Other Metas Mashup Megathread

Welcome to the OM Mashup Megathread! This thread plays host to a variety of metagames that combine two other metagames. There are three primary types of mash-ups on this thread. First, the standard mashups / variations of Other Metagames, which can be found here. Second, doubles versions of standard Other Metagames, which can be found here. Finally, Little Cup versions of Other Metagames, found here.

Join our Private Room to discuss OM mashups and participate in tours.
Join our Discord for similar discussion on OM mashups! Thanks to Ransei for hosting!

FAQs

Q: How does tiering work for OM Mashups?
A: If the councils of the derivative metas wish to take an active role in tiering that will be at their discretion. If not then any decisions regarding bans / unbans / suspects will be made by me, or by whatever council is set up for a particular meta. If you wish to discuss tiering for the specific tiers feel free to do so in this thread!

Q: Will other mashups be added to the list?
A: It's possible. However any changes to the list are subject to approval by the OM submissions team, so don't expect it to happen overnight. A solid concept and high levels of interest may increase the likelihood of a metagame being accepted as a mashup.

Q: So... what exactly should I do in this thread?
A: What you would do in any other meta's thread; post sets, talk about threats and how to check them, post teams, talk about general impressions, etc. However, here you should take care to quote the posts you are responding to and reference specifically which meta you are talking about to avoid confusion.

Anything that can be hacked in-game and is usable in local battles is allowed, with no bans or clauses.
This is a mashup of Balanced Hackmons and Anything Goes.

FAQ:
Q: Where is this playable?
A: Playable on dragonheaven.psim.us or via tours. You can also play it through custom battle provided you avoid illegalities, detailed below.
/tour new Anything Goes, elimination, 32,1
/tour autostart 7
/tour autodq 3.5
/tour rules -Nonexistent, !Obtainable
/tour name [Gen 7] Pure Hackmons

Q: Why is there Endless battle clause?
A: Endless battle clause exists in every Showdown metagame to prevent battles taking too long and lagging the server.
sta
Q: Can I use Crystal Free Z moves (CFZs) in my movesets?
A: Yes! But keep in mind that CFZs with variable base power (all of the one's associated with a type e.g. Bloom Doom) will have a base power of 1. Moves like Clangorous Soulblaze and Genesis Supernova have their full base power however.

Q: What is the difference between Custom Game and Pure Hackmons?
A: Custom Game is based on what the Pokemon Showdown teambuilder is capable of, while Pure Hackmons is based around what is hackable in game and usable in local battles. Specifically, in Pure Hackmons you are limited to a maximum level of 100, a maximum of 4 moves, a maximum of 6 Pokemon, and Showdown specific moves and abilities such as Paleo Wave and Rebound are unusable, while in Custom Game there is a max level of 9999, the maximum number of moves is 24, the maximum number of Pokemon is 24, and Showdown specific moves and abilities are usable.

Q: So is this Classic Hackmons?
A: Almost! In the words of The Immortal "[Classic Hackmons] was a variation of Pure Hackmons created in gen 5. Pure Hackmons has Team Preview." Classic Hackmons will not be supported here.

FAQ:

Q: Why is Arceus banned? Is it every Arceus or just the Normal one?
A: Arceus is banned because under STABmons mechanics it gets every unrestricted move. Every forme of Arceus is banned.

Q: What about other forme changes? Do they get new moves?
A: It depends on the change. Only outside of battle forme-changes count for STABmons move learning. The only Pokemon legal in STABmons Ubers not legal in regular STABmons to learn moves other than those of their base typing are Necrozma (Steel, Ghost, Psychic) and Silvally (all). FAQ:
Q: Where can I play this?
A: Rom.psim.us or on the main server by tour.

Q: If my Pokemon has Dragon Ascent will it act like a mega stone? If I have both Dragon Ascent and a mega stone which takes precedence?

Q: What's the difference between a restricted move and a banned move?
A: A restricted move is limited to Pokemon that can naturally learn it. A banned move is unusable by any Pokemon. FAQ:
Q: Where can I play this?
A: Playable on Rom.psim.us or by tour on the main server.

Q: Can I use Pokemon from the banlist without Mega stones?
A: Yes! For now the entirety of LC Ubers is legal, we will see if this stays the same.

Q: Why is(n't) X banned?
A: The initial banlist was made to ban as few things as possible while still removing the absurdly broken Pokemon like Gligar and Scyther. Feel free to comment on the banlist and why you feel something should or should not be banned.

7/28/19 edit: Using this post as a quick way to access Ranshop:

Hello there! Welcome to OM Mashup! This is an introduction post to Pure Hackmons, the mashup between Balanced Hackmons and Anything Goes!

From Generation 6 to Generation 7, many changes have been made to this meta and I am here to explain the biggest changes and how they would greatly impact this metagame.

Please note: All of this is just a speculation of how the meta would turn out.

The list of changes will be separated into four categories: Nerfs, Abilities, Moves, and Mechanics.

Let's start with nerfs!

Nerfs:

Every new generation comes with its lists of moves and abilities to nerf. Generation 7 however took nerfing to higher standards as they bring a much higher impact to the metagame we know of today.

List of nerfs:
Generation 7 made it to where Prankster no longer affects Dark-type Pokemon when moves are being used against them.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Sableye, Spiritomb, Yveltal, Giratina

Due to this nerf, Dark-type Pokemon are no longer able to be phazed or statused out by common Prankster users, with the common being Giratina.
Giratina worked as a Prankster no only because it was able to phaze out anything, but because it could set up a quick Curse and then Recover.
Prankster Giratina, who previously benefitted the most from Prankster, is no longer allowed to use Curse on common Dark-types, which is why it hinders from Prankster the most.

