Pet Mod Roulettemons [Finished Mod + Now with Random Battles!]

Horroboon: Nothing noteworthy apart from being a Ghost with Strength Sap. It doesn't have the stats to act as a full offense mon, it doesn't have the moves to be setup, and its bulk isn't good enough to fight the very powerful Pokemon in this meta. Its abilities being meh at best don't help it.

Quickilla: Fast, high HP, high Attack, Fairy/Fighting. Gets High Jump Kick, Photon Geyser, Precipice Blades, Power Whip, EQ, Crunch, Ice Hammer, and interestingly, Glare and Speed Swap. Its high HP doesn't make it unstoppable. Water Bubble seems terrifying with that high Attack stat, until you see it doesn't get any Water moves. However, Water Bubble is still useful for reducing damage from Fire attacks and preventing burns. Also gets Conversion.

Giranium: A somewhat passable defensive typing, but due to how this meta works, almost everything gets either Ground or Fighting coverage. However, Filter and very good bulk helps to patch things up for it. It also has a very high Special Attack stat with some solid coverage, which gives it a fighting chance against many of the Pokemon in this meta. Where this thing gets nasty, though, is Speed Swap. If it steals a high Speed stat, things can snowball out of control, and it has the bulk to where it can probably get at least one off in a match. Also gets Moonlight, so it can patch its wounds.

Demerine: Fast support with a niche immunity to Electric, but Electritar outspeeds it and takes it out easily with Steel STAB. Probably not worth using.

Wintite: Bad defensive typing, nothing notable about its movepool, and two of its abilities likely won't be used. Glacida and Chillvark are both better than this as Ice types.

Bottom line, two of these are definitely worth considering, while the rest don't seem that way to me.

Horroboon is nice. It has above average mixed defenses, a good defensive typing with many utility moves such as Rapid Spin, Strength Sap, Healing Wish & Trick. Plus Fake Out & Foul Play (possibly Scald) for damage dealing utility. One of the best this round. Too bad its abilities do nothing for it.

Quickilla is straight up broken. 152 Attack and 131 Speed, Fairy/Fighting STABs, and conveniently gets both Drain Punch and High Jump Kick which Fighting types aren't guaranteed to get. So far good but not broken right? But it gets an ability with burn immunity and Fire resist. And its other ability makes it immune to Sludge Bomb. And it gets a bunch of high BP coverage moves in Power Whip, Photon Geyser, Crunch, Earthquake/Precipite Blades, Ice Hammer. And it also gets Glare and Z-Conversion. No thanks.

Giranium looks like the best (as in, most balanced) of the round. Low speed, bad typing, but amazing ability, gargantuan SpA stat with enough coverage moves to make it work (BoltBeam anyone?).

Demerine simply doesn't get enough good moves to make use of its high speed. Attack stats too low to use it as an attacker. Defensive stats too low and almost no utility.

Wintite is the same as Demerine, but its physical stats are both useable, the real problem is its awful typing.

Thank god this thing didn't end up getting Skill Swap... Despite having a low HP stat, this thing's bulk is actually pretty good in a kind of similar vein to Toxapex. Access to Foul Play, Scald, Strength Sap, and Rapid Spin is all really nice, but Horroboon still looks quite passive, even for a defensive Pokemon. I like this one, it looks pretty simple and not really overwhelming in any way, so I'll probably end up voting for it.

I think this one's honestly pretty broken. Quickilla has a very good offensive typing, very good coverage, and most importantly of all, really, really nice stats. Thanks to its high attack stat and good coverage, its only true defensive counter is Baloon, and even then, I don't think Baloon even likes taking a Choice Banded Play Rough unless it's fully invested in HP and Defense. It wouldn't be TOO hard to get in thanks to its pretty nice special bulk, and it's a bit slower than a few offensive threats, but both of those are just nice bonuses for what is already an absurd wallbreaker. I'm not a fan of this one at all.

I'm still not at all sure how I feel about this one, honestly. Filter on top of its bulk really can make up for its pretty lacking defensive typing, and the fact that it has recovery is really nice. Its Special Attack is still great despite having pretty weird coverage...I don't think it breaks SpDef Gorilax variants (I'm not sure if it'd prefer to run Def or SpDef) and it loses pretty hard to Komodith, though Komodith is somewhat prone to being worn down it's not good to get something that might end up being a really nice wallbreaker in for free. I'm sure most teams will want to run something with Ground or Fighting coverage or a STAB Water type move, on paper this thing would likely get so many easy switchin opportunities because not everything really likes to run those, but I dunno how this would be in practice at all. I'm probably not gonna vote for this, but only because I'm uncertain about whether it would be too much. I still feel like this opinion could change though.

This thing honestly doesn't really seem to have a goal...great speed tier, good abilities, and solid physical bulk, but it looks way too passive and it doesn't have anything to really abuse its good speed or abilities. Healing Wish and King's Shield are cool I guess but I'd imagine it needs more than that to be a good Pokemon. Not gonna vote for this.

