First off i want to start that i am a huge celtics fan, but i have always kept the celtics, through extreme ups and downs, as well as the other teams in a fair perspective.

I truly believe this about the current celtics

they are one weakness away from being an all time great team. The only real weakness of this celtics team is that they have a lot of careless turnovers.

Every other part of their game is at an elite level. They are a great defensive team, everybody knows that. They force the other team into horrible Field Goal percentages, they are a great rebounding team etc. That stuff everybody knows. However last year their offense was slightly above average at best, but this year they have a top tier offense. They are shooting 48%, and thats before tonight when they shot 66% against the knicks. With rondo running the show more and more each game, the offense has become extremely efficient at scoring. The celtics have some of the best chemistry i've seen in the NBA in recent memory.

Their bench is far from elite, but i believe it is a work in progress and ainge will sign 1-2 players (hopefully mutumbo or joe smith) before the playoffs start. The starters will stretch the lead, the bench needs to not lose points to be truly effecitve for this team.

To be honest i dont(as well as the celtics) care about all the best starting records the celtics are breaking, they only have 2 goals. First is to get homecourt for the playoffs, and then to win another NBA championship. As most of you may have heard, you need to be a dynasty to be celtic team to be remembered.

Unfortunately i dont see this problem being fixed anytime soon, as it lingered all last season, and continues this early season as well. It just kinda annoys me how this could potentially be one of the greatest teams of all time, but they make careless mistakes causing them to not be up there. If/Until they ever fix this they will just be one of the best teams of this couple years, nothing more. At the moment the nba title to me is a toss up between cleveland and boston, and then possibly LA just cause they have a good shot of making the finals. Also want to say that its an odd year and never forget to mention san antonio. At the great level im saying the celts are at, the cavs are right there with them, i have complete respect for them.

One last thing, NO THEY WONT WIN 70!!!! espn is so annoying about this, they even made a page on the nba portion of their website with a game by game chart comparing boston to the bulls. I even think they're gunna lose their next game vs philly as it is the classic trap. I as a celtic fan who believes they are the best team in the NBA is saying them winning 70 is complete bullshit, and should be thought as such.

I can't wait for the Lakers vs Boston game and San Antonio vs Phoenix games. My two favorite teams playing against two teams I like to see play.

It'll also be interesting to see if anything changed between L.A and Boston since last year. To me, the only thing that's really changed about the Lakers is Bynum is back, and Farmar is slightly more active. Their defense isn't all that better than last year. They have all the ingredients for good defense too.

In response to Hey Oh:
What do you think is causing the Celtic's offensive improvement? Obviously some of it is Rondo, and I thought Jesus completely getting over his double ankle injuries and getting his stroke back would help balance out the loss of Posey. However, checking the stats, he's shooting roughly the same 3 point percentage, albeit he is shooting a better fg% overall.
I really love the Celtics' chemistry, in my opinion it's their greatest weapon, how many teams how you seen come back from winning a championship and approaching the start of the season will arguably at least the same level of intensity?

In response to Kid Icarus:
Yeah I can't wait for this thursday's games too! I think getting Ariza back from injury is another big thing for the Lakers, as last year I was watching Paul Pierce being guarded by Vladimir "Space Cadet" Radmanovich -__-.

I found this Amare video pretty funny heh:

that look of self-absorbed bliss...

the biggest reasons for the celtics' boosted offense are:
-Ray getting healthy
-The celts using ray more (setting way more screens off the ball)
-Rondo really taking the next step offensively
-Tony allen healthier off the bench
-Chemistry growing, players becoming more comfortable to pass to each other

thats all i can think of at the moment

Way bigger win for LA then a loss for boston

im not gunna bother with excuses why they lost like most celt fans, LA won.

Lets just see what happens in the playoffs

Raja Mason in the clutch for sure!

Haha, the refs kind of blew some calls in the Celtics-Lakers game, but it wasn't too dismal for the Celtics to not overcome. Boston easily could have played better than they did today. If anything, if Bynum could actually play superior to Perkins, then the score would have been lopsided. Kobe on the other hand was ON FIRE with his shot. Almost every single tough shot he made went through. Though, as the commentators said, Phil Jackson wanted this win more than Doc Rivers anyway, so it was expected that the Lakers would come out strong from the get-go.

At least the streak is cut :)

just...can't...beat...the...goddamn...spurs :(
Damn I couldn't get to watch the LA vs Boston game, very interesting result for LA. Can't wait for the rematch in Boston, hopefully I can get to watch that zz.
Also, the hornets got crushed by the magic, what's up with the hornets?
Maybe the Magic are that genuine a title contender..

It's ROGER mason not RAJA

Anyways my hornets got blown out by the magic

lol I was just poking fun. I do know that. Considering my name is Roger, I try to use as much variations of my name to the other Rogers of the world as much as possible.

I get called Raja a lot :D

I believe tonight may have been a turning point in the Warriors season. Haven't seen Sjax put that much effort into playing both sides of the ball that well in a while.

41 points on 14/25 FG, 8/8 FT, 13 assists from Harris to destroy the Mavericks...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It was such a horrible trade. Kidd got embarrased by Paul in the playoffs so infact it solved nothing. Cuban needs to stop being an impatient douche and maybe the Mavericks can contend.

Hornets ftw!

No excuse to lose to a Warriors team that didnt have Crawford, let alone a really weird and discombobulated team with a demented coach who wants to oust players out of town instead of bringing team chemstry in. Thanks for the unnecessary lets-get-to-72+-wins-this-season hype, Boston.

thats so true. Im probably the biggest celt fan here, and i thought they had no chance of breaking the 70 win mark from the get go. Oh and if you look at the box score the stat that stands out the most is the celtic turnovers i was talking about earlier. We had 23 that game. Against LA we only had 17, which is just above average on this team. Those careless turnovers you saw the celtics make on christmas day, were normal for this team unfortunately.

i have never seen refereeing so bad then when portland had 6 PLAYERS ON THE COURT and still decide to score their basket?

Then the celts have the ball with 20 sec left down 3, think that point woulda helped?