Dark Void's accuracy was nerfed to 50% and can only be used by Darkrai.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Safety Goggles users, Pokemon without No Guard.

Due to Dark Void being hindered, it is more likely for many players to resort to Spore, which Safety Googles blocks.
This marks the reason Safety Goggles users can benefit from this nerf. It makes them have to worry less about Dark Void.
Dark Void was the goto move for users without No Guard if they felt unsafe using Spore. With this nerf, the large majority of the Pokemon in this metagame who carry sleep inducing moves can only resort to Spore, which is often blocked off by Safety Goggles.
No Guard users are unaffected

Soul Dew used to help Latias/Latios' Special Attack and Special Defense to 1.5x in battle. However, Generation 7 nerfed it to where instead of boosting their stats, Dragon and Psychic-type moves are merely boosted by 1.2x.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Mega Latias/Mega Latios

Soul Dew largely affects just Latias and Latios. In Hackmons, Mega Latias and Mega Latios have the ability to benefit from Soul Dew just as Chansey benefits from Eviolite during transformation. However, since Soul Dew's boosts are now restricted to Latias and Latios' STAB attacks, their performance is for certain hindering.

You can now only use Destiny Bond once every two turns.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Sweepers, Prankster users

Prankster lands on the unlucky side of the mountain once again as a significant role for Prankster Pokemon is to make sure they use Destiny Bond first in order to take sweepers down with them. Because Pokemon cannot use Destiny Bond for more than one consecutive turn, sweepers are able to take advantage by continuing to set up when they predict an opponent is going to use Destiny Bond.

Sheer Cold no longer affects Ice-type Pokemon.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Ice-types, particularly Kyurem-Black, No Guard users

Due to the fact that Ice-type are no longer affected by Sheer Cold, more of these types of Pokemon are expected to florish in the metagame. This should come especially in Kyurem-Black's case due to its previous success as a bulky Ice-type -ate user. Kyurem-Black is more likely able to replace Wonder Guard Pokemon on certain occasions.

No Guard users are hindered as they have now lost what was previously the only OHKO move able to hit all 18 types. This will make it harder for No Guard users to choose one OHKO move to rely on in battle, as we now have a type to block each of them.

Gale Wings is only put into effect if the user is at full HP.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Mega Rayquaza, Yveltal

Generation 7 made Gale Wings virtually useless in the metagame since it's now only in effect of its users are in full HP. In Generation 6 Mega Rayquaza and Yveltal were the biggest Gale Wings abusers utilizing in Recovery and type-changing moves. This nerf gives these two Pokemon ond less option as to how they can be utilized.

The power of -ate attacks has been decreased from 1.3x to 1.2x

Pokemon expected to gain the most impact: -ate users, mostly Kyurem-Black, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Diancie

This nerf doesn't affect the performance of -ate users too much but it makes their normal-type attacks slightly weaker. Regardless, it is likely for the best -ate users, especially Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Black Kyurem to be successful.

Pokemon given Imposter by Skill Swap will no longer automatically transform into their opponent.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Imposter users, particularly Chansey

When PH was played in the past, it was possible for an untransformed Imposter Chansey to transform other Pokemon into itself by using Skill Swap. Since it can no longer do this, Chansey will have to run other moves for dealing with its opponent when it's not transformed.

Abilities:

When it comes to Pure Hackmons, abilities are one of if not the biggest factor when determining how Pokemon are used. Generation 7 packed us with many new crazy abilities to explore. The list below are what is most likely to affect the metagame as a whole.

List of abilities

Best user(s): Chansey, Blissey

Innards out is an ability that brings opponents down the same amount of HP as the user took when they get hit with a final blow. In short, this means if a 714 HP Blissey with Innards Out gets hit and OHKOed with a Close Combat, the Close Combat user also loses 714 HP.
This ability greatly impacts the use of Wonder Guard and other big pivots in the metagame as they will no longer feel safe to use U-Turn. This ability also makes Chansey/Blissey more threatening to sweepers as they now have an additional method of beating them.

Best user(s): Sweepers (Examples: Mega Rayquaza, Mega Latios, Pheromosa)

Queenly Majesty and Dazzling block priority moves from opposing Pokemon. This allows Pokemon to set up and sweep easier simply because priority is commonly used especially in -ates to outpace and KO sweepers. If they can block priority, they only have one less worry.

Best user(s): Zekrom

Similar to Pixilate, Refrigerate, and Aerilate, Galvanize now transforms Normal-type moves into Electric-type moves and boosts their attacks by 1.2x power. This helps Zekrom achieve more in the metagame as it is the best electric-type Pokemon competitively despite its lacking speed and this new opportunity has been given for not only its speed to matter less, but for its Electric STAB to be used more.

Best user(s): Giratina, Zygarde-Complete, Deoxys-Speed

This ability prevents Pokemon from being statused as they are deemed asleep. They can still use any attack in battle but they can also use Sleep Talk indefinitely. This ability works great not only because it blocks status but because it gives users the opportunity to once again use Whirlwind or Roar first in battle! If you give Comatose Pokemon Sleep Talk and Whirlwind, Whirlwind is able to be brought out at normal priority. Pokemon with this ability would love to carry Choice Scarf or have incredible speed. Other Pokemon would also like to be bulky and packed with HP in case their opponent is using the same strategy.

