New and "creative" moveset/EV spread thread "Mark 2"

@mailman

Platinum gave Azelf the punches to add to it's physical movepool, so it is vastly greater now. Unfortunately, most will run Zen Headbutt, Punch, Trick, Explosion. Maybe U-Turn instead of trick...

Here's something Vastly disgusting I've been testing.

Swampert @ Cutsap Berry
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP - 128 Def - 128 SP Def

Counter
Mirror Coat
Endure
Endeavor

Step 1: Counter/Mirror Coat your opponent into Blowup-ville.
Step 2: Stare at your opponent's Revenge Killer for a second or two.
Step 3: Endure - Survive thier attack with 1HP
Step 4: Use Endeavor. The Cutsap Berry will insure you First strike with you measly 1HP Left. Your opponent's fresh, new Poke is now at 1HP.
Step 5: If you have a Sandstorm going, Unless said revenge killer is a Ground, rock or steel type, it will die.

Congratulations, you just took down 2 of your opponent's Pokes!

An alternative would be to switch the Swampert out and save the Endure/Endeavor for later.

Well I've been using Countercoat Swampert for months now so i'll present it. Nice touch on the Cutsap berry though, never thought of that.

Swamper@leftovers
Nature:Impish/Calm/Careful/Bold
Ability:Torrent
EVs:252 HP/176 Sp.Def/80 Def

~Counter
~Mirror Coat
~Roar/Protect
~Waterfall/Surf/Protect

I'm always changing the EV's based on my team. It can survive alot including a fair share of grass moves at 100% damage. With Light Screen it can survive max Special Attack Timid Celebi LEaf Storm. Or it has in the past and Grass Knots of many pokes without the screen. Just barely mind you. And its survived a 5 times Calm Minded Suicune Surf.
It's defenses let it phase and after a couple roar's your opponents give up switching and start to attack no matter what, then you Counter/Mirror Coat. Protect give Leftovers a chance. And after a counter your opponents likely to send in a Special type.
I like to give mine an attacking move, to utilise Torrent and so, well, so I have an attacking move.

Taunt doesn't affect Counter or Mirror Coat eather. The Bolded natures are the one I tend to use.

It's a shame Curse/Mirror Coat is illegal with 'Pert because it would make for an interesting set...boost your defence and force the opponent to use special attacks which are promptly bounced back.

Anyway, this is something I'm theorymonning for the Battle Tower but I guess it might fit into a general Rain Dance team too.

Zapdos @ Leftovers/Damp Rock/Life Orb
Modest
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Air Cutter / Signal Beam

ThunderDancing Zapdos...the addition of Air Cutter/Signal Beam gives Zapdos something to use against Grass Pokemon that would otherwise wall him.

EDIT: My mistake

I came up with this set for Gliscor, any help with EVs/Nature would be appreciated:

Gliscor @ Leftovers
Screech
U-Turn
Earthquake
Roost/Stealth Rock

The main idea is to switch on heracross or something else that's walled by Gliscor, screech while they switch, then U-Turn, to physical sweeper or counter to their switch in. Earthquake for STAB and coverage, Roost if you want survivablity, stealth rock if you don't have any SR on your team yet, since this set works briliantly with SR

Uber Lead Smeargle / Anti Deoxys

dpmfa235.png

Smeargle @ Custap Berry
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Hasty/Naive Nature
0 IVs in HP, Defence and Special Defense
- Fake Out
- Extremespeed
- Endure
- Endeavor

Lol this may sound a completely joke, but I promise, that this can be pretty effective. First of all it destroys SR Deoxys leads and Focus Sash users. After you have killed the Deoxys you can criple another pokemon with Endure + Endeavor combo. Okay you are walled by Giratina, but use something else to destroy it.

It is gimmick, but fun to use. And it help SR weak pokes, like Rayquaza and Lugia. Give it a try.
Err... isn't this exactly like the endeavor set on the analysis except your substituting Spore for Fake Out? Does Fake Out plus ES really kill Deoxys-A, if it does then man it's weak...

Off the top of my head. Meh.

dpffb473.png

Mamoswine @ Expert Belt
Careful/Adamant
129 HP, 129 Atk, 252 SpDef
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Shard
~ Curse
~ Light Screen

I exclusively used Curse Mamoswine ever since I started battling on shoddy, and it was a great success in Garchomp's time, but now Heatran's omnipresence has somewhat crippled the effectiveness of that set.

So uuuuh the idea is, bring Mamo in on T-Waves or something it can threaten with Ice Shard (like Dragons, or Shaymin-S after it 2HKO'd your Skarmory), and set up your screen. Adamant gives some extra power, but Careful is actually preferred. The EVs + Light Screen will turn modest 252 Scarftran Fire Blast into a 2HKO; with Careful nature, you'll (barely) survive a specs'd Fire Blast as well while 'swine will always OHKO back. Celebi Grass Knot becomes a 3HKO, Specsmence Draco Meteor fails miserably (42.24% - 49.62%) while you 2HKO it (very high chance of OHKO if your attack stage is 0. With -1 attack, high chance of OHKO if you have Stealth Rocks up).

