Removed Moves: Ancient Power, Earth Power, Stone Edge
"Herds of ancient Rampardos migrate to stormy canyons, seeking lightning strikes to recharge themselves. Conflict often stirs amongst them, the sounds of their skulls clashing are akin to that of a thunderclap."
Role: With Galvanize, Rampardos holds a unique niche as a physically offensive Electric-type wallbreaker and revenge-killer. Galvanize grants Rampardos a powerful Electric-type STAB Return (or Double-Edge if power is wanted over longevity) along with Fake Out to delete Aerodactyl, Ghoulpion, Omastar, and Kabutops before they can move. Rampardos also has a wide array of coverage options such as Earthquake for Torkoal and Ice Punch for Cradily, along with Swords Dance to boost its Attack to monstrous levels.

With 68 Speed, Jolly Scarf Rampardos outspeeds Aerodactyl, allowing it to KO Aero without Fake Out.

However, a lowered Attack stat with no Sheer Force means Rampardos' coverage options pack less of a punch. Its unchanged mediocre bulk also leaves it helpless without Fake Out against faster offensive threats.

"Both the seas and the land was its turf, it can swim to bone-crushing depths and then roam the beaches for prey. Omastar's venomous spit slides off its shell without harm, allowing to close in and earn its lunch."
Role: With a solid defensive typing and huge physical bulk, Carracosta acts as a blanket physical wall that can tank hits from nearly all of the meta's offensive threats. Its resistance to Stealth Rock and Fire-type damage (which is often seen in Scorching Pebbles spam) lets it switch-in repeatedly to clear hazards with Rapid Spin, set up Stealth Rock itself, or launch a strong attack. No Guard lets Carracosta abuse powerful attacks in Hydro Pump, Blizzard, Focus Blast, Stone Edge and its signature move Pierre Shores; giving it unresisted coverage and a notable offensive presence.

Aside from running physically defensive sets, Carracosta can also act as a powerful wallbreaker with Specs. Carracosta can also turn into a frightening mixed or special sweeper with Shell Smash, with Modest/Naive sets outspeeding Aerodactyl at +2.

Carracosta is however, worn down easily due to its lack of recovery. Carracosta also suffers from poor special bulk and having Grass as its kryptonite (i.e. Blossobite).

“By far the most intelligent ancient Pokemon. Learning from its behavior as an Archen, Urvogel Archeops is much more hesitant towards confrontation. It gathers in packs to have a better chance in the primeval world.”
Role: BulkyCheops: Draconic Boogaloo. With a slew of useful resistances, overall great bulk, attractive set of utility moves and high Speed; Archeops acts as a bulky utility mon that can switch-in to eat hits before proceeding to harass the opposing team and support its allies. Archeops can pivot with U-turn, remove items with Knock Off, set up Stealth Rock, clear hazards with Defog, deny status moves with Taunt, phaze with Dragon Tail, shut down sweepers with Haze, and force out foes with the weak but debilitating Breaking Swipe or with its decently strong Draco Meteor and Hurricane. Archeops’ resistance to Water lets it check Omastar and Ghoulpion, but it’s most notable for being able to wall Armaldo's STABs and OHKO it, beating one of the meta's biggest threats.

While all of these traits combined may appear overwhelming, Archeops' wings are clipped by its ability Flustered Bluster, which makes Archeops easy prey if it falls below half health. This makes Archeops reliant on both Roost and Heavy Duty Boots to maintain its bulk, limiting its item choices and moveslots. Speaking of, Archeops also suffers from 4MSS, as it is unable to run all of the utility moves and attacks it'd like to be able to. The loss of Earth Power and Meteor Beam in addition to its risky STAB attacks means it has a harder time applying offensive pressure as well.

“Magnetospheric plasma flows through its bright, flowing sails. It channels this plasma and combines it with its subzero breath to unleash a spectacular shower of hail and lightning.”
Role: As the meta's first weather setter, Aurorus uses Snow Warning to abuse perfectly-accurate Blizzards, set up Aurora Veil, and utilize its signature priority attack Borealis Bolt; which is an excellent revenge-killing tool against Aerodactyl and the meta's ubiquitous Water-types. Aurorus' STAB BoltBeam combo makes it a strong anti-meta threat as nothing in the meta resists both of its STABs. Its good speed tier lets it get the jump on Omastar and Ghoulpion, and being able to pivot with Volt Switch is icing on the cake.