Best user(s): Mega Rayquaza

Triage gives every healing move +3 priority. This affects particularly Mega Rayquaza the most as this Pokemon should often tend to set up and attack with Oblivion Wing. Since Oblivion Wing gives +3 priority under Triage, Mega Rayquaza will be moving in first most turns. This of course affects other Pokemon, however in most other cases, Pokemon carrying recovery moves would rather have Prankster, since getting priority wouldn't be exclusive to healing and Oblivion Wing is the only significant attack move that heals a great amount.

Best user(s): Primal Kyogre

Water Bubble doubles the power of Water-type attacks. Honestly, I don't see this ability taking a great effect in this metagame, however, I see how it could work great with the absence of Wonder Guard Pokemon on the field due to the terrifying amount of damage Water-type moves would be able to pull off.

Moves:

The moves made in Generation 7 seem to possibly mark the biggest effect in the entire metagame. This is all done because of new secondary features added to these moves that weren't here for previous generations.

List of moves

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Mewtwo-Mega-X, Mewtwo-Mega-Y, Kartana, Other Huge Power/Pure Power or Protean users.

These three moves are known as the "Mold Breaker" moves as they break through almost any type of ability, including Wonder Guard. These moves will be the primary cause of what most likely will be a deduction of Wonder Guard Pokemon in the metagame. Sunsteel Strike or Photon Geyser when combined with Huge Power will be able to lead to a destructive force capable of slashing trough teams without any trouble. Moongeist Beam or Photon Geyser with a combination of Protean should allow Pokemon to set up without having to worry as much about being blocked off by Wonder Guard.

(Mewtwo-Mega-X is the biggest Huge Power abuser and Mewtwo-Mega-Y should be the biggest Protean abuser)

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Bulky users, Unaware Pokemon, Sweepers

Spectral Thief is a move that goes through Substitute and steals every positive stat boost your opponent gave to themselves. This severely hinders sweepers as it gives them less of an opportunity to sweep. Perhaps even less than ever before, but we can't be sure about this. Bulky Pokemon such as Giratina, Zygarde-Complete, and Yveltal would love to run this move as it would help them continue walling their way throughout an entire match. Unaware Pokemon would also enjoy having this move as it helps their team feel safer about switching into the sweeper.

Pokemon expected to be the most impacted: Sweepers, Unaware Pokemon

Power Trip works exactly like Stored Power, except it's Dark-type and physical. The main advantages this move has over Stored Power is that no Pokemon is immune to it and physical sweepers can now give it a shot. Unaware Pokemon are placed at a disadvantage as they can be overrun just from the sheer power of this move after plenty of setup boosts.

Mechanics:

There is no doubt every generation has a change in mechanics! Some mechanics change for the better, some change for the worse. Others are just a light breeze through the atmosphere. Here are what I think some of the most important mechanic changes are for Gen 7.

List of mechanics
Crystal-free Z-Moves means you are able to use Z-Moves without a crystal for this metagame since it is a Hackmons meta. Simply type down the name of the move in the teambuilder to add a Z-Move to your Pokemon. These moves still do take a moveslot from your Pokemon and each Crystal-free Z-move has only 1pp, so be careful.

Recommendations: Searing Sunraze Smash, Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, Extreme Evoboost

The Removal of the EV limit means you are now free to run more than 510 EVs on every Pokemon.

Generation 7 introduced us with 4 terrain abilities.

Electric Surge summons Electric Terrain, Grassy Surge summons Grassy Terrain, Misty Surge summons Misty Terrain, and Psychic Surge summons the newly added Psychic Terrain. Psychic Terrain will be useful to sweepers and Psychic-type Pokemon who want to use Photon Geyser as priority cannot hit them under this terrain unless they are flying and it boosts the power of Psychic-type attacks.

Insight:

Due to the many types of nerfs, abilities, moves, and additional mechanics, Pure Hackmons has changed so much since its last debut in Gen 6.
mentioned above. Predicting what the most significant changes would be in this metagame wasn't a hard task. I'll explain below.

Out of the significant changes, I predict for this community to see a small decline in Wonder Guard usage to be the biggest. Wonder Guard as an ability has been drastically nerfed by the introduction of "Mold Breaker" moves and even Innards Out, since a large amount of pivots are Wonder Guard users. This can cause players to either restrict themselves to weaker Wonder Guard users or in a more plausible manner, force players to use alternatives to U-Turn (Parting Shot and Volt Switch are recommended). Sheer Cold's nerf allows for there to be a type that is immune to at least one OHKO move. Ice-type Pokemon will also now be more frequent as they can now block off Deoxys-Speed's Sheer Cold attack. During Gen 6, Wonder Guard Pokemon were extremely notorious for being able to block off Sheer Cold, regardless of them not being the only option. However due to an additional option to block Sheer Cold being brought to Gen 7, it is a possibility for players to use those options to substitute for a Wonder Guard (Sturdy is another significant option).

To tie along with Wonder Guards being used less, Huge Power and Pure Power Pokemon are for certain going to be more centralizing. Since they now have the ability to carry Sunsteel Strike they can hit the majority of Wonder Guards with this move and narrow down their other moves for those who can resist. This in theory should make Huge Power/Pure Power Pokemon significantly harder to deal with for every team. However, this doesn't mean you still can't prepare! Innards Out Pokemon can be notorious for easily taking down Huge Power/Pure Power Pokemon and like in Generation 6, Huge Power/Pure Power Pokemon still always have 4-moveslot syndrome. You can always use Wonder Guard Pokemon with types only weak to the less common attacks Huge Power/Pure Power Pokemon may have. You can also run Fur Coat Pokemon that resist Sunsteel Strike and can take other attacks. These are just a portion of the best options to go against Huge Power Pokemon.

