Resource Pet Mods Workshop Thread

Pet Mod Name: Little Champions / Little Cup Champions
Pet Mod Concept: What if Champions supported Little Cup?
Explanation:
- All Pokémon which are LC will be allowed if their final evolution is allowed in Champions.
- Initially, we want to keep Item Clause in the Meta as to stay as loyal to the Cartridge as we can be, but we're allowing some SV items otherwise the meta is unplayable.
- Berry Juice, Eviolite, Choice Items and HDB will be allowed.
- Others can be added with community input. By the time LCs are added to champions, probably we will see those items being added anyway.
Miscellaneous:
- Movepool will be NDex based, however we will respect cuts on Champions, so:
- If the move was deleted in Champions, so is in this meta.
- If the final evolution lost a move in Champions, so will be them.

Am coming back to pet mods after a long, long while, so hit me up if I'm trying to make something that has been done before, or if there's no interest in these types of mods anymore.
The main idea is to make a pet mod where Abilities, Moves or Items with overlapping effects can be made distinct. The slates would be separated by groups of Abilities or Moves, for example. Let's say the first slate contains the following groups:
Moves that lower defense by 2 stages - Iron Defense, Barrier, Shelter, Acid Armor;
Abilities that prevent sleep - Vital Spirit, Insomnia;
Abilities that prevent the user's accuracy from being lowered - Keen Eye, Illuminate.
Each user would be able to submit changes to all of the Moves/Abilities in each category, in a way that the new versions are distinct from each other. The changes may be simple, like "Insomnia now also prevents volatile status effects, while Vital Spirit also prevents attack from being lowered", or more drastic changes, like turning Barrier into a physical attack, Shelter into a recovery move and Acid Armor into a pivoting move, while keeping Iron Defense intact. I'm uncertain whether it is the best move to require one of the Moves/Abilties to keep all of its original effects (in this example, either Keen Eye or Illuminate would need to continue preventing accuracy from being lowered, even if it is just one of its multiple effects).
As most things in this suggestion, this is open to change, but, initially, users would be completely free to redistribute their Moves/Abilities - for example, if I changed Vital Spirit's effect completely, I could give it to Pokémon who didn't previously have it, and give Insomnia to some of the Pokémon that previously had Vital Spirit, so they continue being immune to sleep.
The idea of the pet mod is to remove any "duplicates", but I would be willing to expand to things that are, at least conventionally, "worse" versions of others, like Withdraw and Iron Defense, or moves that work as weaker versions of others, like Ember. I would like any kind of suggestion or feedback, and to know if there's any interest in the idea so it can become a pet mod, or, of course, to know if there's one that does that already, that I overlooked. Don't want to duplicate a pet mod that tries to get rid of duplicates.
As for the name, I'd like something to do with Cacophony - both a reference to the scrapped ability that functions identically to Soundproof, and as a play on sounds, since the pet mod's whole idea is to get rid of "echoes" and the such. Am open to suggestions on any front regarding this, so hit me up and thanks for the attention!

Note: this is copy-pasted straight from my submission draft.

:porygon: Dex Infinite (Random Battle) :porygon:

The Concept: Every other tier, like ever, has had a set number of Pokemon that can exist. But why do that when you can create unique Pokemon every game you play?

Explanation: When you start a game of Dex Infinite Random Battle, the team generation will create a Pokemon with a completely unique name and stat spread. These Pokemon will then have types, moves, items, and abilities assigned to them (more on that below.)

How does one contribute to this concept?

An array of moves/items/abilities must be assigned to each Pokemon - we can't create infinite of those. Submissions will create the pools of available elements to assign to these Pokemon, (possibly including custom elements).

How would it work?

Once a Pokemon's stat spread is determined, an algorithm will determine best it's role (Bulky Attacker, Setup Sweeper, etc.) From there, it will generate semi-random moves that complement its typing and role, and an Item to benefit that. Lastly, an Ability will be chosen.