It looks like Wintite really tries to go for two things here, either a fast physical attacker or another physically bulky wall. Honestly it looks pretty terrible at both, with it being as weak at it is and having as bad of a defensive typing as it does. This thing would also face huge competition from Glacida, who is stronger, has a far better offensive typing, and doesn't get forced out by every other special attacker, even if it does have a pretty nice speed tier for this format. I can't really think of a way that this would be better than Glacida.

That's all! I'm probably going to start voting tomorrow, and I MIGHT have a few sprites for you guys soon. Thanks for reading!

Voting has begun! I'm most likely not going to vote until I form a stronger opinion on Giranium. Voting will likely end either on Friday or Saturday.

Since the others have determined that Quickilla is a bit broken (of which I can agree to some extent), I'll make my votes as such:

Giranium, None, Horroboon

A Pokemon that can take advantage of Speed Swap in singles is rather interesting to me. Horroboon seems a bit underwhelming to me, but it's still good enough. The rest are not worth voting for, imo.

Didn't end up going back to look at everything because Giranium won by a landslide! I added it to the sheet, the others have been put in the rejected section. It's also worth mentioning that Giranium is the 10th Pokemon we've added! I don't know if I ever mentioned here, but my end goal is 50, and since I started with 10, we're about a quarter of the way until we're done here.

Onto the next builds...

That's all for now, though I do have a few other things that I thought would be fun to mention. I have a basic design idea for Komodith and may be spriting it soon, and though I have ideas for Gorilax and Glacida, I kinda doubt that I'm going to sprite any of those as of right now. I also tried making a name generator of my own, since my current method is just going to an online one and using the first name I see that kinda matches the typing. The results were...pretty terrible. Most of the time the names are either a huge mouthful, like "Chaosicket," or you can't really tell what they would be, like "Orale." I may work on that more later, but for now, I'm just gonna stick with the website. With those things out of the way, discussion phase has now begun!

Flamyle: A Fire type with Magnet Pull is rather interesting, but other than trapping Steels, this thing is mostly going to wind up being fast support due to its relatively low offenses. The best move its latter ability can boost is Thunder Fang, but it might still be useful because of the fast and powerful Electric types in the meta right now.

Spidops: Decent special attacker with some incentives to run mixed. Z-Purify and Hone Claws combined with Hyper Cutter make for good mixed potential, while Judgment and Hurricane allow for decent special sets.

Rockerine: Look, it's Rampardos on steroids! If you get off a hit, the foe will probably die. However, it has low speed and a poor defensive typing, so it's often going to suffer a punishing blow first. It has decent coverage, and even Agility, so it'll get some mileage, but perhaps not enough without support.

Swacoon: Solid stats with some good moves to abuse its high SpA with, but a poor defensive typing and abilities that don't really help it too much. Not my first choice.

Dinotic: Four words: Agility Flame Orb sweeper. Dragon Pulse, Searing Shot, and Aeroblast takes care of practically everything in the meta right now, except Pidgeotine. But if this thing gets going, it's going to be tough to stop.

Apologies for not having posted lately, I came back to finish everything up for my post about my thoughts and start voting...only to find that my draft was never saved. So instead, I'm just gonna give quick tl;drs...

Flamyle looks like a pretty effective Steel trapper thanks to Bonemerang / Jump Kick hitting our current Steels hard, and it has either enough bulk or Speed to be able to match up well against them; honestly looks interesting but I'd understand people not wanting trapping in this meta. Spidops looks pretty similar to the many other frail attackers we get in the way that it's nice against defense, but it's not fast enough to deal with offense since 116 Speed isn't the greatest here, so I'm not a fan of it. Rockerine actually may have had a chance of being possible to wall if not for Analytic. Swacoon has solid physical bulk and Special Attack and may be able to pull off a Calm Mind set, and although not good enough Speed and underwhelming special bulk may hold it back a little, its incredible movepool and its other stats make it interesting and probably worth voting for. I haven't looked into Dinotic too hard yet, but it looks kinda scary after an Agility + Flare Boost even despite lacking much special coverage...and even then I don't know how hard it may be for it to get a boost given it has to take a hit unless it runs Protect over Agility, which in my eyes would be much worse.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that voting starts now. I'll be voting later, most likely.

Alright, I'm gonna end voting. Flamyle won this week, so it was added to the sheet! Onto the next builds... (i don't know how it ended up giving me 4 names that end in the same letter)

That's about all. Discussion phase has now begun!

Demabura: Legendary abilities. However, it will only ever use Desolate Land in Singles, as Delta Stream does nothing for it. It does appreciate the boosted power to its Fire coverage, but its abilities don't synergize well with its team.

Termola: I think the stars aligned for this thing. Solid typing. Two abilities that are fantastic for it. Solid stats. And a movepool that is literally everything it could dream of. Pivoting, hazard removal, phasing, Wish with pivoting, offensive/defensive setup, and the best move to ever exist, Spectral Thief. Could be a bit much thanks to Adaptability, but I certainly think it's noteworthy.