Crystal-free Z-Moves otherwise known as (CFZs) for many people seem that they can have a chance of being overwhelming. However, I don't believe for this to be the case. Due to the removal of the EV limit and the PP of these moves only being 1, I see these moves as being easily able to become outclassed in most cases. I will use the moves I recommended as examples.

Searing Sunraze Smash/Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom: These moves may have 200 BP and can only be used once but the Pokemon that like this attack the most would much rather have the 8 PP Sunsteel Strike/Moongiest Beam, able to tear though numerous different Pokemon. Teams are likely to have at least one or two Pokemon capable of walling Searing Sunraze Smash or Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom and once that move is gone, it's gone for good. Many teams are still expected to have around two Wonder Guard Pokemon, and if neither of them are significantly damaged, these moves can truly show to be a waste.

Extreme Evoboost: This is a great setup move for boosting each stat by +2, however, it has the same problem as every other Z-Move. It can only be used once. This move is outclassed by Shell Smash, Quiver Dance, and Shift Gear simply due to the higher chances your Pokemon has of being forced to switch out, whether it's by a 1v1 match-up or by force using Whirlwind/Roar. If you have used Extreme Evoboost and are forced to switch out in order to obtain victory (which is a common thing among great players), you will no longer be able to use the move and your Pokemon would virtually become useless for the rest of the match. Ingrain can be used to prevent Roar or Whirlwind from switching your Pokemon out, but in this meta, many other Pokemon have the opportunity to take advantage of this, especially if they're Unaware or another Pokemon able to wall a Extreme Evoboost user's attacks. It's better to keep running the same types of setup moves that were more common in Generation 6 in order for your Pokemon to stay more efficient.

Prior to Generation 7, there was an EV limit for PH, but as of a year ago, it was removed. The removed EV limit allows the majority of the metagame to become much bulkier than usual. This especially helps in Generation 7 as Huge Power/Pure Power Pokemon with .Mold Breaker moves are on the run. I expect the removal of this limit to greatly benefit the use of every Pokemon in Pure Hackmons as if otherwise, players would've likely been doomed to play a metagame like this.

Boi only God and probably drampa knows how much i wanted this to be a thing. Glad it is no longer a meme passed around by om room users. I want to post some set ideas i have to be used here. Will also post some teams once i build em back and hopefully perfect em.

This a mnm stab set i enjoy using
Jolteon @ Red Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Growth
- Weather Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

What ur looking at is the standard red orb raikou mnm set , but its way better. As opposed to raikou which is forced to run a rash nature to get access to weather ball, this gets access to it along with a good boosting move in growth and the ability to have a proper timid nature for its use. It also has a much more usable speed tier for mnm at base 130, which though may not be the ebst, i still find to be really solid for the meta. With electric coverage alongside weather ball and hp ice, alot of mons in the tier are hit for neutral or se dmg. Hidden power ice is naturally for stuff like zygarde which should be considered for defensive sets such as maybe a bulky coil set with tarrows. The thing even 2hkoes sablenite blissey on a roll and the 2hko is secured if sr's up even in the case of 252 def, 252 sp.def variants. However actually being able to go for 2hko can be a little trouble as its only able to 2hko after a boost, at which point blissey will probably switching in on u boosting. Its a nice set idea and i just wanted to see if i could bring jolteon into usage. Now i may not have listed other walls but i sadly missed out the mnm forum stab tour and i havent been able to do much matches so i cant properly give in detail how effective this is.

Another not properly tested set but can probably work with another item like sablenite
Zygarde @ Venusaurite
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Shore Up
- Dragon Tail
- Coil

This is basically an idea i had for a check for the aforementioned mon. Though hidden power ice still 2hkoes it on a roll(after growth boost) so it can only 1v1 it at best or hope to swap into it while its using tbolt or weather ball (the latter only properly tanked after mega evolving). Dtail is to help force mons boosting out other than just jolteon and could potentially be used for forcing out blissey which will defintiely be even more of a threat thanks to becoming a fatter ditto (though wihout auto transform). This set may work better with sablenite though, as i stated previously, as u can avoid being toxiced and then switch out with dtail any non fairies trying to setup along with you or outbulked.

Here's a meme set for Pure Hackmons:

Pidgeot @ Pidgeotite
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sheer Cold
- Horn Drill
- Spore
- Simple Beam

Can be used as a revenge killer, or with slow pivot support. Can trap and OHKO almost any one mon, so long as the mon in question is too slow or too weak to kill it first (Tailwind / Psychic Surge support may be useful). Unfortunately the trapping only works once, but you can still potentially kill multiple mons.
Spore (or Lovely Kiss, if for some reason Wonder Guard+Safety Goggles becomes popular) and Simple Beam are there to deal with Wonder Guard - as long as your opponent is slower than non-mega Pidgeot and you get at least a two turn sleep, you can Spore > Simple Beam > Mega Evolve > OHKO and there's nothing they can do to stop it.

Edit: Ignore what I said about Psychic Surge, it won't help since Pidgeot is a flying type.