As a balancing mechanic, Abilities and moves chosen for this pool should be relatively balanced with each other (i.e. all recovery moves in the pool should heal the same amount, there shouldn't be a 40 BP move for one type and a 110 BP for another (looking at you, Poltergeist), or a 55 BP physical move for one type, but a 70 BP special variant. Yes, there is some variance in the base game, but they should be close to each other.)

Pet Mod name: National Dex Hackmons

Pet Mod Premise: Gen9 hackmons but everything ever added to pokemon (that is able to be) is available, with one rule, ONE Emax max.

Explanation: it's lowk in the name lmao, basically National Dex Hackmons, one Emax with Zmoves, Mega, Tera (except on Emax)
D/Gmax and the gems, once i fully finish the code for it i will edit this with the challenge code attached,

PS! (reference haha) if this isn't the right place to post, don't ban me, I was directed here
From what I'm aware this is a Solomod, i think it would make more sense to post this on the Solomods Megathread

Oh idk what Solomod is, ty

Six Degrees
Pet Mod Name: Six Degrees
Pet Mod Concept: A Pet Mod where everyone collaboratively makes a fakemon, one step at a time (name, typing, movepool, abilties, stats, finalization). But, the twist is that you only know what the previous step of the fakemon was (eg: whoever's doing the abilities only gets to see the movepool, but not the typing or name).
Each slate goes in the following order:

Signing Up
People sign up to join in for the slate, signups would max-out at 6 people. It would be best if each slate had exactly 6 people, but it should be fine if there are less - if there are less then we could low the number of fakemon made/give certain people double roles. If I find that there are a lot of people who want to signup, then maybe I could alter it slightly so more people could be included (more fakemon being made, more roles being added, etc)

Creating Fakemon
These 6 people would be randomly assigned a role in making each fakemon. Since there's 6 fakemon per slate, 6 roles, and 6 people (hopefully), every player should get the chance to do all of the roles. So this is most likely the most difficult and annoying bit, but all players would be required to have discord and also have DMs enabled. I, or a co-host if anyone requests to become one, would DM them saying what they need to submit, as well as the submission before theirs. They would then DM back with their submission for that fakemon. This continues until the final part of the process, when the fakemon is fully finished. Once they are all finished, the fakemon are complete and ready for voting. Here's an overview of each role.

1: Name, This is at the start of the chain and is rather self-explanatory, Pick a name for the fakemon to have.
2: Typing, Pick 1-2 typings to give to the pokemon, you get to see what the Name is.
3: Movepool, Pick a pool of moves to give to the pokemon, you get to see what the typing is.
4: Abilities, Pick 1-3 abilities to give to the pokemon, you get to see what the movepool is.
5: Stats, Pick the pokemon's 6 stats (HP/Atk/Def/SpAtk/SpDef/Spd), you get to see what the abilities are.
6: Finalization, This is a special one, you get to see the entire fakemon (name, typing, movepool, abilities and stats), and you can make small edits to it. These can't change the pokemon drastically, but you can make small changes to it. This also includes certain flavour, such as an appearance and dex entry to tie it together.

Voting
Once all fakemon are done, their finished versions will be revealed and people can now vote for which ones will enter the pet mod permanently. You can vote for up to three pokemon (it is encouraged to vote for 3), but you must pick one to be your top vote, which gives 2 points. A regular vote gives 1 point. Once all votes are done, the points are tallied and the top 3 get added in. If there is a tie, then whichever pokemon accumulated all its votes first wins.
Miscellaneous: Custom elements can be allowed as long as they are reasonable and not difficult to code. Also, all players are unfortunately required to have a discord account, I couldn't think of another method.
I hate to say it but this basically already existed this gen, it was called Beartic Phone.

This is why PetMod submissions should always start in the discussion thread before being submitted here.