Voltecta: This would be a solid user of Slush Rush if Snow Warning was introduced to the meta, but right now it's still decent. Its special coverage is rather paltry, but Ghost + Fighting coverage hits everything for at least neutral damage. It also gets pivoting and hazard removal, as well as Toxic Thread, Reflect, and Super Fang. It might also run an AV set to check the fast Electric types in the meta.

Armaros: Poor defenses with a high HP stat, very high Speed and Attack, and a movepool that compliments these stats altogether too well? It gets Swords Dance, Sacred Fire, and Precipice Blades? No thanks.

Dolphena: I like this thing, if for no other reason than the name. Most notably, it gets Psychic Surge and Extrasensory, which will hit decently hard. It can also check other Waters with Thunderbolt and Leaf Storm, or go with Competitive to take advantage of stat drops. However, I can see it being considered underwhelming due to what is has being merely passable.

Update:

+1 252 Atk Termola Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Baloon: 254-300 (53.1 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Baloon Play Rough vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Termola: 109-130 (27.7 - 33%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252 Atk Baloon Anchor Shot vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Termola: 158-188 (40.2 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Termola can edge past Baloon if it runs a Coil set with Spectral Thief over Rock Polish, but Electritar basically counters it either way, as Termola can't touch Steels, especially one as fast and with as high defense as Electritar.

Alright, time to post my thoughts...

Looks kinda interesting. It has great special coverage in Dark/Fighting/Fire/Grass, the capability to go mixed thanks to its stats, and Desolate Land effectively giving it STAB Searing Shot/Fiery Dance/Fire Punch, but making it weak to Fire itself...which might not be too notable since this is a wallbreaker. Everything outspeeds it except for Giranium, Kinesel, and Glacida, it lacks good recovery to exploit those who can't hurt it through its good special bulk, and its physical bulk is pretty horrendous, but it still looks to be pretty strong, especially when backed by a Modest nature and some boosting item. It'll probably be pretty tough to use but might be worthwhile.

Looks very interesting. An attack stat that good when complimented with Adaptability would make it seem broken right off the bat, but you then realize that its typing leaves a lot to be desires. It's hard countered by Brawnkey, Giranium, some Glacida variants and a healthier Komodith, and it also despises status and has a somewhat lacking speed tier...but that's definitely not to say it'll be bad at all. Rapid Spin still seems very nice thanks to its good special bulk and ability to force switches, and U-Turn could make it very easy to generate momentum for its team, and Coil and Rock Polish are both great options. Termola looks like a meta-defining Pokemon, but doesn't look broken to me.

Gonna start off by saying that this thing has a really weird stat spread in that it looks almost completely normal aside from the fact that it's minmaxed. The last digits of each stat are all 0, except for HP and Defense which are 9 and 1. That's so weird...

Anyways, Voltecta looks like a decent bulky pivot, honestly. SImilarly to Termola, it can force switches and Rapid Spin or Volt Switch, but it does this thanks to its bulk rather than its offensive presence. Something nice about it is that its typing is perfect for punching through most of the specially bulky stuff we currently have, bar Glacida, but even then it gets Air Slash / Psyshock / Focus Blast to hit that. Unfortunately, it'd probably have to use Choice Specs to be any strong, so that's really annoying for it, since I'd imagine it would want to abuse its good coverage instead. Not my favorite choice, but it looks interesting nonetheless.

No.

I'm not a fan of this one at all for one reason- its stats are just super bad. Although it's decently strong, it doesn't look bulky or fast enough to compensate for that. Competitive would be nice for it if it wasn't as situational as it is, and Psychic Surge would be nice if this thing was strong enough. Not gonna vote for this one either.
I also felt like bringing up the set I was talking about for Flamyle last week...

Flamyle @ Choice Band / Fightinium Z
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Blaze Kick
- Bonemerang / Jump Kick
- Heal Order
- Glare / Destiny Bond

Pretty straightforward stuff here. The last two moveslots are mostly filler, since you'll mostly be using Bonemerang or Jump Kick anyways. I believe Z-Jump Kick allows you to get a specific kill that Choice Band can't, but I can't remember what that is. Choice Band would most likely be better anyways.
Overall this week is pretty interesting though. I'll most likely be opening voting Friday.

Alright, voting has started! I kinda changed my mind about Termola, since most of its more reliable checks are Steel-typed and its access to a strong STAB U-Turn could force its checks in for Flamyle to trap and kill, thus opening a huge hole for Termola.

Demabura, Voltecta, none.

With Flamyle in this meta, that might make Termola a bit much. This means that it's going to be knocked down a few pegs for me. However, I still think Termola is super cool and it will be an honorable mention in my eyes. Anyway, here are my votes:

Dolphena, Voltecta, Termola

Honestly, Voltecta seems really solid, but my personal favorite is Dolphena... even if The Cruelest's points about it are entirely valid. As for Demabura, I just don't think it's altogether very interesting, especially with its one usable ability.