For BH doubles, I suggest banning Soul-Heart. Soul-Heart activates every time a Pokemon faints (not when it KO a Pokemon by itself), with more Pokemon being present on the field, it will boost their special attack to ludicrous level rather quickly. It sounds simple, yet it is actually very dangerous. As for unban, I say probably Magnet Pull since it only traps Steel-type Pokemon, and there are more Pokemon being present in the field.

As for AAA doubles, I feel like it should start off by unbanning all Pokemon that was banned in AAA with the sole exception of Shedinja first, especial with Keldeo and Terrakion, since Fighting-type has mostly been phased out in Doubles OU. Oh yeah, and ban Soul-Heart (same reason as I stated above). I'm not sure about Speed Boost yet, but with speed control, it's definitely more manageable in AAA doubles.

Moving on to MnM Doubles, Snorlax should be allowed for mega evolving. Allowing it to mega evolving will not impact the format all that much as it removes being able to utilize its Gluttony ability and 50% pinch berry, making it difficult to pull off Belly Drum as a Mega Snorlax. Its Curse set might work, but it still lacks the pinch berry recovery. Also, allow Dragonite to mega evolve, it definitely won't start off as a regular Dragonite it can be double-targetted, thus it's easy for Dragonite's Multiscale to break.

Level 51 actually has organized Doubles STABmon tournament before and I got my butt kicked hard (with stuff like Mega Aerodactyl and Kyurem-Black being allowed), so you better ask him rather than me. Still, if I have to point out, the banlist lacks Diamond Storm, Shedinja, and Drizzle.

Hi yes it's me and I've been tagged. We did this a while ago and the banlist we implemented was:
  • Pokemon: Komala, Shedinja, Silvally
  • Moves: Chatter, Diamond Storm, Geomancy, Lovely Kiss, Shell Smash, Shift Gear, Thousand Arrows
  • Abilities: Drizzle
Would much recommend using this slimmer banlist; a lot of the Pokemon you listed are fairly underwhelming in DOU. As for our bans which you don't have, Shedinja because Thousand Waves + Rage Powder + Wonder Guard is stupid, while Lovely Kiss is outright banned because DOU has no Sleep Clause. Also, perhaps consider banning Swift Swim ++ Drizzle instead of just Drizzle since Swift Swim is the broken element. Cheers

I strongly suggest banning Kangaskhanite in STABMnMs. Super Fang + Seismic Toss kills literally everything slower than it bar ghosts and still does 75 to offensive checks, like Terrakion. You would need 801 HP to survive this, which is well above the maximum possible of 714. Obviously this combo does not hit ghosts, but with Arceus-Ghost gone, the only reasonable ghost that is happy to switch into crunch is Giratina-A. Additionally, it can forgo crunch to be bulky, since its 2hko-everything-but-ghosts combo does not require any atk investment. I think it's fair to compare this to parental bond in BH.

I will submit this replay as evidence, where you can see that even when it missed its first attack, it still did 75 to both blissey and lugia without dying and with no way to stop it.

Unless anyone has a problem with this banlist I will be adopting it. Speak now or forever hold your peace. I will freely admit I know little of LC and less of Doubles, so those knowledgeable in these metas are encouraged to share their wisdom here.

Other things of note:
-Ransei has agreed to lead Pure Hackmons (aka BH AG). Everyone please give Ransei all your respect and support ^_^
- MnM STABmons is discussing banning Mega Kangaskhan and Entei. Entei has a potent combination of V-Create and -atespeed, providing a one two punch that both forces many offensive threats out due to the threat of atespeed and is extremely difficult for those teams to switch into. Walls for it do exist however, in the form of Blue Orb Celesteela (or Skarmory) and Physically Defensive Primal Groudon.
Mega Kangaskhan's problems are summed up well in the post above this by Ihhca.
What do you think?

- The original gen 6 AAA ubers banlist had many fewer ability bans then regular AAA (see here). Should we attempt to resemble that banlist or the gen 7 AAA banlist more? What specifically should be unbanned, if anything?

Of course feel free to bring up anything else, and especially to post replays, sample teams, or sets!

It's time to give out heated sets for the new Pure Hackmons Metagame. Tonight I will be posting down three simple starter sets I feel could potentially become insane. Here goes!

Mewtwo-Mega-X @ Shed Shell
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Photon Geyser
- Play Rough
- Sacred Fire
- Knock Off

Throughout the small portion of time I spend discovering the possibilities this metagame can hold, I have discovered the destructive power of both Mega Mewtwos. Mewtwo-Mega-X starts off as the main Pokemon in the metagame with the ability to use many different types of sets successfully, including CFZs (which are actually much better than I expected when used by the two forms). I have decided to build a set based solely on Photon Geyser Mewtwo and explain what it can do.

Simply enough, STAB Photon Geyser with Huge Power is able to to deal massive amounts of damage to the majority of the metagame, as it tears through any ability while at the same time carrying double the power. Although you can use this move to do dangerous things, you'd have to be careful as it only has 8 PP.

The opportunity to have Photon Geyser as Mewtwo-Mega-X's main move on this set allows it to narrow down the rest of its options specifically for types that resist or are completely immune to Photon Geyser. The types that follow in this category are Dark, Steel, and Psychic, types of which Gamefreak has of course given us opportunities to overcome. The biggest weakness to what would be considered the best Dark-type Pokemon in Pure Hackmons (Pokemon such as Yveltal, Mega Sableye, and Spiritomb) would be Fairy-type. Since Mewtwo-Mega-X has Huge Power, physical moves are what's best for it. Play Rough is the most efficient physical Fairy-type move a Pokemon can have as it allows them to deal with multiple Dark-types without having to go though the barriers of a Ghost-type's immunity to fighting. Play Rough also allows Mewtwo-Mega-X to risk and possibly win a speed tie against other Mewtwo-Mega-X, OHKOing them.