Name: Blindsided: Only Up
Concept
: A Pet Mod where everyone submits exactly ONE Pokemon blindly, with the tier starting out very unbalanced. The only way the players can fix it being to freely buff each Pokemon.
Explanation: At the start, everyone would submit a certain number of Fakemon, anywhere from 1 to like 4 or 5 depending on whatever gets us between around 40 and 60 in total. In case you're too new to know what Blindsided is, basically everyone gets to submit a certain amount of Pokemon and nobody can communicate or see others' mons until submissions are closed. I would prefer if everyone were to try and keep the tier to a pretty low power level if possible for the first slate, although of course it should still be pretty obviously unbalanced. I'm still going to be sure people don't submit anything that feels too anti-concept like Wonder Guard that's clearly too polarizing to work with the tier's idea.

After this, no Pokemon can get banned, and every following slate would be letting users buff other mons. Type changes, ability additions, movepool additions, and stat additions, but no movepool removals or stat reductions. Type changes especially would be looked at with some level of scrutiny - you can TECHNICALLY argue that changing a Pokemon from Electric/Grass to Electric/Ice would boost its offensive presence. But if the meta is especially hazard-ridden, or if removing Grass deletes some important defensive utility, then there would be an argument that this is a nerf and the sub would not be allowed. Likewise, the opposite could also be true since changing an Electric/Ice to Electric/Grass may not worsen its matchup spread in a given meta and might make it more resilient to chip damage.

To make them more distinct from the rest, I will be forcing users to submit Pokemon with exactly ONE ability, and I will not be allowing people to swap out abilities from Pokemon. People will need to be a lot more careful with both the ability they start with and the ones they end up giving a Pokemon down the line since there will be a finite number of abilities you can give to a Pokemon (the cap is 3, counting the starting one). This is something I may go back on if people don't like this idea. I think it'll be interesting though since you'll want to be careful about the second ability you give a Pokemon, making sure it's not too strong so there's still room for an """ability change""" down the line.

The tier will end slates when there are a number of viable playstyles and there aren't any Pokemon that would be banned by standard Smogon tiering. If a Pokemon has too much usage, or if a Pokemon ends up feeling too overpowering on the teams it fits, then slates will keep going. If it doesn't last especially long then it's entirely possible for us to basically rerun it by abandoning the previous round of Fakemon and having everyone get a new set.

The point of this Pet Mod would be both for the more unique submission process and as kind of a case study that nerfs are important to a game's balance. There's a talking point in some other games' communities where you should only buff things and never nerf them since it'd improve the game feel. Even though that game feel argument doesn't apply to Pokemon, I think it'll be interesting to see just how badly the tier ends up getting power crept compared to where it started, as well as the corners we may end up walking ourselves into with this mentality.

Questions:
  • I kinda just attached Blindsided to the idea of "a tier with only buffs" since I know how unbalanced those have been in the past. Would there be a more interesting idea I can run with this instead of Blindsided's?
  • Should I give any kind of power to people who seem to understand the meta better? For example, would it make sense to let a person who wins a roomtour for a certain slate work as a tier's leader to allow or veto certain buff submissions?
  • How do we like the idea I had with abilities?
  • What should the rules be about custom elements? I don't really know the community's opinion on those these days LOL
  • Each slate technically isn't too different from the last. Is this a problem? If so, how could I address it?

Idea for a pet mod I had today
Name: Suggestions Box :gimmighoul:
Concept: Fakemon micrometa where slate prompts are randomly chosed from user suggestions
Explanation: In simplest terms this mod is basically just a combination of Fakemon Frontier and Secret Santa - At the beginning of a slate, users will have 1-2 days to submit a prompt with up to 2 restrictions (e.g. must be a certain type combo, must be able to viably run an ability/move combo, must have a specific base stat value/BST). Then 3 of these prompts will be randomly chosen and used for the slate's restriction. Each user will then make a submission for each of the prompts. Any prompts that were not randomly chosen are kept in the pool and may be selected in future slates.

