Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

The results of what I got from th RNG reporter are a little weird, hopefully someone can help shed some light on the matter. I C-gear abused, setting the RNG Reporter to find me a 31-28-31-31-31-31 Amoonguss (one of the stationary ones standing on the way to Pokémon League). Once it was caught I confirmed that I had hit the right delay (2082) by checking IVs.

Yet my Amoonguss was 7-15-31-28-31-31-31 and the numbers in the IV row for the 2082 delay were: 7-15-31-28-31-31-31-31-20-25-30. It looks like the IVs all shifted 2 places, what happened? Having tried this with other IVs and Wild Pokémon I also get the same result (the IVs are shifted by 2 to the left). Any help would be much appreciated!

I did it quite easily on my HG and my brother's SS. The trick is to find a spread on frame 1/6/11 (depending on the starter you want) and saving at a point where the NPC doesn't move for a while; in D/P/Pt it's always 1 AFAIK. Then, use my Wondercard Seed Finder tool to find the seed. It works with method 1 Pokémon too; if you're accurate with second/delay, it can find your seed from a level 5. If you get multiple seeds, use X-Act's IVs to PID applet to check that the nature is valid (as it's designed for Wondercards, you'll often get seeds with natures impossible through method 1).

As you're very limited with the frame, you probably won't be able to get amazing IVs; you should be able to find a good nature and decent IVs, though. Getting a spread with a different frame is the part that's virtually impossible without an emulator (if it's still quite low, you might be able to do it with NPC movements, but prepare for extreme frustration).

Thx a lot Wichu I'm trying to work on this

So I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I'm trying to RNG Mesprit, I've hit my seed 3 times (verified each time), did my journal flips and yet never get the resultant shiny.

The frame I'm trying to hit is Method 1 frame 25. Mesprit is generated on frame 5, according to the guide, so I'm doing 10 journal flips -- 10 x 2 = 20 + 5 = 25. I'm not walking anywhere, I've saved directly in front of Mesprit, I don't have a synchronizer although I doubt it would affect Method 1 even if I did. I am not actually catching Mesprit after this, just checking my 'dex to see if I have a seen hit for a shiny Mesprit which I understand should be there if I hit the frame right. I do not have any other roamer present. I've double checked my TID/SID combo that yielded the search and it is correct. In the journal I DO have to flip several pages back to get to a page with a 'Defeated' / 'Captured' listing, but none of the pages in between have anything that should advance the frame on them AFAIK.

What could I be overlooking here?

Have you tried catching Mesprit and seeing what IV's it has, then comparing that to seed you have?

I hate dealing with roamers any more than I have to, but I suppose that yeah, that's a good idea. I'll give it a shot.

As if you check the IV's, it could be 1 off of your target, than you just run 128 steps in a non-wild Poke spaces, and abuse from there.
Tell me what you get.

So it is shiny. It just does not show that when you talk to it, nor in the Pokedex. I'll be damned. It's good to know, at least.

Edit for clarity: I chased him down to catch him and check his IVs, and he was actually shiny. It just never shows it until you meet 'em. Go figure.

I'm having trouble finding my initial seed again T-T
I already have the seed I want, but I can't seem to hit it, so I've been looking at the adjacents I might be getting to calibrate.
Or at least I would, except that every freaking time I try to get the initial seed from the stats to seed finder I get the 'check your date and time' message. And it's not the date or time -.-'

Seed: c20b0af4
Using an Adamant syncher
Frame 28 for the encounter slot of 2
Yes, delays are odd.
Using emloop
Set the time, then turn off/on and soft reset at the first timer, and enter th game at the second. Wanderers have been stopped beforehand. Without moving, I open up the menu and use sweet scent with my shaymin. And I never ever ever get an initial from te seed finder. Only that same error. Why??? =(

Why would you not just check your seed via the coin flip app? I'm assuming your using DPPt as on frame 28 of Method J there is a pentflawless spread, where as K its some useless spread.

I'm also wondering if you used the Seed to Time to generate your date/time to enter the game. Anyways if you set the Delay range to +/- 99 in the seed to time, and then input your ten coin flips it will tell you what seed you hit.

The hard part is finding a place with no NPC's to mess up your frame.

Overall you need to put more info out as to what you're trying to get, where, etc.

Are capture projects in HGSS similar at all to those in BW? I've only done breeding projects in SS, so I have experience in G4, just not with CPs. I know you need to hit a delay, which I can do, but are there any other differences?

