np: OU Suspect Testing Round 4 - Blaze of Glory

I'm super excited to see what the results of the Abilities vote is. But, I thought of something worrisome. Perhaps this has been discussed, but I haven't searched.

If Sand Stream gets the boot (unlikely, but possible), that would be a soft ban in OU on Tyranitar and Hippowdon. Their usage would naturally plummet, as they would be unusable, and the next time tiering is re-done (end of July, I believe), the two of them would fall down to UU, where Sand Stream isn't banned. That occurrence is incredibly, incredibly unlikely, but not impossible, and it would be horrific if it did happen.

Also, this occurred to me because the same thing is going to happen to Vulpix next time tiers are re-done, just with Vulpix falling into RU, where Drought isn't banned

If something is banned from one tier, it's banned from all lower tiers as well.

we'd probably be best off if there was an ou tier where all weathers are allowed and an ou tier where no weathers are allowed. both metagames running simultaneously. they would have different pokemon banlists, and would probably be very different metagames. switching between as you please would be fun, so long as there was a solid number of battlers in both at all times.

The subject has been discussed. The mods have a general fear that this would divide the community which I believe to be true. Rising Dusk himself stated that he wouldn't do it unless a large enough amount of the community wanted it.

point taken. but isnt the metagame already divided amongst people who primarily play uu, people who primarily play ou, and people who primarily play ubers?

either weather or non weather would be more popular... and then people would then gravitate towards the more popular one because it would feel more official.

but... i feel like even people who actually preferred one over the other... would spend plenty of time in the other one for varieties sake.

and if one metagame is attracting many more battlers.... then maybe it really is better. if the metagame that emerges as more popular really is better then we'd have that much more fun, and then any divisions in the community matter less.

Then we would need entirely different tiers for each. I'd like to see it tried, but I don't see that happening, even if auto weather is banned.

actually, yea. now that i've read that whole thread... this might be a bad idea. it would be way too much work for the staff. 4 tiers is a lot (including NU), 8 would be insane. and it could be too divisive for the community. it could be fun, but it would definitely be a ton of work and could turn into a mess. not worth the work and risk.

Reachzero told everyone on the server about the weather vote...all the weathers stay.

I'm unwilling to belive that Reach would tell anyone outside of the higher-ups of the PR staff the outcome of the vote before it is revealed.

Especially as you don't have any proof that he's said that.

I'm unwilling to belive that with the current metagame state, and most of the voters nominateing Drizzle/All weather, that Drizzle hasn't got at least 50% of the vote.

^ This.

It's past 11.59pm EDT now, does that mean the results of weather will be shown later on today? or after they do the votes for the Pokemon round too?

That post might be telling the truth, like with how the post telling us that nothing aside from Blaziken was banned in round 3 was completely accurate.

It's not forbidden for him to do that. And he's done it before. Both conditional on the vote being already decided. So, I have little problem believing that the weathers stay.

YEAH!

No, they come before the pokemon votes.

They have to, Excadrill and Manaphy are conditional votes.

If all the weathers have stayed, I'm staying out of OU again. Garchomp's fate is probobly sealed too.

If all weather stays then...I'm utterly lost for words...

I mean, yes I expected Drought and Sandstream to stay, but Drizzle!?!?

....

EDIT: @Raikaria - Yea I will probably start playing UU or go back to BOS where they have a weatherless tier (it's just ashamed they don't speak English.)

I'll accompany you down to UU then, since as long as Drizzle stays my silly themed teams won't stand a chance.

It's true, the votes for all three abilities have been settled, and they're all staying (I'm personally quite unhappy about that, but I guess this is the metagame the voters want....). I guess I might as well close that thread, though I would have liked for the remaining six voters to have voted.

Nooooo. Ugh. On the bright side, at least UU's population might see a small rise with more people leaving the boring state of OU. Back to beta servers Clear Skies I guess.

I, for one, I'm happy that the weathers stay. I think they create an interesting dynamic in our metagame, and it would be a shame to see them go.

Oh fuck no. Drizzle stays??? How the hell did this happen? I thought that drizzle already had a majority vote?

This is fucked up. Now we have to waste another round bitching and foot dragging around drizzle. Everybody was nominating it!! Aldarons Proposal had expired to most people and...

No manaphy either... I always had faith in the voters, but this time they've screwed up.

Ugh. I'm switching to UU. Half my team is already legal there...

yes weather stays!!!so the people that don't want drizzle have one more month to either learn how to deal with it or find a better solution that aldaron's proposal...or if either of the options don't suit them they can just nominate it again!

Hopefully we'll stop voting on the same things again and again, that's just silly, especially when there are no important shifts between a suspect test and another. I'm glad that weather stays.