I have multiple versions of the same pet mod idea and I don't know which one is best

Pet Mod Name: Chopping Block
Pet Mod Concept: Everyone subs a fakemon, which then gets picked apart and turned into new fakemon
Explanation: So each slate takes place in 2 parts, in part 1 people sub fakemon, in part 2 the fakemon have all their traits put into pools for everyone to choose from to make new fakemon.
Example:
PART 1 SUB

Name: [unnamed fakemon]
Typing:
Normal.png
Ice.png

Abilities: Own Tempo / Torrent / Queenly Majesty
Stats: 76/54/78/123/104/97 (532)
Movepool: Aurora Veil, Circle Throw, Confide, Counter, Decorate, Dive, Dragon Rush, Drain Punch, Encore, Fiery Wrath, Freezing Glare, Fusion Flare, Grass Pledge, Happy Hour, Heat Crash, Ice Burn, Incinerate, Mirror Coat, Muddy Water, Order Up, Poison Tail, Psyshock, Spiky Shield, Syrup Bomb, Tailwind, Temper Flare, Thunderbolt, Tidy Up, Toxic Thread, Triple Arrows
Flavour: blah blah blah
Role: blah blah blah
of course an actual sub would be more coherent, I just randomized this pokemon to be a very quick example

So now all these traits are put into pools
Typing Combos:
Normal.png
Ice.png
, blah blah blah
Abilty Pool: Own Tempo, Torrent, Queenly Majesty, blah blah blah
HP Stat: 76, blah blah blah
[etc etc for each stat]
Pool Of Moves: Aurora Veil, Circle Throw, Confide, Counter, Decorate, Dive, Dragon Rush, Drain Punch, Encore, Fiery Wrath, Freezing Glare, Fusion Flare, Grass Pledge, Happy Hour, Heat Crash, Ice Burn, Incinerate, Mirror Coat, Muddy Water, Order Up, Poison Tail, Psyshock, Spiky Shield, Syrup Bomb, Tailwind, Temper Flare, Thunderbolt, Tidy Up, Toxic Thread, Triple Arrows, blah blah blah

And in part two you mix 'n' match these traits to create coherent fakemon!
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are allowed

Pet Mod Name: Chopping Block
Pet Mod Concept: Everyone subs existing pokemon, which are picked apart and turned into new fakemon
Explanation: Same as the above format but with existing pokemon instead of fakemon
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are not allowed

Pet Mod Name: Chopping Block
Pet Mod Concept: The council chooses existing pokemon for each slate, which get picked apart and turned into new fakemon
Explanation: Same as the above format but with existing pokemon instead of fakemon, and there is no part 1 as the pokemon are already chosen
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are not allowed

Pet Mod Name: Chopping Block
Pet Mod Concept: A set of typing combos, abilities, moves and stats are randomly chosen (using the ps! /rand command), then the submitters take those traits to create fakemon
Explanation: yeah it's like the above format but part 1 doesn't exist, instead the traits are already chosen
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are not allowed

Miscellaneous: Custom elements are allowed
Methinks the first one works best, since there is a sense of randomness by players’ differing inputs, and simultaneously allows stuff like Gravity-setting Ability, some viable Electric-type physical moves (better than Supercell Slam or at least more consistent and less punishing), and variations of interesting moves such as Focus Punch, though a limit of one Custom Element per input submission - and those allowing Custom Elememt to be resubbed - would help avoiding things getting too bloated in new elements.

Already posted about this in the main submission thread but i would love to get some feedback if people think this is workable and if anyone would be willing to help with it:
:Rayquaza-Mega:National Dex Everything Goes:Rayquaza-Mega::
The basic idea is to create a format akin to National Dex Anything Goes that more people can have fun playing.

Slate 1 would consist of first multiple polls to decide which mechanics/items from previous generations should be included in this.
  • Berserk Gene
  • Non-Normal Gems
  • Mega Evolution
  • Z-Moves
  • Dyna/Gigantamax
  • Terastallization
and then some further polls on how the different generational gimmicks would interact if necessary.
Also there could be a poll to determine if moves that were introduced after the removal of Assist should be callable by it, but I'm tempted to just make all the moves that clearly fit into a category of previously uncallable moves and Revival Blessing not callable just to remove the Abillity of people to ruin the format before it starts.