^ No where near as easy as BW is, in terms of hitting your delay isn't just by a second. But compared to Breeding in 4th Gen I think there are a few differences but as you can hit a delay thats good. Here are some of the things I tend to worry about with CP:

-Unlike BP in Gen 4 you can't get a whole lot of Hex Flawless spreads(6 total with Modest and Timid being the notables)
-If you want a good spread on a shiny, you usually have to abuse your ID/SID, for that spread.
-NPC's are in a lot of the areas that CP's can be done and have to be accounted for because unlike BW, they advance your Frame for IV's and can throw everything off.

I think that's it off the top of my head, not too tough to do as long as you know how the NPC's play with your frame.

Ok, thanks. I'm abusing my ID/SID right now, and I have a quick question.

When the second timer reaches zero, where should I press A?

Also, I have a question about IVs and PIDs. In PokeRNG, with the ID I abused for I found a seed that's shiny. The pokemon I want is Method K, but there's only 1 frame listed. Does that mean I only have to hit one target frame? Also, is this target frame for IVs or PID?

Your ID/SID is determined from when you shrink to that black screen before entering the game world. During that black screen is when your ID/SID is generated.
1 Frame listing means that is the only frame with that spread. Sometimes other seeds will have multiples of the same spread.
There is only 1 for 4th gen. IV's + PID mixed. There is no separate seeding.

Sir anyone here knows how to rng the 2 legendary dogs in soul silver i want them to be shiny kindly help me thanks to those who will help thank you so much....

Two questions, do you have access to an AR? Have they been released already?

Ok, thanks, WZ :D

I have one more thing... I'm so close to getting my ID/SID. I need to hit delay 5999 and I hit 5998. But, I find that strange, because when I used to do G4 BPs, I got odd delays. So, I tried inserting a Pokemon GBA game into the DS Lite... but I hit 5998 again. So Idk what's going on. When I was on the DS menu, the option for playing the GBA game was available, so Idk why I still got an even delay. Maybe I should try my Pokemon Emerald?

^ is it DPPt or Hg/SS, if its DPPt, my delay wouldn't always switch when I put the GBA game in(I would insert it sometime three times before it switched over). You could always try scrolling through the game menu if the GBA game doesn't work.

Have you tried switching the year of the seed you're aiming for by 1? For example 2011 might be giving you 5988, so switch it to 2010 and you're seed will switch from 5999 to 5998. Only other way if that GBA doesn't work, even though it should. Do you have a save game on your 3rd gen game?

I'll check if I have a save file on there. I'm pretty sure I do. If I don't have a save file on there, then I'll try making one and hitting my seed again. If I still get even, I'll try my Emerald. If I still get even, I'll change the year.

Thanks again! :D

In reality, all you need to do is save in the truck. It was weird and needed a save file on there to be fully registered? It was weird, but it seemed to work. I believe. Have you tried without a game pack in?

I got my ID/SID! Thanks so much :D But here's exactly what I did, just now:

I checked to see if my FR has a save file. It did. So, I tried it again. I hit 5998 again. Then, I went to get my Emerald. Before I tried my Emerald, I wanted to make sure that I hit an even delay without a GBA pack inserted, so I tried to hit my seed without a GBA game in the slot. I got 5998 again. Then, I tried it with Emerald, got another even delay. Then, I checked if it had a save file, which it did. So, I just gave up and changed the year to 2012 (2010 makes the delay 6000). I hit my seed on my first try, so I'm glad it's over with. I'm still curious as to why my GBA games aren't working :( I guess I'll ask Bond or Kaphotics about it.

Thanks again :]

Edit: Also, one more thing. I pasted my shiny PID seed that I abused for in RNG Reporter, and changed it to Method K. Then I generated. I'm wondering, what does the Occidentary column mean?

Congratulations!
Yeah, 2010 or 2012 would have worked. Wasn't sure if you cared what year it had.

I don't know what is going on with the game packs. I always just used the same even delay I always got except for ID/SID abusing. I seemed to hit odds all the time, maybe it changes depending on the game for ID/SID and stays that way, don't really know.

Occidentary means, when you finish the battle that's the frame you're going to be on. So if says frame 138, you are on frame 138 and can advance from there. It pretty much does that so you can't abuse the same spread more than once with hitting the seed once. You can consider it one giant frame advancement, per say.

Thanks :]

I figured I'd use 2012 since I hit 5998 a bunch of times.

I'll test it when I try to use my seed for the first time. :]

Oh, I see! Thanks.
