Pokemon Riddle

why do you guys ignore phiddlestick's riddle? i'll repost it to get it more attention:

Every Pokemon has a Docile nature.
All of Phiddle's Pokemon have 30 IVs across the board and no EVs.
All of Sticks' Pokemon have 31 IVs across the board and max HP/Defence EVs.

Battle begin!
Phiddle sent out PorygonZ!
Sticks sent out X!
???

Turn 1:
PorygonZ used Y!
X lost Z% of its health.
It's not very effective.
PorygonZ stole X's Focus Sash!
X used Fissure!
???

Turn Z:
PorygonZ used Hidden Power!
X lost A% of its health.
It's super effective!
X used B!
PorygonZ lost 90% of its health.

Turn 3:
Sticks switched in C!
PorygonZ used Rest!
PorygonZ became healthy!
PorygonZ fell asleep.

Turn 4:
C used Guillotine!
It's a one-hit KO!
PorygonZ lost 100% of its health.
PorygonZ hung on with its Focus Sash!

X = ?
Y = ?
Z = ?
A = ?
B = ?
C = ?

Ok, now that I got my head on straight.

X = Bastiodon
Y = Thief
Z = 2
A = 54%
B = Metal Burst
C = Crawdaunt/Gliscor/Kingler/Pinser

Calcs don't quite match up, but that's the closest I could get. Only Bastiodon resists Thief and has Fissure. Hidden power Water would do 54% max, but to have Metal Burst do 90% it would need to hit 57% (does 85% with the given max). Maybe I'm missing something.

EDIT: Good catch on Hidden Power, and on plugging Z=2 into PorygonZ, tricky bastard >.>

Whoa... lol hahaha I see what you did now. For the longest time I was wondering what that first ??? is because PorygonZ with +1 SpA will be guaranteed OHKO on Bastiodon.

Z = 2 lol
Y is obviously thief.
X has to be Bastiodon as it is the only pokemon that resists dark, is weak to fighting, and can learn fissure.
The first ??? must then be Download, since Porygon2 is KO'd by Guillotine later on so it cannot possibly Trace Sturdy.

+1 Porygon2 (with 30 SpA IV) HP Fighting 70 does 82.76 - 98.08% to the Bastiodon.

Bastiodon must be using Metal Burst to do so much damage to Porygon2. 90% of Porygon2's health is 310 * 0.9 = 279. 279 / 1.5 = 186, which means Porygon2 must have done 186 HP of damage to Bastiodon... which is where I am stuck since 186 HP is only 71% of Bastiodon's health, but the calc in the above paragraph says min of 82.76%...

It seems to me that C can be Gliscor, Gligar, Pinsir, or Kingler as they're all faster than Porygon 2. If it were Porygon Z, it would have had to be Gliscor, but... yah, that one's not certain either.

So in summary:
X = Bastiodon
Y = Thief
Z = 2
A = 71
B = Metal Burst
C = Gliscor / Gligar / Kingler / Pinsir ... or Crawhaunt/Corphish/Krabby holding Scarf.

EDIT: @Veedrock, 30 IV across the board means Hidden Power Fighting.
EDIT2: OHHHHHHHHH my I totally missed the max HP/Def EV thing...
EDIT3: OMG, ok, problem solved then... with max HP... Porygon2 will do 71% with +1 HP Fighting 70. :D

I must say, that was a pretty cool riddle.

Well, I'll admit, I was being a bit misleading. EUM's answer was a good guess because he was very close to being right. You are even closer, but HP Fire and HP Rock can't go on the same Pokemon.
Well, I guess Focus Punch could work against Houndoom's pathetic defense. I guess I didn't think of that because I didn't think anyone would be silly enough to put Focus Punch on Kadabra.

i must say you are still wrong.

you are wrong as well, with a correct solution all calcs match up

All of Sticks' Pokemon have 31 IVs across the board and max HP/Defence EVs.

