Jolly nature also gets the jump on Jolly Bisharp and Breloom before D-Dancing which is quite important. However, Adamant could be opted for for power purposes (i.e OHKOing Gengar w/ Return at +1 etc.)
You still beat Mega Altaria even if you're outsped so that doesn't really matter. The extra bulk from the HP investment is actually pretty important because you fail to check many pokemon you are supposed to check. Why doesn't offensive MVenu run speed?
Last time I checked special Altaria runs max speed, and both venu and alt have the same speed.
It's because Megas Pinsir, Gallade, and Medicham were banned from the lower tiers based on community or council votes, rather than because they are OU by usage. It's the mega stone that is banned, so the regular forms can be used where they end up by usage. Altaria, Lopunny, and Manectric, however, are OU by usage, so cannot be used in the lower tiers. While they are never used without their mega stone, the usage stats are based off their regular forms.I have a question about the rules in regards to tiering Mega Evolutions.
What I noticed is that when an NU or RU mon gets a powerful mega evolution, sometimes it'll still be allowed in the lower tiers, but its mega stone will be banned to OU. For instance, Pinsir, Gallade and Medicham are legal in RU and below, but Pinsirite, Galladite and Medichamite are not.
But that's not always the case. I see a lot of formerly NU mons that are no longer allowed in that tier, even without their mega stones. Charizard, Manectric, Altaria and Lopunny are just a few examples.
So, yeah, I'm a little confused. What's the rule? Is it determined on a case-by-case basis?
Lower tiers generally ban mega stones that are deemed too powerful for that tier. Examples include Pinsir and Gallade. However, neither Pinsir nor Gallade receive enough usage to be OU, so they are put in lower tiers according to their usage. In this case, both are NU as neither mon receives enough usage to be in any of the higher tiers.I have a question about the rules in regards to tiering Mega Evolutions.

If anything the Lando-I ban should make defensive Venusaur more viable, since Venusaur is one of those walls that Lando-I was so good at breaking. Will the ban of landorus-I affect the viability of physically defensive mega venusaur?I've noticed that landorus-I had been in many teams with venusaur and it seems like that venu needs a very strong wallbreaker.
Thanks for the answer. Anyways, I meant that venusaur needed a strong wallbreaker in his team to break walls for him.If anything the Lando-I ban should make defensive Venusaur more viable, since Venusaur is one of those walls that Lando-I was so good at breaking.
Your second sentence is unclear - do you mean that Venusaur benefitted from Landorus breaking opposing walls, or that you needed a wallbreaker like Lando-I to break Venusaur? The latter makes more sense - in which case, see the above answer - but from the phrasing it looks like you mean the former - in which case, defensive Pokémon like Venusaur don't benefit from opposing walls being broken as much as more offensive Pokémon do.
Fast cleaners appreciate that much more. Things like Gengar, Alakazam, Dragonite, Lopunny, etc. Venusaur is really too slow and weak to take advantage, since even things that aren't dedicated walls will be able to stop most 'sweeps'.Thanks for the answer. http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/badge-faq.3498079/So how do I get badges?
Your team seems quite weak to Mega Metagross and Mega Altaria, have you thought about Bisharp because it's a good offensive check to MGross and it puts a decent amount of pressure on AltariaSo how do I get badges?
And what would go good as a final member in this team?
Thundurus - Special Wallbreaker
Entei - Physical Wallbreaker
Mega Gyarados - Stallbreaker & Sweeper
Clefable - Unaware & SR
Latios - Defog
I'm having a terribly hard time. Usually it all comes to me. I'd prefer a special attacker and it's HO
Aside from Entei, which can be really easy to wear down, it just looks like it can just come in and pick something off every time if it gets a free switch in. I suppose Thundurus can Twave it, but then you run the risk of losing it since it dies after SR. And to beat MGross with MGyara, you kinda need to play mindgames while mega evoingMega Altaria is a yes but how so with Metagross? Mega Gyarados threatens it a lot as well as Entei as EQ (If it runs it) can't OHKO it and it wrecks it with SF. Special attacker options?
http://www.smogon.com/badge_faqAlso how do I get the researcher badge as its linked to the thread cyconics and their years old.
It's the likelihood that you'll encounter the Pokémon at least once in one full day of battling (20 battles).I have been wondering about this; why is the OU usage cutoff at 3.41 %? Seems a pretty arbitrary number to used as a cutoff-point.
Fire Bomb (I think you're referring to the offensive one?) is probably the best, as it tears apart balance and stall to an extent, as well as giving Volcarona enough Speed to outpace the likes of Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Bulky Quiver Dance is pretty meh because it's just not that great offensively, lacks Speed to outpace revenge killers, and coverage.
The set is here:
Volcarona @ Passho Berry / Lum Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz / Hidden Power [Ground]
glad to hear it, I really like volc, thanks for the answers.Well no not completely useless, at +1 it beats offense pretty well because it outspeeds everything slower than Scarf Landorus-T. Stall maybe it struggles a bit more because of stuff like Chansey, AV Tornadus-T, and Clefable existing, but I wouldn't worry too much because it's a weakness easily patched up.
why is sand veil and brightpowder not banned? i was on a 21-0 win streak but then i lost to someone who was using a stupid sand team and i kept missing my moves like brave bird even though i had ways to beat a substitute swords dance garchomp. why would evasion clause exist but sand veil not banned? seems stupid to me. im really upset that i lost because of luck and nothing else.
I think you're more right in saying that it's just being overlooked, because that shit's broken as hell. Doughboy's team abuses it perfectly and is a bitch to beat, but literally no other team I have ever seen has been exploiting it.That'll be doughboy's sand veil team he RMT'd - I'm pretty sure he highlighted that it should be banned, but in a similiar way to Excadrill not being banned due to lack of permanent sand this gen, then sand veil has survived (or it's just been overlooked in the power creep).
