Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I have a quick question. Do you have to check the initial seed every time you try to do this?

Yea, if I'm going against Giratina at frame 1, do I have to check the seed to make sure I hit the right delay?
You don't have to, but I always do, whether it be by catching a poke or with coin flips.

If you're saved in front of Giratina and you assume you hit your seed then do all your flips and haven't hit your seed you've wasted a hell of a lot of time. Even catching Giratina will take longer than doing 10 coin flips.

It also allows you to make changes or adjustments and imagine if for some reason your delay changes from odd to even or vice versa and you have no idea this has happened then you will never hit your seed.

Can you say that again oddsok?
I save in front, do coin flips (?), and then just capture to check IV's. If the IV's aren't what I want, are you saying I wasted a lot of time?

Actually I recall mingot answered me this one so I'll say that, yes, so if you use codes or so you should turn them off and sub in a poke with magma armor

Hi, I'm new to RNGing for good IVs, and I'm having some trouble understanding the Target time part.

To the time I SR in the Calibration phase, do I have to know down to the exact second of when I SR?

I'm also confused about seconds and delay. I was reading that it goes 60 times per second or something like that, in seconds, is that the exact amount of seconds I have to wait until I SR?

Lastly, with all this I'm also confused about synching the DS clock and making time go ahead. I'm sorry, all this time and number stuff confuses me.

I understand breeding for shinies, thats about it. Any help would be appreciated.

This may sound bad, but me too! :)

No, but I'll tell you in the next answer

Assuming you understanding shiny breeding, when you put in the data in the the seed finder, you should get seconds and a delay, so like the OP says, find your seed a few times(and note the above) then hatch the egg and use your seed with DPPtBreeding and find the IV's closest to your baby's. Then you do that a few times, and put the most consistent data in the Time Finder, where it should be just SRing until you get SR it perfectly with the right date

Lastly, with all this I'm also confused about synching the DS clock and making time go ahead. I'm sorry, all this time and number stuff confuses me.

Synching would be using an external clock with the same seconds as the DS because then you can reset with out knowing what time your DS says, because the seconds with be the same

I can try
Sorry if that was confusing

Ok so...for example, I just tried, it gave me a 55 seconds, and a delay of 724.

What would that mean in conjunction to my resetting?

And yes I understand RNGing for shinies, I've bred 5 shinies already.

Um, I've seen this before
So your seconds are too high likely because you reset wrong or you aren't synched
So I will try to asplain(hee)
For example, you say you have a clock(I use my computer's clock), so you go to the DS time change part/screen and set whatever time you want
Then, when your clock hits about 59.5 seconds(before the new minute) press a to confirm your time. I say 59.5 and not 00 because it takes the DS some time to load and start the new seconds up, so you will be as synched as possible. As for the delay, meh, unless you want a high delay, you should try to keep hitting a as fast as you can as soon as you SR for the best chances to a consistent delay

I see, so its all about the clocks...I think thats it, my seconds are indeed off. How do I fix that?

?
You set the time on the DS as soon as the Ex-clock reaches a new minute

Ok I did that, and I figured out it takes about 15 seconds for me to SR.

THIS is the part that confuses me the most:

Synchronize Time - Take your target time and remove the seconds and then subtract one full minute. For example: 12:05:30 becomes 12:04:00.

Reset Time - Take your target time and subtract what you determined your seconds value was during calibration. For example: (assuming a seconds value of 15) 12:05:30 becomes 12:05:15.

2. Set the time of your DS to the synchronize time and hit A to save the changes when the external clock reaches a new minute. With this step we are synchronizing the seconds of the DS and external clock.

3. Load the game and then reset at your calculated reset time. This ensures that you soft reset will occur at the exact time that is necessary to "Continue" at your target time.

I'm not completely sure what's wrong

If you do have 15 seconds and for example, using mingot's OP example

SEED: 710F026A
DATE: 2009/04/24
TIME: 15:02:15
DELAY: 609
FRAME: 12
SPREAD: A/A/A/20/31/31

Then the time, 15:02:15 would become 15:01:00, which would be the time that you synch the clocks, and then after saving the time changes, you boot up the game, and reset, perform calibration, and keep doing that until you hit your whatever

So if the DS clock goes back a second, does that mean the external clock does too? I'm sorry if I'm just sounding like a total noob, maybe I'm just tired.

This is weird. My friend came over so I could show him how to hatch perfect Pokemon, he got his delay and his coin flips matched, but the Pokemon didn't. In fact, it wasn't in any of the adjacent frames. I thought it was a simple error and thought nothing of it.

However I just tried to find a spread for my Calm Dratini, and finding a 31/30/31/B/B/B (Where B was my flawless Ditto) I got my spread and coin flips third try. However this egg was also flawed, only having perfect attack and special defense, which none of the adjacent frames showed.

I've done this enough times to know when I'm doing something wrong, and I don't think I am. Has this happened to anyone else?

When checking the adjacent frames, what's the range you're looking for?
Even when taking the egg as soon as possible, it's possible to hit frame 12+.

Also, when verifying the coin flips, make sure you don't make any mistakes.

It's possible to have THTHTTHHTT and THTHTTHHT close to each other, so that could be a possibility aswell..

I also have a question.

I want to abuse on FR/LG aswell, and I know it's possible through VBA, so I'd like to learn how.

I can't find a thread about this, so I thought this would be the best place to ask, along with the SQSR thread.

I can help you. And there isn't a thread about FR/LG, Syberia found out how it works, posted the caught Pokémon in DMP and, I think people PM'd Syberia.