Battle begin!
Phiddle sent out Porygon2!
Sticks sent out Bastiodon!
Porygon2 traced Bastiodon's Sturdy!

Turn 1:
Porygon2 used Thief!
It's not very effective.
Bastiodon lost 2% of its health.
Porygon2 stole Bastiodon's Focus Sash!
Bastiodon used Fissure!
But it failed!

Turn 2:
Porygon2 used Hidden Power!
It's super effective!
Bastiodon lost 57% of its health.
Bastiodon used Metal Burst!
Porygon2 lost 90% of its health.

Turn 3:
Sticks switched in Pinsir!
Porygon2 used Rest!
Porygon2 became healthy!
Porygon2 fell asleep.

Turn 4:
Pinsir used Guillotine!
It's a one-hit KO!
Porygon2 lost 100% of its health.
Porygon2 hung on with its Focus Sash!

X = Bastiodon
Y = Thief
Z = 2
A = 57
B = Metal Burst
C = Pinsir

The first ??? is Porygon2 tracing Sturdy. Thus, the second ??? is Fissure failing due to Sturdy. Pinsir gets around this with Guillotine through Mold Breaker.

A bit of a latecomer to this thread, but I would like to point out that literally any Pokemon with access to Toxic could be the answer to Diana's riddle on page 3, not merely Jumpluff, because of the existence of the item Quick Claw.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't try making any more of these, how the heck did I forget Quick Claw after being screwed over by it in the Frontier so many times? @_@

Wow, this thread is great! Been looking into here for the past few days.
I think I've found a pretty simple riddle for you guys:

Lv 100, fully evolved, no Ubers, no items, no EV's, maximum IV's.
Find A & X, and the '???' sentences. Every '???' is ONE sentence.

Trainer sent out Gengar!
Trainee sent out Walrein!

Turn 1:

Trainee switched out Walrein!
Trainee sent in A!
Gengar used Explosion!
???

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
A used X!
???
???

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
A lost 31% of it's health!
A used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
???

This one is pretty simple. There should be only one option.
I hope this didn't turn out too easy, I'm not a genious at these kind of stuff =/

A = Quagsire / Golduck both have damp and can do 60% to heatran with mud bomb, so I'll have to think this one through

EDIT: Golduck outspeeds Heatran though, so it must be...

Trainer sent out Gengar!
Trainee sent out Walrein!

Turn 1:

Trainee switched out Walrein!
Trainee sent in Quagsire!
Gengar used Explosion!
Quagsire's Damp prevents Exploding! (or whatever :P)

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
Quagsire used Focus Blast! (it works)
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 40% of its health.

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
Quagsire lost 31% of it's health!
Quagsire used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
Trainer's Heatran fainted!

A = Quagsire / Golduck both have damp and can do 60% to heatran with mud bomb, so I'll have to think this one through
Well, Damp is right, but you didn't figure out X yet :p
You're half way there though, Damp was too easy =/
I'm not saying anything about the pokemon yet.

Edit: to your edit (lol): not there yet... If you check through damage counts, I don't think that will work. If it does, well, congrats.

Hmm, Quagsire does work though. Alright, this is an alternative solution:

Trainer sent out Gengar!
Trainee sent out Walrein!

Turn 1:

Trainee switched out Walrein!
Trainee sent in Politoed!
Gengar used Explosion!
Politoed's Damp prevents Exploding! (or whatever :P)

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
Politoed used Water Pulse! (or Bubblebeam, both work)
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 40% of its health.

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
Politoed lost 31% of it's health!
Politoed used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
Trainer's Heatran fainted!

EDIT: darn diana ;_;

my sentences in bold:

But it failed! (damp)

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
A used Earthquake/Surf!
heatran's shucka/(water resist berry?) berry activates
Heatran loses 40% of it's HP (No Calcs here)

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
A lost 31% of it's health!
A used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
Heatran fainted

I hope this didn't turn out too easy, I'm not a genious at these kind of stuff =/
not much time dedicated to this, sorry about no calcs
Edit: beatern

X isn't any one of those. Maybe there are some answers to this, but I'll throw in a spoiler if it's so: X doesn't deal damage. Beat that :p

EDIT: Are you guys running damage counts?

