OU Simple Questions, Simple Answers (Read the OP First!)

re: shield dust question: no. as far as i know, shield dust does not prevent phazing from dragon tail, since the phazing is a primary effect rather than a secondary effect.

re: chadtherest00's replay: what's the question behind this? are you trying to prove a point about shuckle's viability? posting a replay showcasing a (somewhat lucky) victory against a guy that didn't know how to use meru's stall team doesn't exactly help your case here. if you truly believe shuckle is worthy of an ou analysis, bring it up with ou c&c, as shootinstarmie pointed out to you earlier on in the thread.

re: meru stall team question: this is meru's stall team.

Um honestly I wouldn't call it showcasing, just showing y'all it's pretty playable.
What's merus stall team?

So im trying to breed a HP Ice Abra with the nature Timid. I found this guide (http://eastcoastpokemonleague.blogspot.mx/2008/10/how-to-breed-hidden-power.html) that shows how to breed for HP Ice, however it says nothing about maintaining the pokemons nature. I'm assuming with this guide, its not taking into account of trying to maintain the pokemons nature and is assuming you would only be using power items to breed a pokemon for HP ice. would it be possible to breed a timid hp ice abra or is it something that would take hundreds of eggs to achieve? Thanks for any help :)

Ok I haven't played OU since like late August, and apparently Keldeo ain't banned so cool my team works forever more. Still though, have any major metagame shifts happened in that time, I know BP-NP-Celebi was catching on when I last played has that continued to spread, what else? Has anything been released?

NP Celebi has sorta died down, upsurge of mixrachi but besides that I can't really think of anything

do you get alerted when somebody deletes a post on a thread and if you don't get alerted is it courtisy to leave a messege that they did

No, you don't get alerted. And it's moderator discretion to send you a PM, explaining what you did wrong. Usually though, if you replied to someone else's post and you no longer can see that post, then chances are your post has been deleted cause the post you were replying to was deleted as well.

To get the desired Nature, you need to have one of the parents be that same Nature and have it hold an Everstone. So if you want a Timid Abra, you must breed using another Timid Abra, a Timid Ditto, or a Timid Human Like Pokemon (while using a female Abra).

For getting the right IVs for HP Ice, I find the best way is to make sure you pass on a 31 in SpAtk, SpDef, and Spe. 31/30/30/31/31/31 is the optimum set for HP Ice but Alakazam doesn't use its Atk stat and its Def is poor so it would be taking many physical hits, anyway. The maximum number of IVs that can be passed on is 3 plus an extra one if you make one of the parents hold the Power item corresponding to the stat you want to pass on. This means that having 2 parents with 31/x/x/31/31/31 with one of them holding a Power Item with the other being Timid and holding an Everstone would be the best way to get a Timid HP Ice Abra. (I'd recommend Speed since having 1 point less in it makes the biggest difference. HP is actually the hardest to pass on out of those, but Alakazam shouldn't be taking many hits, anyway).

Getting x/x/x/31/x/31 (aka, the only stats that really matter on an Alakazam) while also getting Timid and base 70 HP Ice is a 3 in 16384 chance assuming the parents are a x/x/x/31/x/x Timid Pokemon and a x/x/x/31/x/31 Pokemon holding a Power Anklet. Although, that seems extremely improbable so I either calculated something wrong or it's actually much better when you assume those x's aren't randomly generated. I remember I got a nice HP Ice Infernape in Diamond and it only took a couple hundred eggs.

Also, keep in mind that the Power Item IV inheriting started in HGSS and before BW, only the female could pass on a Nature with the Everstone. If you're doing this in Gen 5, you don't need to worry about that.

I'm building a sandstorm- gravity team, but I'm really confused about what Pokémon I can use to check Landorus. Any idea?

Slowbro is a usually solid counter for Landorus, which does heavy damage with Scald or can KO with Ice Beam, you may have issues with more offensive versions though. As a check, pretty much anything that can hit it with super effective damage, perhaps Mamoswine might be something to consider offensively and you can check with Ice Shard or even Icicle Crash, while using Earthquake in gravity.

I was thinking about Vaporeon with blizzard and scald. Is that a bad idea? !