Steel-type Pokemon also tend to resist Photon Geyser so Mewtwo-Mega-X was only given the most dangerous weapon against those Pokemon, which is Sacred Fire. Sacred Fire is able to hit a large majority of Steel-type Pokemon super effectively including the Steel-types with a type combination of Bug and Steel. These are the Steel-types Mewtwo users should be most concerned about as they often carry Wonder Guard to take advantage of their one weakness, which is of course, Fire.

If you've noticed the trend you now notice that Psychic is the only type that remains resistant to Photon Geyser. The best offensive typing Psychic is weak to in this metagame is Dark, so Mewtwo-Mega-X would love to have a physical Dark-type move with this set. Many moves can compete for its usage but most of them are quite lacking in comparison to Knock Off which can have 130 base power if the opponent holds an item. Items are held by the majority of the metagame and therefore Knock Off can work to its full effect a lot of the time. This move should OHKO most Psychic-type Pokemon.

Shed Shell allows Mewtwo-Mega-X to switch out in case a fast Shadow Tag Pokemon tries to swoop in, protect with King's Shield, and use Encore.

Mewtwo-Mega-Y @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Protean
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance / Tail Glow
- Moongeist Beam
- Photon Geyser
- King's Shield

When I mentioned the Mega Mewtwos being absurd in this metagame, Mewtwo-Mega-Y was no exception. This Pokemon runs Protean for external STAB while using any attack, which helps boost its damage output even further.

Quiver Dance can simply be used to set up your Speed stat as well as your Special Attack and Special Defense each by one stage. Using this move involves a slower setup process than when using Tail Glow due to its smaller amount of boosts, but unlike Tail Glow it provides Speed boost, allowing Mewtwo to outspeed fearsome opponents such as Deoxys-Speed with one boost. If you believe you don't need a Speed boost you can always run Tail Glow, which sets up Special Attack much quicker.

Moongeist Beam can be used to take care of bulkier Ghost-type Pokemon. Since it's now a STAB base 100 SpA attack, under Tail Glow or Quiver Dance, this move should be able to decimate these types of Pokemon in particular, but can be used for other Pokemon that don't resist Ghost.

Photon Geyser is Mewtwo-Mega-Y's primary STAB move and can especially be ran under Psychic Terrain to do more damage than usual. Outside terrain it's just a good alternative STAB move able to decimate Pokemon after enough boosts, just like Moongeist Beam.

King's Shield is used just in case Mewtwo-Mega-Y needs to go defensive. It turns Mewtwo's type into the great defensive Steel-type Pokemon so that it can resist both moves. However, the primary purpose of this move is to make sure physical attackers who try attacking have their attack stat sliced in half. This is beneficial for Mewtwo as it would no longer have to worry as much about its base 70 Defense.

Safety Goggles allows Mewtwo to setup easier as it protects Mewtwo from Spore.

Chansey @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Innards Out
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Def
- Shore Up
- Stealth Rock / Defog / Aromatherapy
- Transform
- Parting Shot / U-Turn / Volt Switch

This Chansey's main purpose is to utilize its Innards Out ability in order to beat down physical attackers and U-Turn pivots with ease.

Its EVs and IVs are quite strange, but let me explain. Chansey needs as much HP as possible with as little defense as possible in order to successfully do as much recoil damage as possible to the opponent after they knock it out. Chansey's minimum defense stat at level 100 is 13, which allows it to be OHKOed by a significant amount of physical attackers and U-Turn pivots in the metagame despite their own attack stat. I kept its SpD at max because Chansey regardless is most likely going to take Special Attack moves, so it needs to be as specially bulky as possible in order to take the least amount of special damage. This is to keep its HP as high as possible before it recovers just in case it gets KOed. Chansey's Attack is kept at a minimum because it's already so low that it can't really do much with it. You also ironically want less Foul Play damage as Chansey is likely to survive (252 Atk Abomasnow Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0- Def Chansey: 570-671 (80.9 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO) vs (252 Atk Abomasnow Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0- Def Chansey: 79-94 (11.2 - 13.3%) -- possible 8HKO)

Its moves are truly just based on alternative option for Chansey just in case the opponent decides to not touch it.

If Chansey has already taken damage but without getting KOed, Shore Up is there for easy recovery. You should see Shore Up as a priority when your HP is lowered. Also, Shore Up gives a better opportunity than most other heal moves, as it heals around 67% of its HP under a sandstorm, which should be rare in PH but still with the possibility of existing.

Stealth Rock, Defog, and Aromatherapy are alternative moves you can use if your opponent refuses to touch Chansey. This gives Chansey the opportunity to easily set up rocks in front of its opponent, clear away rocks so that it and other Pokemon won't have to worry about taking external damage when sent out, and Aromatherapy in case the opponent inflicted at least one major Pokemon on your team with status, even if said Pokemon is Chansey.

The other great option for Chansey when an opponent isn't attacking is for it to just switch out. Parting Shot is an ideal move to switch out with as it lowers the opponent's Attack and Special Attack by one stage, causing it to do less to the rest of your Pokemon until they use setup or switch out. Volt Switch and U-Turn can also be used if you are worried about Soundproof or want to do minimal chip damage.

