I would like to see a RS remake even though they left a bad taste in my mouth. I guess I'm the only person who hated Dive the concept was great but not used enough/to it's fullest potential(I wanna look for buried treasure!), then again I hate all 1-2 use HMs, here's to you Whirlpool and Cut.

I hope we never see RSE remakes. Or at least not anytime soon. I hate that these games aren't even that old, still have connectivity to this gen and people want to see them remade.

It feels way to soon and I would rather see GF work on a companion series rather than "make 3 gen 5 games and then remakes".
They're getting up there in age. About 8 years now (Japan; 7 years elsewhere).

For reference FRLG came out 8 years after RG, and 6 years after those went stateside. HGSS was 10.

And the compatibility is slowly being phased out for a while now, much less two years from now.

Did age better then either 1st or 2nd gens though

8 years isn't old at all. The industry (and Nintendo especially) likes to re-release games way too often. OoT has been released a half a dozen times and now it's getting a 3DS remake. I'm not really a fan of those decisions.

How is the compatibility being phased out? I can stick RSE in my DS and transfer my pokemon to DP or HGSS. Compatibilty hasn't gone anywhere. What did you think I was referring to?

DSi doesn't have the slot. Neither will the 3DS.
It's here for now, sure, thanks to the DS Lite. But it's going to go away once the 3DS takes hold.

So were you against the FRLG & HGSS remakes, then?
By the time we'll probably get RS remakes, it will be 9 or 10 years after release.
Which, uh, is a long time? Frankly I don't see how 8 years isn't a long time.
Lots of things happen in even a year, much less 8, regardless of video games or real life.

edit: Also Ocarina of Time?
The 3DS will be the first time it's remade.
There was the Zelda pack. But that was a preoder bonus; the Master Quest were basically the scrapped hard mode dungeons meant for when you used Ocarina on the failed 64DD.
Virtual Console's whole point is releasing older games for you to play.

So that's three times, one of which will be an updated remake.

No, I wasn't against the gen I & II remakes because those games had been cut off from the rest. RSE is and will still be able to connect to every gen. RSE to DP and then DP to BW.

To me, 8 years isn't old when it comes to the video game industry. If someone told me Nintendo wanted to remake melee I would say "what?" and that game is going on 10 years.

^If RSE remakes are indeed made within the next two years, it will have been a good while since thier original debut. The DS and DSLite are getting up there in age, having been essentially replaced by the DSi and now the 3DS, so as far as GF is concerned, connectivity is fading away since the two models with the dual slot feature have faded away. Do you really want to have to Pal Park to DPPtHGSS, 6 pokemon at a time, and then take a second step just to get them in B/W? No thanks.

Those factors aside, remakes = money. That's the bottom line, and is what GF/Nintendo will be looking at.

The other issue is getting those old games.

You can't go out and buy Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald in any stores anymore. Compatibility may still exist in an extremely convoluted way (we don't know if there will even be a Pal Park in Isshu, so to get your third gen Pokémon to 5th Gen, they'll still need to make a stop-over in the 4th Gen), but that doesn't matter for new fans who didn't have a chance to enjoy the Hoenn games when they came out. If I just got into Pokémon now, the only games I could get reasonably are Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. The third-gen games can't be found, and even if you go get a used copy at GameStop or something, you're going to be paying close to what they were worth new. And that's money Nintendo never even gets to see.

So there are lots of reasons to remake a 10-year old game. Especially ones as good as Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, and yes, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

You don't even need to connect though. Isn't it possible to obtain every Pokemon with D/P/Pt/HG/SS alone?

Guys this thread is about B&W. It even says in the OP to keep speculation to a minimum. This isn't really the place to discuss the possibility of RSE remakes. :/

^Lol looks like the info starvation has gotten the better of us.

That said, RSE remakes could have some merit to BW because of potential move tutors. 4th gen included an unprecedented amount of tutor moves, which were originally started in FRLG and Emerald, IIRC. If the old Emerald tutors return and 4th gen tutor moves remain, then BW could have either no tutors at all, or completely new moves to choose from (along with an additional 50 TMs, since 4th gen compatability likely means being able to trade over old TMs).

Well that is currently the only way to get a few of the 51+ TMs, and it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem. 150 TMs might get to be a bit much, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did prevent this. Whether they stay at 100 or go back to 50 would be a different story.

Speaking of transfering items, will there ever be any way to trade just items? It kinda sucks that you have to go through the whole pokemon trade sequence just for an Earthquake TM.

That seems like a great idea to be honest. The high link/C-gear feature or whatever it is already allows you to help other players with items and such...I don't see why they couldn't just implement item trading into single player mode.

Shell blade sounds fitting for Mijumaru. Who knows, maybe Pokabu might have something related to the Pokemon that is also a blade. I mean, Shell blade and Leaf blade exist, so why not something for Pokabu?

That'd drastically alter Wifi battles... for the worse. A lot of TM's are only available once in the game, so you need to trade from other games to get them.

Correct. If the TM trade circulation were to close, then that would mean that players will starve from loss of the TM's needed for teaching their Pokemon powerful moves.

...which is the reason why I always buy both games. (Well, it'll be 3 games in this case because I'll also be getting an extra White for my girlfriend)

There was some hint about limitations on the Pokemon you can transfer to BW, so its quite possible you won't be able to transfer the old TMs over. My big concern is the (highly unlikely) possibility that they'll prevent the trading of RNGed Pokemon somehow... or possibly recalculate IVs after the transfer making all of my hard work for naught.

*goes back to RNGing for a Jolly Wondercard Jirachi anyway*

Speaking of TM's, GameFreak has a tradition that every generation gets different or more TM's. Who knows what will happen in Black and White. They could either add or replace a certain number of TM's.

Could someone give me the link of that interview in which the creator of the game says that at least one of the starters will have an unique type combination?

And charmander used dragon rage.
We all know how Charizard ended up (although it would've been sick as fire/dragon).
I'm sure glad Unknown Tsutaja and I got to go over that one again, although a good water fighting would be BAMF.
Also, that's true about the second use of revenge... No assuming though.
Charizard should have been Fire/Dragon.
The chicken pokemon should have been fire/flying...
damn you gamefreak.
