

You need to hit A at continue at precisely when the clock reaches 14 seconds (or whichever your usual load time is) on your DS. In that case, your time resetting might be inconsistent. :x
