Pokémon GO

Between this and the Keldeo shiny added to Home, can we PLEASE get a rerun of Keldeo in Go now (shiny or not)? Relevance aside it's one of the longest standing absences at this point from the game that has been introduced (i.e. excluding undebuted mons) and doesn't have red-tape/brand-synergy obstacles to reappearing (see the M1 Remake Clones or Detective Pikachu)

It's very odd how it's the only Unova pokemon that's not been announced in any capacity. All the legends are accounted for, Victini is part of the paid pass, Shiny Meloetta as the new ticket, Genesect will be part of the raids/rewards just like the legends....

maybe Keldeo will be part of the normal research?

Was Keldeo only payblock ?

Yes, it was a ticketed research event a couple of years ago.

I'd be surprised if it didn't show up in some form during Unova Tour, even though they haven't announced it yet.

Not very surprised (this is Niantic after all), but surprised.

Despite how on-the-face disappointing it was of Niantic to do a raid day for a Pokemon which can't be shiny, and despite me not getting a single good one, I had the most enjoyable time with today's Hoopa raid event. I'm stuck out in the countryside atm so was a little apprehensive about the ability of my two accounts to duo each raid, but I sprayed invites at random and nearly every time at least one person joined so none of them were tremendously difficult. And surprisingly, it was actually really easy to catch! I noticed that after a Golden Razz berry the catch circle turned a distinctly orange colour - barely any of them took more than three attempts to catch. Didn't lose a single one.

My crackpot theory based on today is that shiny Hoopa will be the eventual reward for a complete L:ZA dex on Home. That way, Niantic can get away with not releasing shiny Hoopa for 2026's Kalos tour - they'll probably have it in raids but with Hyperspace Fury - and then eventually drop the shiny in another raid day in three or four years. Diancie seems much more likely to be the Kalos Tour shiny mythical release.

On the raid thing, in my experience if the Raid Day is for something with moderate value (Shiny odds, or just a rare/hard-to-perfect Pokemon), Remotes turn out more success than usual since people in other time zones often want to shoot as many shots as they can. In Hoopa's case, since Mythicals can't be traded and it remains an "event exclusive" species that can't even be injected like some old Gen events, both Hundo Collectors and Home collectors would want the shots, plus paranoid people like me who want XL's in case it gets good later. Also I may have been in one of those invited raids to test my Bugs.

Made a dumb meme

Sad day for anyone who thought Keldeo might be the eventual reward at the end of the seasonal research. Free possibly-shiny Metagross and a raid pass is better than the usual underwhelming seasonal research finales, though, no complaints on that score.

I'm not at the EUIC as was originally planned few months ago. Instead we went to Puerto Rico's Special Event. I didn't do so well as I didn't have an answer to few opponents that were using the likes of Annihilape, Shadow Drapion and especially Galarian Corsola as that thing is like a tank and can still dish it out super effectively. I did try to sell my spectator badge on X but got no buyers, am sure some might've wanted it for free though. I think at this point I can email the QR code for whomever wants to get in on these last days.

Well, looks like I was wrong. Niantic gonna Niantic

Little bit annoyed that Serperior, Emboar and Samurott don't get their Hyper Beam clones when evolved, but at least these other LMs have been relatively straightforward to obtain so far!

They might announce it tomorrow, but the next season logo was just datamined along with a special background, basically confirming an upcoming Kubfu-centred season:

I do not know if this is the right place to place this request but can anyone gift me the Dazzling Aria shiny Meloetta research quest that is $4.99? I am currently in India for 6 months and I am leaving in April and I did not want to risk losing my wallet or debit card so I foolishly did not bring them nor record their details. I could not have predicted this event would be released. If someone could gift me this event I would be so happy. I would do them any one Pokémon favor like breed them a competitive shiny of their choice for example. My in game name is Jairaam483711 My FC is 514214162944. Thank you so much in advance.

Go Fest details have dropped: Crowned Form Zacian and Zamazenta will be in raids, with Volcanion being the featured mythical.

The logo was leaked a few days before this and for once it was actually ambiguous - the gears also evoked Magearna, but the red/blue colour scheme evoked Volcanion as well as the dogs.

Little disappointed that Volcanion won't be a raidable mon - maybe they only want one mythical per region to be raidable and Hoopa's already taken that spot for Kalos. At least they're releasing it though - it was the only Kalos species yet to debut apart from Honedge and presumably there'll be a dedicated Kalos tour next year. Then again, being part of a generation's roster isn't a guarantee of inclusion, as we've just had demonstrated with Keldeo's lack of presence in the Unova tour. But who knows if LZA will bring any new species to the table they can include.