Chansey does not like Eviolite on this set as its main purpose is to give itself away to physical attackers and U-Turn pivots. Eviolite gives it the risk of tanking a few of the weaker pivots of the metagame.

Regarding the Pure Hackmons Innards Out Chansey set, we at Balanced Hackmons tended to give it pinch berries (e.g. Iapapa Berry) so it could still be a nuke after getting nearly OHKOd.

Wonder Guard + Burn Out, a new Gen 7 Move you should likely add to the list of new moves since the shift from Gen 6 to Gen 7.

Regular Air Balloon Wonder Guard sets are broken by Thousand Arrows. In this scenario, however, you are typeless, similar to Tornados with Roost. Weak to Photon Geyser, Moongeist Beam and Sunsteel Strike, although the STAB users of those moves tend to be weak to Burn Out, Power Trip, or Reversal.

Darmanitan
Darmanitan @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Attack / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
IVs: 0 HP / 0 Def / 0 SpD
- Burn Up
- Taunt / Reversal
- Shell Smash
- Power Trip

Taunt against Perish Song, Curse, Toxic, Leech Seed, etc. to prevent all passive move damage, and stay immune to all actual attacks. Now you can simply sweep with move damage in Power Trip, and Reversal. Both moves compliment each other type-wise, while sporting high base power in spite of lack of STAB.
Deoxys-S:
Deoxys-S @ Focus Sash/Lum Berry
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 252 Spe

- Taunt
- Filler

2 turns away from invulnerability: Turn 1 Conversion, Turn 2 Burnout, Turn 3 Taunt to prevent Perish Song and other moves that don’t deal direct damage.

The thing about using Burn Up on Wonder Guard Pokemon is that it's a tedious and unnecessary strategy. First of all, you have to hit Burn Up for your Pokemon to be typeless. This automatically gives the advantage to other Wonder Guard as they can switch in and prevent your Pokemon from becoming typeless. The second thing is that your type resets to fire every time you switch out, which in this metagame, Wonder Guards especially have to switch out from time to time. It's hard to stay in due to the combination of moves like Sing + Gastro Acid + Sheer Cold / Whirlwind / Sunsteel Strike / Moongiest Beam / Thousand Arrows / Diamond Storm, or even if you have a better opportunity of switching out into a different Pokemon in order to sweep or clear hazards.

Also, the majority of Wonder Guard Pokemon are not meant to be sweepers. They lack either the power or the proper coverage they need without a mold breaker ability to be useful as sweepers. There are some exceptions which I may get to later.

Ya it was just more of a “what do I do now that I am immune” type of ordeal in regards to Shell Smash and Power Trip.

I also think Rattata-Alolan, having Immunity to Moongeist Beam, and Photon Geyser might be something unique to consider on FEAR sets (Sturdy with Shell Bell), and packing moves like Imprison, Sunsteel Strike, Endeavor, Pain Split/Foul Play could be something but obviously you would have to have a turn to use Imprison and then Endeavor which could be hard. Perhaps a slow pivot behind a Substitute so when I used Imprison the Substitute Breaks; while Endeavor can be used the turn afterwards.

I apologize, it was more of me coming up with a concept rather than a final version... Pain Split can be used after Trick, or Knock Off, while Foul Play might be for Leftover users to deal the final blow after they heal the turn you use Endeavor.

I’ll try and look into it more.

A few points:
Wouldn't Core Enforcer be a significant addition in Gen 7 as a very common move on slow mons to remove abilities?
For CFZs I think you meant Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom and not Malicious Moonsault. One is Lunala/Dawn Wings' signature and the other is Incineroar's signature. Also, wouldn't Light That Burns The Sky, Clangorous Soulblaze and Oceanic Operetta be strong CFZ's? First one is just like SSS/MMM while second one has the opportunity to set up and deal a lot of damage in one go while the last one can get boosted by Water Bubble to become a disgusting nuke.
A question: does natures madness and night shade hit through wonder guard? Because that is a 2hko that doesn't have immunities

1) Those two moves don't hit
2) I did mean Menacing Moonraze Maelstorm, my bad
3) Light That Burns The Sky is great and all but I find the move being extra risky in comparison to Solgaleo and Lunala's Z-moves, since there can be many Dark-types around that can switch into it. As for Oceanic Operetta, it's not a mold breaker Z-Move, meaning it'll have a harder time having successful use. I mentioned Water Bubble and Oceanic Operetta with Water Bubble would be perfect but as I said, I don't see it having too much of a use unless there is an absolute absence of Wonder Guard on your opponent's team. This is only the biggest problem this ability has as an offensive presence. You're simply just relying on Water-type, which isn't a very high quality type for offense moves in this meta.
4) Core Enforcer is a nice addition but is outclassed by Gastro Acid due to the presence of Wonder Guard. Core Enforcer won't be able to hit as many things as it does in BH

Edit: Left out Clangorous Soulblaze. This Z-Move move has a similar problem to Oceanic Operetta. It'd be harder to hit in this metagame making it harder to setup than if you were to use Shell Smash or Extreme Evoboost. This Z-Move overall should be inefficient.

What about Choice Scarf Ash-Greninja Mold Breaker with those Z-Moves? Oceanic Operatta is also a Sound Move, so it bypasses Substitute, is immune to Prankster, and can use STAB Malicious Moonsalt as well.

Can’t it use Assist to call those moves without the PP limit?

1) Assist does not call out CFZs but Greninja can use it to call out other moves. The move it chooses can be random however and can be inefficient.

