Pokemon Platinum - The definitive thread: Mach 3 (Competitive Discussion)

I seriously doubt Hypnosis accuracy going down and Scizor learning Bullet Punch will regulate Gengar to BL. Even with slightly less accuracy on one of its moves and a new threat, it still has extremely good sp atk, speed, and coverage, plus all those immunities.

Ice Punch Lucario is awesome, now that it can hit Celebi and Gliscor with the same move.

I'd like to confirm that hypnosis is 60% accuracy. Also, as I've been hypnosising stuff in game, it seems like the wake up really fast . . . there might have been a modificatioin there too.

Anyway, I'm going to try to find if Gengar and Alakazam learn vacuum wave or not. Let you guys know in a bit.

Wide Lens increases accuracy by 10% (60 x 1.1 = 66), so yes.

Chou: Didn't the Pokemon in the JPN version of D/P wake up earlier too? I remember TRE mentioning something like that back in the early days of D/P...

a chance of a 60% move hitting twice in a row isn't 30%, it's 36%. l2probability...

I didn't think Nintendo would change that between games in one generation... have they ever done it before?

EDIT: Well... at least the new sub punch gengar will stop pissing me off as much.

So...if the accuracy in Platinum is 60% and in D/P the question are two:

1) Will be possible battle from Platinum vs Pearl?
2)fi it is possible...which will be the accuracy for Hypnosis? 60% or 70%? :S

It is a very stupid situation...Is it possible a bug or something like that?

Damn, well then, when Plat vs. Pearl happens, what is hypnosis's accuracy? Probably 60%?
EDIT: we think on the same level johnnie xD

@Storm, don't know about that, but I have a gengar and a golbat with hypnosis in my party and their hypnosis description says:

"Accuracy: 60%"

So, you don't need to speak japanese to confirm this. Now that I think about it, it's been missing way too often . . . lol

Haha well I didn't know it said that!
I was just pointing out that you have good Japanese and you said it.

maybe I'm hitting on you? ^_^

In exchange for hitting on me, you can trade me your hp ground shaymin (which I suddenly find more attractive lol) when my school finally decided to register my DS on our wireless server. BTW, I can't find a damn bibarrel to save my life. lol I want my HP slave!!

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but I'm sure Weavile is going to get Sucker Punch. Better or worse than Night Slash?
I want Lucario to get Earth Power :S

If it's faster than its threats then Night Slash is better. If it's not, Sucker Punch. Since Weavile is generally faster than its threats I'd say Night Slash.

I was just wondering since it's more powerful, but if the opponent isn't attacking you then it's worthless.

Yep... once your opponent finds out you've got Sucker Punch, he can use that. Although I'd say having Sucker Punch in your move set is always useful no matter what; that move is simply too good, especially with STAB. However as has been said Weavile can't make much use of it.

Why doesn't Altaria get Outrage? F**k Salamence, the only UU dragon (and my favorite UU sweeper) is now the only non-Outrage Dragon as well. Ominous Wind really doesn't solve her lack of raw power....

I guess if people wanna use hypnosis on their team they are going to have to trade all the new moves on platinum to D/P and battle with that cart
