Pokemon Combination Discussion

A good combination would be Skarmory+Dugtrio+Magnezone. The plan is simple: Send in Skarmory(make sure its holding a Shed Shell) against a Physical attacker. Hopefully, he will send in Magnezone(or Probopass). Send in Dugtrio to absorb a potentially painful Thunderbolt attack, trap it and EQ it. If predicted correctly, he'll send in Skarmory. Now switch to Magnezone and zap it with a Thunderbolt. If you predict right, he should have lost not only his physical wall, but his Skarmory killer as well.

Magnezone is unlikely to Thunderbolt right away due to the Electivire threat. It’s much more likely to Sub or Magnet Rise against a potentially trapped opponent, so should Dugtrio enter the battle it can have it for breakfast with HP Ice/Grass. Your best option then is to bring in your own Magnezone, at which point a long and boring struggle ensues.

I think Gengar,Metagross,Heatran is a good combination. If Metagross is going to get EQed, switch to Gengar and the same for Heatran. A fighting type attack to Heatran switch to Gengar. A fire type attack on Metagross, switch to Heatran. Not to mention all three are good exploders and can explode when finished. Correct me if I'm wrong but i think together they resist every type.

Water and Electric.

Then Rampy 6-0s with Stone Edge/Earthquake. Seriously, think before posting!

Firstly, who uses Rampardos? The answer is hardly no one, secondly maybe instead of insulting my combination idea you should create your own, seeing as this is the thread to do it. Lastly you don't have to be such a jerk, it doesn't make you cool or great to insult someone about a game related topic.

I´ve tried to do a Combinattion of 6 Pokemon and I think they have good synergy:
Gyarados/Electivire/Tangrowth/Swampert/Heatran/Blissey

Gyarados protects everybody for Earthquakes, Megahorns, Fighting and Ice attacks.
Electivire protects everybody for Electric attacks.
Tangrowth protects everybody for Water, Grass and physical attacks.
Swampert protects everybody for Rock attacks.
Heatran protects everybody for Fire and Poison attacks.
Blissey protects everybody for special attacks.

You keep defending and giving him ammo, but you do have a point nobody uses Rampardos,..................................but people do use D-dance T-tar so the basic point is the same

I just can't stand kids with attitudes. But yes your right about DDtar being common and shutting down that combo.

First of all, I am not a kid. I am 20 years old and at University. Secondly, I am not trying to insult anyone. I am just trying to offer some constructive criticism to help you. And thirdly, I have already posted two combo ideas that nobody has critiqued as of yet. I would welcome your opinion with open arms.

Doesn't the Rock Polish/Focus Sash set work fairly well? Not many people use him now, but his popularity may spike if more people hear of this set.

I was merely speculating on your age, due to the way you were acting I assumed that there was no way you were over 15. But since I am unable to prove this and all I have is your word that your are as old as you say you are, I have no reason to doubt you. I didn't recognize that you had posted before hand because I mainly just read the posts, not who posted them.

Its OK, I forgive you. I just want to assure everyone that I am only here to help out and contribute intelligently to discussions.

For a fourth point, anyone who dismisses Rampardos as trash should consider the all-out suicide Choice Band set that could cause quite the stir in the early metagame. I think it goes something like this:
Rampardos @ Choice Band
Adamant - 252 Atk, 92 HP, 164 Spd
~ Head Smash
~ Focus Punch
~ Earthquake
~ filler
On first impressions, you may think this is a reckless and stupid set, and you may be right, but nobody can deny that it is also completely unexpected, and so potentially devastating that it can so easily leave the opponent short of at least one key Pokemon if they mispredict, or worse, not have an answer to it at all. The point of the set is that a fourth move isn’t required at all, as the first three hit everything at least neutrally, and HARD. As a result, NOTHING switches in safely.
Head Smash and Focus Punch both 2HKO Skarm, whilst the former can possibly OHKO if they don’t take care in maxing HP and Defense. Head Smash and Earthquake easily OHKO any Weezing, as well as 2HKO any Bronzong.
The idea is to try and get it in on Blissey, who will almost always switch out, then try and predict what comes out. The EVs give Rampy 358 HP, which allows guaranteed survival with Head Smash should Bliss stay in for whatever reason, and it also has enough Speed to outrun Skarm and others. If you ask me, when looking at the base stat spread, I reckon this is what Gamefreak created it for, then introduced Stone Edge, Rock Polish and Focus Sash to allow the more conventional sweeping alternative.
The question I put forward to all of you is this: what can safely counter this set?
My best effort so far is Focus Sash Empoleon with Aqua Jet. If Head Smash is picked, Empoleon will almost certainly end up in Torrent range, and so can Aqua Jet immediately after to OHKO a weakened Rampardos. If Focus Punch is picked, Focus Sash saves you and then you pick any attack you like without fear of getting hit, allowing you to use a super powerful Surf on the incoming opponent. Earthquake, however, is a little troublesome, as Aqua Jet will now not OHKO in return, and so Empoleon may be forced to carry more speed than I initially intended.
Thoughts!

The Choice Band set won't fly with Rampardos's base Speed. I would guess it's "Rock Polish or bust" with this guy, since I wouldn't see it doing much harm unless you're facing an all-staller team or something.

The point isn't to sweep with this. It is used to put the opponent in a dilemma as to what to switch in.

What if he replaced Zapdos with Skarmory, and Salamence with Levitate Bronzong, or something like that? I haven't checked all of the possible combinations, but it seems to me that both Skarmory and Bronzong could plausibly handle Rampardos without too much hassle.

Rampardos's Mold Breaker allows him to hit Bronzong with Earthquake.

Ah, true, I wasn't factoring that into the formula.

That said, you could always go with Claydol instead - it does get hit by Earthquake, but it only does a little over 50% damage without any Defense or HP EVs (with 252 HP EVs, it will take three hits of Earthquake unless extremely unlucky - it has to max-hit both times - shifting a few into Defense will ensure it requires three hits), and both Rock and Fighting attacks are useless on Claydol. Its own Earthquake will (CORRECTION: OHKO) Rampardos if it doesn't have and Def or HP EVs. Of course, this is all assuming Life Orb isn't on Rampardos, but I'm still looking at other alternatives.

Why would anyone want to use HP and Defense EVs on Rampardos?

Why do you think I didn't bother working out what happens with HP or Defense EVs? Anyway, the point is that Claydol can successfully take out Rampardos, and also has Rapid Spin and Levitate so it works as a spinner (Levitate covers both Spikes and Toxic Spikes, right?), and it's resistant to Stealth Rock, too. It would go well on the team that Maestro is suggesting.

Tyranitar is a bit harder to handle, but then, you would probably choose Skarmory to counter Tyranitar, rather than Claydol, due to the Dark weakness.