If it's Quagsire, it could be:

Turn 1:

Trainee switched out Walrein!
Trainee sent in Quagsire!
Gengar used Explosion!
Quagsire's Damp prevents self-destruction!

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
Quagsire used Sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
The sandstorm rages.

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
Quagsire lost 31% of it's health!
Quagsire used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
The sandstorm rages.

Too much stuff it could be.

A must be Quagsire, because that's the only Damp mon that takes 31% from Heatran's Flamethrower. Furthermore, Quagsire's Mud Bomb deals 59.5% minimum to Heatran with Mud Bomb, so that solidifies that. This means that the rest could be any number of things. That Sandstorm thing works. The last ??? could be an Accuracy drop from Mud Bomb. The first 2 could be Swagger's +2 Attack and Confusion. If Quagsire was hurt beforehand, it could be him Resting, and then healing the Rest with Lum/Chesto.

However, I see no solution better than the Sandstorm one.

Hmm, my puzzle didn't end up well...
Things have started to go loco with all of the alternatives, so I'll just post the answer. I'll try to do this better next time.

Turn 1:

Trainee switched out Walrein!
Trainee sent in Politoed!
Gengar used Explosion!
It failed! (Damp)

Turn 2:

Trainer switched out Gengar!
Trainer sent in Heatran!
Politoed used Sunny day!
The sun started to shine! (or whatever...)
The sun continues to shine!

Turn 3:

Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective...
Politoed lost 31% of it's health!
Politoed used Mud Bomb!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 60% of it's health!
The sun continues to shine!

After sunny day, the damage calcs turn out OK, and I thought quagsire will be different. Oh well...
I know nobody will use Sunny day with Politoed (or even use one), but that's a riddle for ya.

Level 100, all EVs are 0, all IVs are 31, no items.

Trainer 1 sent out X!
Trainer 2 sent out Y!

Turn 1:

Y used B!
It doesn't affect X...
X used A!
But it failed!

Turn 2:
Y used Rest!
But it failed!
X used Earthquake!
It doesn't affect Y...

Turn 3:

Y used B!
It doesn't affect X...
X used Return!
It doesn't affect Y...

Turn 4:

Y used Hidden Power!
X lost 40% of its health!
X used A!
???

Turn 5:

Y used B!
It's super-effective!
X lost 60% of its health
X fainted!

Find X and Y (Pokemon), ??? (Move A's effect on that turn), and A and B (moves).

Nice one, had to work this one around a bit but I think I came up with it.

Trainer 1 sent out Smeargle!
Trainer 2 sent out Banette!
Turn 1:
Banette used Shadow Claw!
It doesn't affect Smeargle...
Smeargle used Conversion!
But it failed!
Turn 2:
Banette used Rest!
But it failed!
Smeargle used Earthquake!
It doesn't affect Banette...
Turn 3:
Banette used Shadow Claw!
It doesn't affect Smeargle...
Smeargle used Return!
It doesn't affect Banette...
Turn 4:
Banette used Shadow Claw!
It doesn't affect Smeargle...
Smeargle used Conversion!
Smeargle changed into the Psychic-type!
Turn 5:
Banette used Shadow Claw!
It's super-effective!
Smeargle lost 100% of its health
Smeargle fainted!

X=Smeargle
Y=Banette
A=Conversion
B=Shadow Claw
C=Psychic
???=Smeargle became the Psychic-type!

Edit: crap he changed up his riddle, but I think the answers still work.

Um... Banette doesn't have Levitate, so earthquake would hit, and Conversion converts the user into one of the types in its moveset, so it cannot fail 1st turn and work the 2nd turn (it can work the first turn and fail the 2nd turn though).