Unfortunately, Aurorus' resistances are rarely seen (aside from Flying which is only seen on the Rock-type Aerodactyl) and its weaknesses are incredibly common. Notably, it is outpaced by Relicanth and Scarf Armaldo, who are both able to shrug off a Borealis Bolt or two and KO Aurorus with their STAB attacks.

"Coated entirely in shimmering metallic feathers, the king of the ancient world is equal parts magnificent and terrifying. It claims volcanic areas as its kingdom, taking down prey of any size with its steel-rending fangs."
Role: Apex Tyrantrum is able to utilize both the offensive and defensive qualities of its typing to good effect. Dragon + Steel offers solid neutral coverage that's bolstered by Swords Dance and additional coverage options such as Earthquake and Close Combat. Tyrantrum can act as a strong cleaner using Scale Shot, allowing it to sweep effectively. On the defensive side, Tyrantrum's great physical bulk in tandem with its many resistances lets it full-on wall Omastar while also being able to check Kabutops, Aerodactyl, and Ghoulpion. Tyrantrum is also able to set up Stealth Rock and phaze with Dragon Tail, lending it great utility as well.

However, Tyrantrum is heavily pressured and checked by Armaldo. Armaldo not only outspeeds Tyrantrum by a single point, Armaldo's nuclear Close Combat well over 2HKOs defensive Tyrantrum while offensive Tyrantrum gets OHKO'd. Armaldo also has the bulk to directly switch-in to defensive Tyrantrum and retaliate. And even with EQ, Tyrantrum requires SD or Choice Band Adamant to break past Torkoal and Lava Plume/Scorching Sands 2HKOs in return. Finally, Tyrantrum's lack of recovery can make it easy to wear down, and it especially hates being burned.

1. How does my Pokémon help with the current metagame problems?
what meta problems /gen
2. Is my Pokémon centralizing?
Probably, insanely good Spatk, Sheer Force, and an incredible movepool. so yeah probably.
3. How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon? (aerodactyl kabuto omastar and armaldo)
Omastar DESTROYS it if set up. Otherwise just gets Earth Power'd.

Aero gets Power Gem'd hard if running scarf.

Armaldo and Kabuto just get moonblasted.
Council has decided that this is much too strong with 135/87 offenses, Sheer Force, and near-perfect coverage, particularly in such a slow meta, as it outspeeds like, 80% of the mons. Would recommend either dropping Special Attack (100-110 is a bit more reasonable, if still pretty wild), lowering speed (preferably to the low 70s or high 60s), or removing Sheer Force completely (though you would still most likely have to do one of the other two as well).

Pokémon: Aurorus
Type: Steel / Ice
BST: 100/100/90/100/45/75
Abilities: Mirrored / Mirror Armor

Mirrored: When this Pokemon is hit, summons Reflect.

Moves added: Autotomize, Body Press, Heavy Slam, Metal Burst, Metal Sound, Mirror Shot, Trick Room
Mirror Shot now always hits with Mirror Armor and deals double damage.
Moves removed: Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, Hyper Voice, Meteor Beam, Psychic, Rock Blast, Rock Polish
Role: Physical Wall
Unfortunately, autoreflect in any form is very much busted, as it enables teammates too much. If you still absolutely want to keep the ability, we would recommend having it activate when Aurorus falls below 25% max HP but does not faint. Otherwise, just replace the ability and the sub is fine.

we kinda in the tar pits now!?!?!

1. How does my Pokémon help with the current metagame problems?
more special mons, mon who can beat ghoulpion (who is really strong rn)

3. How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon? (aerodactyl kabuto omastar and armaldo)
idk about aero

good MU against kabuto

idk about omastar

dies to armaldo... buut ig it can parting shot or flash cannon at +2 in TAR PIT thanks to Tar Runner.
With Tar Runner, there is nothing in the meta right now that can switch in or revenge kill this in Tar Pit, so this is too much. Would recommend either replacing Tar Runner entirely (we don't need more Tar Pit abusers in the meta at the moment), or lowering the Special Attack to something like 100.

