There is no absolute best, with that said I'm quite fond of altaria versatility and baiting power. What's the best Mega-Evolution in OU?
Kinda subjective but I'd say the best one overall is AltariaWhat's the best Mega-Evolution in OU?
Closer together, balanced cores have defensive components but less passivity, etc.In the good cores thread, what's the difference between balanced and defensive cores? It seems like a number of balanced cores, e.g. Hippowdon + Ferrothorn + Starmie, Gliscor + Clefable, Mega Altaria + Slowbro + Heatran, that could go into defensive as well.
They're so similar (to me at least) that most won't notice that the third one is under defensive, not balanced.
Am I missing something or are balance/defensive just closer together than the offensive cores, which are clearly offensive e.g. Bisharp + Weavile, Birdspam, etc.? Thanks in advance!

The thing with custap is that it allows Skarm to get off another move against mons that either have their own priority (think a volt switch into BP Scizor), or mons that would otherwise outspeed it (mega mane, lop, & above). Salac sort of has a use against certain teams, but the majority of the time salac will be better because it ensures that it'll get off a move against anything other than like BB Talon or something. Are there any advantages to running Salac over Custap on lead Skarmory? Is it worth it to do so?
For its fast Swords Dance Sweep set, yes, that's the best combination, although some people use no item to get a powerful + recoilless Acrobatics. However, for its wallbreaker set, Choice Band is the best item, and the nature can be either Adamant or Jolly (depends on what Speed tier you specifically need to outspeed; 110s or 111s+). As for the defensive set, a Careful nature with Leftovers is the best to assure general survivability, but again, itemless w/ Acrobatics also works. Is Jolly / Sharp Beak still the preferred nature / item on Talonflame? What's the advantage over Adamant / Leftovers?
azelf is usually betterCould Mesprit be viable enough with having access to Stealth Rock and Healing Wish as well as decent speed for a hazard setter?
It even has decent bulk 80/105/105 and Offensive stats 105/105. As well as being immune to TSpike, Spike, and Sticky Web?
If you really want a consistent rock setter with Healing Wish, why not just use Clefable?I mentioned Mesprit because of better bulk and being able to consistently place rocks through a game. So I wasn't looking for a suicide lead. Thanks anyway
Out of curiosity, why it over Mew, which has Roost and better bulk, or Uxie, which has significantly better bulk and the same typing? Unless you absolutely need Healing Wish + Rocks + Psychic typing + Ground immunity, it just doesn't seem necessary to use Mesprit.Could Mesprit be viable enough with having access to Stealth Rock and Healing Wish as well as decent speed for a hazard setter?

Honestly, if you think it has potential, I say just go out and try it. If it works for you, awesome, and if you find you don't like it, you at least have some potential alternatives in the back that can take its place. The thing is Mesprit is sorta in between. It has better offensive presence than Uxie but a slight significant amount less of bulk than Mew. However it has Healing Wish along with an immunity to TSpike and good ol Spikes that Mew wish it had. Just saying.
What are some good mons to lay down Spikes and SR while also hitting hard enough to wallbreak?

Hey I need help with teambuilding!
I have been in the 1400-1500 range on the ladder recently and I am stuck so I scrapped my team and decided to build a new one.
I knew I liked hyper offense so Gengar-Bisharp core was where I started
I then needed a mega and Altaria provides incerdible offensive and defensive synergy with the original core so I added him.
Ok so here is where I need help, I am not sure of two things:
1. What is the ideal moveset for an offensive mega Altaria
2. What other mons do you think fit with this as I really am kind of lost
If this is in the wrong place please tell me and I will relocate this post, Any and all help is appreciated!