Also, I'm pretty sure that just about every Kalos species in the game currently can be shiny now? Minus the two regionals. Which makes it all the more funny Honedge is still missing. Seriously, what are they thinking.

Speaking of missing things, I just remembered that Marshadow hasn't had a free release yet. Would be nice if that was sometime soon, Shaymin didn't arrive until the following April so hopefully it'll be in the next few weeks.

I assume the "problem" is with Aegislash and rather than wanting to just have it so you're only ever in one form, they want the swap in battle. Morpeko was the first time they experimented with this so I assume that was the main hang up. I think the master assets got updated alongside other stuff coming out now, so wouldn't surprise me if it was happening this year

I also assume this is why Mimikyu, Zen Mode Darmanitan and Piourette Meloetta didn't happen yet. Still ironing out how they want these things to work mechanically.

Aegislash probably presents a huge issue in PvP because its stats changing will affect the CP balance, so a 1500 CP Shield form might become like 2300 CP Sword form, whic breaks their rules even if the glassiness may or may not make it "fine" in play.

Shiny Fuecoco on my birthday sounded too good to be true. Indeed, it was such an awful day over here I could genuinely not leave the house and wasted all incenses to get just 3 on more than 70 captures. Then I messed up the OT name when transferring them to Home. I downloaded fhe app again just for this. Niantic, 3 hours is not a day...

I will try again with Totodile so I can grab one for ZA, but it's bothering me beyond belief I missed such a golden opportunity- a research day on your birthday? That's probably never happening again ever. (If anyone reading this has a shiny low level shiny Fuecoco still in Go and access to a Spanish Home account please tell me asap, I will trade anything on the Switch for it)

Did some GMax Kanto starters today and yesterday. Admittedly when you have a group to play with it is fun to just shoot-the-shit while plowing through them, much like Raids, and I got a couple good ones plus Shinies and spares I could trade later for friends who missed out (even traded a G-Gengar today with a Lucky Friend). This feature is so close to being a fun one, if they could just fix the economy around Particles and the item drops (Bosses take Golden Razz luck to catch despite dropping next to none), plus accommodate remotes or Rural players a bit better. If not remote invites, the Flare System for Gyms on Campfire on Max Spots would be a start.

If it's of any help, maybe you could do the Daily Research which has a couple more encounters. I got a shiny from one of the tasks, and you received it on your Birthday so maybe the luck persists?

This just showed up on my timeline. The algorithm knows me far too well... interesting watch though
I definitely agree on the mega focus, but I think that'll be the primary way they handle filling out the biomes. Which will be lame but the best way to handle it, alongside a bunch of mega energy tasks I assume as well as a heavy raid rotation. Rerunning mega ray, the primals and the mega lati also would make a lot of sense as "big" pulls.

Surprised he didn't mention trying to use Zygarde was a tentpole. Currently you get one, as part of the research, so putting it in raids where it can be shiny, have some signature move(s), and probably get you a chunk of zygarde cells outside of routes seems like an easy "pull". And that's before accounting for them probably giving it a new form (or more!) in Z-A.

my "we're not changing anything we've talked a lot with the new owners" t-shirt is getting a lot of questions answered by the shirt

While Scopely is more of a gaming company, my main concern is more things may get monetized than before making it harder for free to play players. We'll see.

Monopoly Go, the game I which I understand is a flagship of Scopely, is the pinnacle of shlocky hoodwink skinner-box gambling predatory monetization mobile game horseshit. It's got comparable appeal to whatever sits at the center of a venn-diagram containing a polished casino slot machine, a guy trying to install a tap on your bank account who you have to manually stop every day, and the kind of person who exists at periphery of your life and shares some friends with you but constantly tries to goad your friends into hating you for some sick satisfaction only they can understand. It's a piece of software that I would only not call worthless because I'd sooner say it has negative worth than try to claim it's just a silly harmless game like regular Monopoly can be, (the game is also not like the boardgame Monopoly if you were unaware) and with the way it came as an automatic background install on several phone model / carrier updates around it's release, they're really not making it a stretch to compare it to an engineered virus that aims to infect people vulnerable to gambling addictions. At least you could wipe your ass with a scratcher.

For Pokemon Go, I don't know precisely what this entails. I might even expect flashy new big budget advertising for the game to ramp appeal. But definitely expect something to stink.