Hello, my prehistoric friends! I've been tasked with revealing this slate's winners, so let's end the suspense, shall we?

The winners are as follows:

DuckeryDoodle with Bastiodon...
First ever petmod submission so here goes nothing...
Bastiodon-Overgrown

Typing: View attachment 404989View attachment 404990
Abilities: Bulletproof, Leaf Guard, Grassy Surge (HA)
Stats: 80/70/101/101/131/20 (502 BST)
Moves: Ferrothorn movepool + Mossy Surprise

Mossy Surprise: 80 BP 100% Accurate Special Grass Move, has a 30% chance to lower the targets speed by 2, 10 pp (Max 16)

Role: Wall, Bullky Special Attacker, Hazard Setter

Flavor: Bastiodon were so slow that they were known to be covered in moss, camouflaging them to other creatures and allowing it to better defend itself.

1. How does my Pokémon help with the current metagame problems?

It has a good matchup against Omastar, Mamswine and Kabuto, while also providing the Mod with a Steel-type and is more specially oriented, unlike the rest of the tier.

2. Is my Pokémon centralizing?

I don't think so, it has good matchups against some Pokemon, but struggles against others. It serves an almost identical role to Ferrothorn in OU, the only difference being it could opt to run a Special Attacker set.

3. How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon?

New Moves: Head Charge, Wild Charge, Meteor Beam
Removed Moves: N/A
Role: Wallbreaker

Flavor (if you want to): Rampardos-Cretaceous is the master of headbutting; it ran around the jungles of its home crashing through trees, boulders, and invading threats. Contrary to popular belief, Ramp was primarily herbivorous, and only occassionally ate a small mammal to supplement it's diet. It mainly ate sugary berries which it got from headbutting trees.

1. How does my Pokémon help with the current metagame problems?
Rampaedos doesn't really directly address any needed stressors in the metagame, its just a cool wallbreaker that isn't really broken. No Normals exist so it being the first is cool.

2. Is my Pokémon centralizing?
No not really, but I guess not a lot of great defensive Pokemon exist so it takes advantage of that, but tbh the same can be said for almost any average Wallbreaker. It may feel strong becuase of the very incomplete nature of this meta (no good scarfers, shitty defensive profile)

3. How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon? (aerodactyl kabuto omastar and armaldo)
Not sure what Aero runs but Ramp should win the 1v1. Kabuto and Omastar beat it because they are Water types but should be wary of a stray Wild Charge. I think Armaldo beats it but is afraid of directly swapping into like a CB set.

-Rock-type moves
Description:
Archeopteryx were fucking MAJESTIC. They also were the ancestor of ALL of the birds, so i went for the Fairy-type for those reasons. Regenerator is more of a competitive-focused idea, that pairs pretty well with a Pokémon like this.

1. How does my Pokémon help with the current metagame problems? Armaldo dies against it. Great pivot that helps defensive Pokémon on tanking stuff.
2. Is my Pokémon centralizing? I wouldn't say it really. This cannot OHKO Aerodactyl with its mid Special Attack, and Mamoswine is a death sentence to it. It still is useful and could be pretty good at stopping certain Pokémon.
3. How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon? decent vs kabuto, might win 1v1s. vs omastar you pivot, haze oma is an awesome partner. loses vs aerodactyl. THE BEST vs armaldo.

    • A Water immune Ground-type is very cool rn, even if it gets the pain and torture of having a Fire weakness. Dark-type is also neat since we just received two (2) Dark weak mons
  • Is my Pokémon centralizing?
    • I doubt it; its still weak to Water- or Fire-types depending on your ability, and also hates U-turn and Fighting Coverage
  • How good are its matchups against most of the centralizing Pokémon? (aerodactyl kabuto omastar and armaldo)
    • Aerodactyl: +1 Ice Fang/Terror Soar 2HKO, while Life Orb Stone Edge OHKOs/Liquidation has a 68% to OHKO

To start off, this slate is so fresh, Paleomons is gonna be turned upside its head. We finally have some defensive mons in a sea full of offensive beasts, though we’ve got some new threats as well. Meta’s gonna be wild for the next few days.