Further Slates would then consist of redesigning existing Pokemon that are currently unviable for AG/EG to fill Metagame niches dictated by the Slate. The redesign would consist of changing a Pokemons moves, abilities, base stats and even typing without any custom elements in a way that still feels fitting with their base design.

Please tell me if you can think of anymore removed elements that you think warrant a discussion on if and how they should be implemented in this.

Ok I have a new pet mod idea which is somewhat inspired by this one

:sv/basculegion:
Bloodline
Pet Mod Name: Bloodline
Pet Mod Concept: A set of donor fakemon are submitted, who are then used to create new reciever fakemon. The reciever fakemon must have one of its donors on the team with it.
Explanation: During a Slate 0, everyone submits 1-3 fakemon, who are the donors. People would vote for the top 10 donors, who are the starting donors. Every other slate (slate 2, slate 4, slate 6, etc) people can submit a new donor, on top of their regular sub. Only one donor can be voted in for these slates. Donors are special, because their traits (typings, abilties, hp stat, attack stat, defense stat, special attack stat, special defense stat, speed stat, moves) are added into a pool, which all other pokemon draw from. These pokemon are the 'recievers'. In order to use a reciever, it must have at least one donor on the team, which it draws at least one trait from. (also note that donors can contribute both of their typings, or only one, you can have multiple donors contribute to one type combo).
Ok, lets say we have 5 donors: Blastoise, Charizard, Venusaur, Raichu and Machamp (do note in the pet mod these would be custom fakemon, these are just examples). I could make a mon which looked something like this very quick example:

Name: [unnamed fakemon]
Typing: Flying/Electric (Flying from charizard, electric from raichu)
Abilities: Guts / Lighting Rod (guts from machamp, lightning rod from raichu)
Stats: 78/130/55/90/85/110 (548) (HP from charizard, ATK from machamp, DEF from raichu, spATK from Raichu, spDEF from charizard, SPD from Raichu)
Movepool: Volt Tackle, Acrobatics, Dual Wingbeat, Volt Switch, Trailblaze, etc etc (moves from raichu and charizard)
Flavour: blah blah blah
Role: blah blah blah

so this pokemon would require at least one of the following on the team: Charizard, Machamp, or Raichu. (you could still put blastoise or venusaur on the team, you'd just need charizard, machamp or raichu as well). However the big part is that, if you want a diverse team of six, all the pokemon will draw from different donors, so you gotta balance the team around that.
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are allowed.

:samurott: Oops, all Starters! (A Micrometa) :serperior:
Brought to you by the creators of Mix and Mega: Limited Supply

Me and PQRDG passed a couple ideas, so I'm just throwing them all here.

Idea 1: Fakemon.
Each slate, create a trio of Pokemon evolutionary chains that follow the traditional Starter package (Fire, Water, Grass primary typing, two Abilities: Blaze, Torrent, or Overgrow, plus one relevant Hidden Ability, and close BSTs to each other).

Idea 2: Improving Starters
Start with all base Starters, then each slate, slightly modify them to fill more precise niches to give every mon a purpose.

Idea 3: Modern Starters
Start with the base Starters, then add pre-existing Pokemon that follow the Starter principle (defined above) to fill out the Pokedex. This can potentially require the added trios to come from the gen.

Some questions:
Which idea has the most potential?
What can be tweaked about them to make them more appealing?
How can we bend the concept of a "starter" to allow more diversity?
Which would you be most excited to see?

:ss/delibird: Secret Santa: The Pet Mod :ss/delibird:

Similar to the last iteration of the mod, people can submit a wishlist for a fakemon they want. After the wishlists were submitted, they are randomly distributed between the submitters. However, unlike last time, the slates will have themes or directions when it comes to the submissions. This may raise a few red flags and might defeat the purpose of the mod, but this is to give everyone similar challenges when creating the fakemons. Wishlists will be done via Google Polls (as if I didn't have enough on there) and fakemons will be created on Discord, which is now mandetory if you want to submit something. This is mainly so that I have a good overlook on the entire process of everything and everyone.