This set is obviously helpless against Scizor, 'zong and Skarmory.

Of course an other team member could also set up the screen for you, but you really can't switch Mamo into many things, so...yeah.

Deoxys-A used Suicide Lead!

[SET]
name: Suicide Lead
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Thunder / Grass Knot
item: Focus Sash
nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

A strange but effective lead. The idea is to use Taunt the first turn to cripple set-up leads and then follow with Stealth Rock. Unlike most suicide leads, however, Deoxys-A can still be offensive and punish some of the Pokemon that switch-in or are already leading their teams. Kyogre is 2HKO'd by Grass Knot as well as smashing Groudon to little bits. Thunder works alongside opposing Kyogre leads, however, Grass Knot does the same damage and hits Kyogre for the same amount of damage without resorting to reliance of the rain. Ice Beam can 2HKO most Lati@s and also can stop Rayquaza switching in to attempt the Extremespeed.

Hindenburg

This is a fun moveset I devised for one of my favorite Pokemon. I'm no expert on the Smogon competitive environment, though, so it may or may not be useful to you guys.

Pokemon Name: Drifblim
Moveset Name: Hindenburg
Move 1: Fly
Move 2: Shadow Ball
Move 3: Will-O-Wisp
Move 4: Destiny Bond/Explosion/Hypnosis
Item: Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
Nature(s): Neutral or SpAtk increasing
EVs: Emphasize Def, SpDef

Fly down into your foes like the doomed blimp of legend, which will eat up the Power Herb, both eliminating the charge-up turn and triggering Unburden. You may then proceed to burn people/attack the enemy. When you're done, take someone crashing down along with you with Destiny Bond or Explosion.
Optionally, use Hypnosis in the fourth slot for double status and a really fast sleep move with Unburden. Fly can be used again to accumulate additional burn damage if you don't fear someone switching in and setting up on you, or if it's their last Pokemon.
You could also switch slot four for an additional attack move such as Hidden Power, Thunderbolt, or Sucker Punch if attempting to sweep, in which case you should run a SpAtk-increasing nature to buff his average attacking stats.
EV's and Nature can go many ways. I personally prefer to add bulkiness, but increasing speed, spatk, and/or attack are viable as well.

I really like the idea of this set. Might test it out some time :)

Wow, I really like that Drifblim set, or at least the concept. A little tweaking and it could become a standard 'blim, could see it being a good sweeper in UU.

I would put the emphasis on the defenses because of his stat distribution, and go for an explosion rather than destiny bond, as the latter is less reliable. Will-O-Wisp Fly is a good combination, at least in theory, but this set would be just about completely walled by Heatran. Take out Heatran though and this guy could put a big hurting on the bulky sweepers.

Nice, Cursing Mamoswine is so great...

Unburden is one a great trait, but don't you think Air Cutter is better than Fly? Why split EVs?

@ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP/166 SAtk/92 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Roost
- Shadow Ball
- Air Slash
- Hypnosis
Stalling Noctowl. It's Ghost immunity and Insomnia trait makes it a great counter for Ghosts-even a Specs Modest Gengar, as well as any other Gengar variation without Leftovers, cannot switch into Air Slash as Noctowl will survive one Thunderbolt and then take down Gengar Down with a single Shadow Ball. Apart of beeing a decent Ghost counter, Noctowl can also counter status Gallade-Noctowl's lower speed will prevent Air Slash from Activating Steadfast.

Mamoswine @ Choice Scarf
Jolly - Snow Cloak
252 Attack - 252 Speed - 4 Hit Points
Ice Shard
Earthquake
SuperPower
Stone Edge

A new set I'm trying out with Mamo, hitting 426 Speed with Scarf it allows him to outspeed many of the things that would previously just come in and revenge kill him while he can do the same back now (Notable Lucario, Heatran and Infernape). Although he's got Speed now, Ice Shard still over Ice Fang so that he can outspeed other Scarf'd users (like Gengar) and still nail them along with DD's (like Salamence) to ensure you still get the revenge kill. Earthquake is his most powerful STAB and is a must while Stone Edge and SuperPower provide the best possible coverage for him.

Even though you can outspeed Lucario with Choice Scarf Lucario can still Bullet Punch you which probably won't kill Mamo but it was worth a mention.

Ya I know, it's just the surprise factor and such for even the other pokemon that normally he wouldn't be able to do anything to though.

Oh My GOD! You sir have just won the "Most Creative Pokemon of the Year Award"! I absolutely love this set!!! However, I would probably run Fly-Destiny Bond-Sub-Baton Pass. More supportive than offensive.

FYI Unburden is not passed to the next Pokemon. If you are going for Sub passing there are better options.

I am aware that Unburden does not pass and I see nothing wrong with passing subs from a Pokemon with 150Base Hp and who would otherwise be used for nothing but a suicide.

I love the name and concept of the Hindenburg set, I'm just not sure what would be the most efficient move/stat distribution.

I prefer WoW and Fly, and to answer your question, Fly is used to use up power herb, and can then be used in conjunction with WoW for stall without using another moveslot.

Someone needs to playtest this guy.

Ive got two pokemon ideas here.

Flamethrower
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Focus Punch