2) The Greninja set sounds good to face off against the offensive portion of the metagame, but only when neither of your opponent's Pokemon have used setup. However, Those Z-Moves will still get walled by some of the bulkier portion of the meta (mostly due to the lack of stat boosters on this Greninja set). Also after Greninja uses a Z-move under scarf and the opponent finds out it's Scarf, they'll know it is forced to switch out. Third thing is that Greninja is done after it just uses 4 Z-Moves despite how well it did. Other Pokemon in this metagame would be able to use CFZs better than this Greninja, especially when holding another item. When it comes to Z-Moves it's best just running 1-2 on a Pokemon. Despite what I said about Menacing Moonraze Maelstorm and Searing Sunraze Smash, those CFZs are going to be the ones to most closely define this meta.

First of all, thank you for your answers. Add Light That Burns the Sky to the list after MMM and SSS you mentioned I that post.

I know in the earlier Gen 7 Balanced Hackmons people would use Sleep Talk and Copycat for CFZ, especially with Comastose. Do all Call moves function the same way as Assist?

This is Important in case you give a Comatose Pokemon Sleep Talk and 1 CFZ (and 2 other non-callable moves such as Assist or Copycat). Then you can spam a STAB CFZ and hold a useful item like Life Orb, and use Assist to call a teammate’s other strong Attack like V-Create (if you give your teammates all 3/4 moves that cannot be called by Assist, such as other CFZ moves or Assist or Copy Cat, and just 1 matching move).

In Bukbapedia, it says Normalize doesn’t impact damaging Z-moves, but isn’t that only through the direct effect of using that Z-move’s Z-Crystal? This is something to consider Incase you have something like Normalize Light That Burns the Sky on Arceus, with other moves like Dread Judgement Plate, etc.

This is also important for Pokémon with -Ate abilities taking advantage of Pulverizing Pancake so that they can turn it into a Nuke stronger than Flail and then use Copycat.

Ultimate-Necrozma @ Life Orb/Leppa Berry
Ability: Comatose
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- The Light That Burns the Sky
- Clanglorious Soulblaze
- Sleep Talk / Copycat
- Assist / Copycat / Recycle

Sleep Talk, if it can, could be used to call CFZ when pp is 0. Assist is to call other strong moves like V-Create, Copycat is to call CFZ that an opponent may use, while Recycle is to gain a Leppa Berry to regenerate its PP on CFZ moves if Sleep Talk is stopped via Imprison.
Dialga @ Leppa Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / SpD / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Searing Sunraze Smash
- Clanglorious Soulblaze
- Sunny Day
- Morning Sun

Breaks the foe’s Wonderguard via SSS and boosts its stats with Clanglorious Soulblaze, while Morning Sun is to heal during the extended weather. It’s bulky enough to pull it off, while being able to threaten Fairy Types immune to Canglorious Soulbaze with its Steel Typing.

CFZs unfortunately cannot be called out by Assist, Copycat or Sleep Talk but Sunny Day Harvest most certainly can do the trick to make CFZ moves spammable!

Zygarde-Complete @ Leppa Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Searing Sunraze Smash
- Clangorous Soulblaze
- Sunny Day
- Extreme Evoboost

I have tested out this set in particular to see how it was and it seems to have some good potential. Extreme Evoboost is there simply because it provides better and easier to access setup than Clangorous Soulblaze. This set isn't invincible but it might be able to pull in some work on teams.

I decided to go for Zygarde-Complete over Ultra Necrozma since its bulk allows me to setup Sunny Day/Extreme Evoboost and survive easier

I was looking at the Staaabmons mashup, and some things caught my eye, and some things I think we should consider.

1. I think we should unban Tapu Lele: Lele was banned in part in Stabmons because of the secondary effects that Psychic Surge has as well as its good offensive stats (post link here). However in AAA, the ability that Lele provided in Stabmons can now be seen on any pokemon, and thus Tapu Lele's unique utility that caused it to be banned in Stabmons is no longer unique, and thus can be unbanned.

2. I think we can unban Tapu Koko (maybe a suspect test of sorts): In AAA, Koko's best abilities are Galvanize and Pixilate in order to fix its moveset problems. However, in Stabmons, its moveset problems are no longer an issue as it can run Bolt Strike and Play Rough. The difference was that the power and versatility that Koko had in Stabmons caused it to be banned (post link here). Although, part of that power comes from its ability in Electric Surge which boosts Electric type moves. Although, similarly to Tapu Lele, Electric Surge can also be seen anywhere, and thus is no longer unique to Tapu Koko. AAA also has Motor Drive / Volt Absorb, allowing things like Skarmory to hardwall Tapu Koko. Tapu Koko's main sets in either metagame seem invalidated due to the other metagame, so I'm not entirely sure where it could fall, but it seems worth looking at.

3. I think we can unban Porygon Z: Porygon Z was banned in Stabmons due to its "raw power thanks to adaptability" (post link here). However, Adaptability is abundant in AAA, so Porygon Z isn't special in that sense anymore. However, I believe we should keep an eye on Adaptability. Adaptability has made some Pokemon problematic in AAA, like Terrakion with nearly unresisted coverage, and that was banned. Adding Stabmons to the mix, most Pokemon get improved Stab moves (a la Tapu Koko), and then Adaptability further enhances that power, and it could quickly spiral out of control.

If this mashup gets played more often (via tours and such), then other things might come to light, these are just my initial thoughts having looked at the banlist for Staaabmons.