All submitters submit their wishlist on Google Polls. Let's say that the theme of the slate is a "Powerful ability and move combination".

Person A: Wants a Technician + Storm Throw Pokemon

Person B: Wants a custom ability that works well with wind based attacks

Person C: Wants a Sniper + Wicked Blow/Surging Strikes Pokemon that has no STABs on that move(s)

Person D: Wants a combination of two status-related abilities (Toxic Boost and Quick Feet for example) to go alongside with non-STAB Facade

Person E: Wants a Toxic Chain pokemon with STAB multihit moves

Now after everyone has submitted their wishlist, I randomly distributed them.

Person A gets the wishlist of Person D's wishlist, Person B gets Person C's wishlist, Person C gets Person E's wishlist, Person D gets Person A's wishlist and Person gets Person B's wishlist. These people now create fakemons based on the wishlists. After a certain amount of time, these fakemons will be posted on the thread revealing who submitted the wishlist and who made the fakemon for it.

Some other thing that I wanted to mention is that custom elements are allowed and they can be part of the wishlist or fakemon creation. This mod is Gen 9 so dexit exists. However, for the sake of variety, I will allow to create clones of dexit moves.

I plan for submissions to last 3-4 and creating fakemons to last 5-7 days, although this phase ends earlier when all fakemons are done.

Not sure if this would count as a Pet Mod, but I'll go ahead and put it here.

Pet Mod Concept: A Pet Mod where a select amount of the highest-usage Pokemon (and maybe items as well?) are removed from the format entirely. At the beginning of the mod, a tournament is created, in which the Pokemon that were used the most in THAT tournament are removed from the format, and the cycle repeats. This was mainly inspired by Farfa's Last Card Standing series, though maybe this mod would work better with a different name (eg. Sudden Death?)
Explanation: At the start of the mod, the top Pokemon in usage are banned from the metagame. We're going to be using either SV OU or SV National Dex as our starting point. I have yet to decide how many Pokemon get removed at the start of the meta, though I'm thinking 5-20 Pokemon to start off with depending on the metagame chosen. Assuming we're eliminating the Top 10, here are the most used Pokemon from May 2026:
:great-tusk: Great Tusk
:kingambit: Kingambit
:gholdengo: Gholdengo
:dragonite: Dragonite
:iron-valiant: Iron Valiant
:dragapult: Dragapult
:ogerpon-wellspring: Ogerpon-Wellspring
:gliscor: Gliscor
:corviknight: Corviknight
:zamazenta: Zamazenta
:landorus-therian: Landorus-Therian
:great-tusk: Great Tusk
:gholdengo: Gholdengo
:alomomola: Alomomola
:ferrothorn: Ferrothorn
:kingambit: Kingambit
:garchomp: Garchomp
:gliscor: Gliscor
:corviknight: Corviknight
:volcarona: Volcarona
(Note: Megas of the aforementioned Pokemon will also be banned if they have any, if the SV Natdex format is chosen)
From there, the mod will have a quick discussion and playtesting phase, mainly to check for any broken Pokemon that may also need to be banned, and for people to get a grasp of what the new meta will be like.
Once metagame discussion is complete, a double-elimination bracket tournament will be opened to determine the usage rates for the next metagame. Those usage rates will be used to remove the most-used Pokemon in the next meta, and so on and so forth. Additionally, the winners of each tournament can choose to ban an additional Pokemon (and maybe an item?) from the format.
Miscellaneous: Since there might be quite a bit of community opinion over what goes and what doesn't, here's a few questions for how this'll play out:
  • What format should the metagame be based around? OU? National Dex? Maybe even a completely different format?
  • Should there be any additional bans beside Pokemon? If so, what could be banned? Items are the main choice, though I'm not sure if items should also be procedurally banned as time goes on.
  • How many Pokemon should be banned on the first wave? Would thinning out more Pokemon over time lead to a more unique meta?
  • Should there be any other measures taken as to make sure that certain playstyles aren't too overbearing on the metagame?
