How do i rng a shiny starter on hgss?

Well, the bascially accepted method is to find a spread you want with a frame that the starter already has, and then abuse your ID/SID to make the spread shiny.

I think the starter's frames are on the first page second post, and the link to the ID Finder programme for abusing your SID. You then just have to try and hit the seed and see if the starter is shiny or not to know if you hit it. There's no consistent way to advance the frames at that point, so going for a zero frame advancement is the best method.

Ok, so is this what I should do?

Save in front of the daycare man.
Use the time finder to find a time for a shiny egg.
Soft reset at the right time (14 seconds before the target time for me), and then try to hit the correct delay.
Pick up the egg and then verify my seed with elm (assuming frame 1)

I don't think so...

You should save in front of the Daycare Lady for the shiny egg PID generation, and you can verify via Elm Method if you hit the seed for that PID.
Under the shiny egg tab, you should copy the seed of the corresponding shiny egg PID and paste it in the Main Screen of RNG Reporter [in the Seed(Hex) box]
Then choose Breeding(HGSS) as the method, before you click generate.
The Elm responses will be displayed below (only if your version of RNG Reporter is at least 7.40)

And for the IVs, you should save in front of the Daycare Man as soon as he turns to the left (which means the egg is already generated), and you can verify your seed via Elm Method (this will also advance your frame by 1 for each call).

So remember, the Daycare Lady is for (Shiny) Egg PID Generation, while the Daycare Man is for IV Generation.

Doesn't Nintendo consider RNG abuse hacking? And is it even possible to check if a pokemon was created through the use of RNG manipulation?

Well, sometimes an RNG'ed Pokémon will have a weird date... But it's not hacking at all. You don't use any cheating devices; just things already in the game, like the coin flip and happiness checker app. Nintendo can't penalise you for changing the date on your DS...

How should they?
You use inbuilt game mechanics, the only thing you really do change is the % value of a spread to occur.
Think of Bozos TRUTH, which was not RNG abused.
You NEVER would be able to distinguish between this and a RNG abused Gyarados.
I mean you basically did the same and especially when it comes to breeding there is no way to proof at all.

Besides: It is easier to RNG a flawless poke than to make a legit hack that would pass hack checks.

About the changing date: If you are good with emloop and stuff you will have completely normal dates.

I don't have an action replay. Is transferring the IVs from a shiny Pokemon the only way to find my secret ID (I'm going to RNG a Palkia on friend's Pearl they just started over, and they don't have a shiny/didn't beat the e4).

I heard there was a button combination for finding it that you enter at the main menu.....but I don't know what it is/how to input it......

Ok so I set up the time, and my delay is 910 so I put that into emloop, I reset it when it gets to 0 and than wait for my delay to click A, my frame is on 5 for a shiny cyndaquil. What could i be doing wrong?

You can use the Pokéradar to chain a few shinies and thus find your SID.
This is before we beat the e4. If we beat the e4 and get the Poke Radar, then we need to catch/beat Palkia, thus losing one with good IVs (I have tried IVing legends without RNG, impossible).

if its your SID you want try the simple requests thread someone there can find it for you just give them any pokemon from that game.

I would just get an AR. RNGing is much easier when you can instantly check IVs, and rebattle codes are massively useful.

You should give us more information.. Like what delay are you trying to hit? What is your target time? Things like that so we can help you better

Ya. I need the secret ID.

If your referring to getting the IVs to PIn, I know how to do that. But will it work for non-shiny Pokemon?

If not...than I'll go ask.

So, you succefully got the right SID already, yes?

When you soft reset, the screen goes white for a bit; the delay isn't counted during this bit, though emloop still counts down. So you need to adjust emloop to take this into account. Normally you'd check the seed of the Pokémon and use that to adjust emloop, but you're too early in the game for that; so you'll have to go off other people's experiences and hope. I can tell you that to hit my delay of 639 I enter 950 into emloop; so, try adding 311 or so to your delay number. Another problem is you might be unable to tell if you're hitting even or odd delays at this stage. To change from one to the other, you have to scroll the screen down and then back up before pressing A at the continue screen.

nope you need a shiny to determine your SID using its IVs or a group of chained shinies which you can't get at this point so your best and quickest bet is to post in simple requests.

my target delay is 910 and my time is 17:56:00 so I set my ds clock and his space for emloop to start at 17:55, i get into my game and i wait till 17:56 and as soon as it hits i SR, then the second timer starts on emloop and i wait for that to hit 0 to click a. Im trying to get a shiny cyndaquil on frame 5, need anything else?

Well dude in the beggining is a pain on the ass to get.. because you dont have any good method to advance frames... I d say to you wait till later in the game to try that..
