Wow, Dragonite is so annoying. It can run so many different sets you can only try and guess what it's running. Bulky DD needs to be stopped very early, otherwise it becomes a massive pain when it sets up. There have been so many times where I'm scared as fuck about a bulky Dragonite setting up that I send in my counter, only to be nuked by CB Outrage or Draco Meteor or something stupid like that.

Damn Dragonite.

This is why i think Mix Nite is really underrated, People often expect Bulky DD and switch in their Ferrothorns/Skarmorys or faster revenge Killers that can be crushed by Fireblast/Draco Meteor. Dragons are imo much better wallbreakers than they are sweepers in the current Metagame.

I agree, D-Nite, Haxorus, and Salamence can just bust holes in just about every wall in the tier. Setting up DD's is hard to cash in on with the fast scarfers and Excadrill/Thundurus running around but needless to say when you're in on something slower (walls) they either over-predict and die or get forced out.

And btw, when theorymonning Thundurus counters can we please stop assuming the darn thing's at +2 and hitting with Focus Blast? Not all of them carry Nasty Plot but if we're going that then Mamoswine's the best counter since apparently we're assuming it sets up on the first turn.

And Hail will never be useless, Kyurem is a monster and there has to be something that fits in Hail to take out Sp Def Jirachi.

Bluemon, it outspeeds thundurus. And thundie isn't taking a t-bolt easy either.

i thought u were gunna switch in.... oh well. im pretty sure thundurus can live a neutral thunderbolt..

EDIT: the common mamoswine of hail teams Murder sp.defensive jirachi.

My only problem with thundurus is that the damn thing can take a STAB shadow ball from my chandelures 426 sp att at full health and live. I haven't checked his stats (besides knowing trolly speed and high attacking stats), what the hell is his bulk?

I honestly don't see the point of Mamoswine in Hail. it's an unnecessary ice type. It works just as well in hail as it does without.

Yeah, Mamoswine doesn't really benefit hail too much. It's really useful in Drag + Mag teams though, as it can kill pokemon such as Jirachi, while also destroying Gliscor and other dragons. The one thing Mamoswine does do for hail: it can get rid of the annoyance known as Specially defensive Jirachi. Also, with the likes of Rotom-W (which it can dent with Stone Edge) and Skarmory out of the way, Mamoswine can do some pretty nice damage to the opposition.

Other, more useful things have Stealth Rock...and don't provide even more crippling resistances and redundant typing...

We can hope in Gray. That actually seems like a relatively good idea, too. Makes just as much sense as Sand Rush or whatever Excadrill's ability is called.

Specially Defensive Jirachi and Skarmory can get taken out by other Hail Pokemon. Like Magnezone, or something. We don't need to throw in a Mamoswine cause it's an Ice-type. It kind of sucks. Likewise, if Jirachi hits Mamoswine with a Body Slam on the switch, it can paralyze it, leaving it 2HKOed by Iron Head. Iron Head/Fire Punch piss it off too. It can't switch into Jirachi at all.

CB dragonite is pretty good, ohkos a lot of stuff like Rotom-w and 2hkos even resistors like scizor with outrage, in fact fire punch is a 2hko on skarmoury. With the appropriate move he 2hkos the metagame and also gets nice priority in the form of extremespeed and can take almost any hit with multiscale.

Strong? I think so

I've thought that Ice types in hail should get buffed physical defense like rocks in sand's spec def boost. It makes sense regarding their weaknesses.

To be completely honest, Hail needs in some way to get a buff. As it currently stands, if you use more than two Ice-type Pokemon in a Hail team, it's probably bad. One of those Ice-types is Abomasnow.

I rarely find time to use nasty plot on Thundurus, especially with all the residual damage and lack of places to set up. Something like leftovers, sub + 3 attacks is probably more effective as you can still hit the switch in twice most of the time but you can also stop scarfers and Excadrill. Also invest enough hp to tank Jirachi body slams.

Dragmag is really really good, though I'm tired of seeing that sharpedo team everywhere. Haxorus is actually pretty physically bulky, DD is excellent. balloon lucario can't OHKO with 2+ extremespeed and it can also tank a CB bullet punch from Scizor. Gliscor also does jack with EQ so you can just 2hko it.

My favorite dragon buff this gen is on outrage. I love it when annoying douchebags keep using protect thinking they can stall out haxorus of his outrage (like gliscor) and it just gets reset.

oh.. hahah my bad.
i think any one of these should be considered as the buffs:

1) increases ice type defenses 50 percent
2) in hail, fire, steel, rock, and fighting attacks to half (doesnt make any sense but watever)
3) add a snow rush pokemon
4) make ice attacks 50 Percent stronger.

Hail should increase Ice-type Pokemon's Defense stat by 50% and should have a Snow Rush Pokemon. That would balance it out, imo. The other two (Ice-type moves getting stronger and halving super effective attacks) don't make sense.

Back on topic, as I've never tried it in OU. How does Hail stand up to Sand/Drought/Drizzle? I feel like it HAS to run Heatran in OU to stand any chance against Drought. It probably would work decently well, maybe?

Who's been successful with Hail? What'd you actually use?

i use tentacruel... this stops most chlorophyll users with massive special bulk. u make hail sound like it SUCKS. its not that bad, really.