:bastiodon: The only Bastiodon I voted for, and the main reason I did not make a sub for Bastiodon. Ye it’s Ferrothorn, and? This mon is cash and will go hard in this meta. Omastar? A light snack. Kabutops? An all you can eat buffet. Ghoulpion? Eats Poltergeist for lunch if phys def. Aero? Well ok, Fire Fang does like 95% but you can’t win em all.

I think this mon is a welcome addition to the meta as an awesome counter and check to the meta’s monstrous Water-types. Personally, I’m looking forward to a potential core between this and Blossobite, though that probably isn’t gonna be a lasting staple.
also bulletproof bastio and this is exceedingly dumb but i wanna see a pyro ball or searing shot mon in a later slate just so i can see a fire attack do zero to a gras/steel type

:rampardos: I actually wanted to make a Normal-type Rampy, so this works out! STAB Head Smash and Afro Break with Rock Head? Now that’ll be fun to play with.

:archeops: speep. Pretty cool bulky and insanely fast pivot. Switcheroo Specs sounds funny. Kind of a shame it doesn’t resist most attacks in this meta but it is what it is. Adamant Band Armaldo U-Turn does 50-60% if this is max HP and max speed which sucks for it, but that’s more of a testament to how busted Armaldo is.

:carracosta: Shell Smash + Sucker Punch? Heck ye. This mon’s typing leaves it preyed upon by Kabutops, Armaldo, and Mamoswine but it does make for a solid check into Omastar and Ghoulpion which is cool. I see this as a fairly risky mon to use, it can easily sweep with Shell Smash but that typing also leaves it very susceptible to revenge-killing.

:tyrantrum: i made this :)

:aurorus: Freeze-Dry go brrrrr. I actually did not notice how fast this was until now, mon looks like a huge threat. All you need is Blizzard and Freeze-Dry and you hit the entire meta for supereffective or neutral. It also more than enough speed to be an Aurora Veil lead, so that’s another great option.

:bastiodon: it is ferrothorn. super centralizing by nature, and i'm not exactly happy to see this get in, but it is what it is. also grassy surge overwrites tar pit so lol.

:rampardos: balanced rampardos. pretty cool mon, and a viable head charge user is a really unique thing to see. no complaints here.

:archeops: doesn't change much in the current meta, but it's a pretty cool pivot in theory, so it should be good at some point. every moretto sub has to have regen from now on btw.

:carracosta: not seeing this running smash (at least, not in kabuto meta), though i may be missing something. personally, i just really like its defensive profile in the current meta. sure, it's scared of fires, but they can't switch in, and the tier is full of waters and tar pit anyway, so i'm looking forward to freely bullying ghoulpion with this.

:tyrantrum: don't really like this, since it's just another physical breaker in a tier full of them, but hey. on the bright side, at least it's another mon that checks omastar.

:aurorus: aurorus-pregnant :blobthinking:
pretty scary in current meta, particularly when our defensive steels are all ice neutral. pretty massive threat for now.

Added Moves: Dragon Pulse, Outrage, Dragon Dance
Removed Moves: None

Role: Mixed Attacker, Physical Wall

Flavor: Tangrowth-Scale learned how to control Dragon powers to protect itself from predators and to find food with more ease. It's based on Lepidodendron, a giant fern that looked like it had scales like a dragon, but actually just being fibers positioned like scales.

Role: Mixed Tank, Defensive Pivot, Utility
Flavour: Funny west slug obtain shell
Description: A funky mixed wall, boasting an excellent defensive typing and decent utility options with Scald, Clear Smog and Memento. Thanks to its amazing bulk and bevy of useful resistances it can easily tank hits from some of the tier's strongest wallbreakers and cripple them with Toxic or Scald. Just keep it away from Ground-types. Or give it an Air Balloon or something, idk

Omastar got you feeling down? Tired of Dragon Dance Aerodactyl* running over your teams? Then just slap this little critter on your team!
* Earthquake is a myth created by the government to dissuade you from using Gastrodon-Antitoxin. Don't believe their lies. Ground coverage doesn't exist
