Round XIX: Coconut vs Banana, Exeggutor vs Tropius!

It was a crime to let Slowking win last round, and I can't believe Cofagrigus is in the lead right now. I need to put a stop to this madness.

Nostalgia

Of course I have no pokemon cards of Cofagrigus, I stopped collecting them when it started turning crummy with power creep. I have 3 Dusclops cards, and I can't be bothered to link them since I'm lazy. Anyways, that's not all. I also use Dusclops all the time in game, whilst Cofagrigus can go fuck itself. I remember battling Cofagrigus in elite 4 and thinking "WTF is this shit?" It was annoying to face, and put me off it. Yamask is cool though.

Design

Oh many people will just say that Cofagrigus is "way cooler hurr durr durr" but no, that's not true either. Cofagrigus is a coffin with ghost hands. Pretty uninventive. And the fact is, people are supposedly scared of mummies... not the coffins. Dusclops, however, is great. Just look at it, it's an actual mummy, but with one freakin' eye! Also the hands are menacing and the rags are just the icing on the cake.

One last thing:

Also, these competitions are going by really fast. I've been gone from here one day and it's already cycled through three of these pokemon vs pokemon things. I wish they could slow down a bit lol. I'd have enjoyed to vote in the slowking vs slaking poll...

How would it be to encounter this guy in an alley? I would be scared to death... Cofagrigus... meh, not so much. With those weird hands...

i'm an egyptnerd and it's a really cool concept. doesn't it, like, eat the robbers of the graves it's in or something that are looking for gold? pretty freakin' awesome. rse were my first games, but duskull > dusclops. easy. they messed up on that design. duskull should've evolved into something like kitsunoh.

i've used Dusclops/Dusknoir one time in a randomized nuzelock run of blaze black 2 (a hack of black 2 with more difficulty.) It stuck with me most of the game from the first gym till i got to i say the 7th gym,hmm.. Brycen i think?..His team was stacked full, 6 mons in a double battle with hail spammin blizzards and potions.

Never really used Cofagrigus so i dont have really much to say bout em. I mean it's blatantly a coffin with derpy lookin arms that stick out randomly in the sprite. ..

I personally like Cofagrigus' design better, and I have used both pokemon on runs of games, and Cofagrigus has been more helpful.

Caught a shiny Yamask whilst ev'ing (I seem to be lucky with shiny ghosts), but either way, Dusknoir is just so ugly.
 
Cofagrigus- it has such an awesome smile and expression and I love the story of its Dex entries more than Dusclops. Colour scheme is much more interesting as well and a nice change from other Ghost type colour schemes

Cofagrigus.

I too am fascinated with ancient Egypt and was extremely excited when I saw this guy. Also, another user back in the Gen V speculation called it Sarcophageist, which apart from being too long for the character limit, is a much superior name, IMO.
 
Dusclops all day. Loved his design, he's a mummified cyclops that's a black hole. That's pretty freakin intense. Plus, playing the pokemon pinball game was awesome, where Dusclops was a boss in a graveyard! I like Cofagrigus too, but Dusclops takes the cake.
 
Although both of these are pretty cool mons, Cofagrigus wins for its really cool / freaky running in the anime (I can't find a link of it, but it's really creepy and something that could conceivably be in a horror movie...)... This puts a different spin on that, though. It's also really aesthetically pleasing. Sorry dusko; you're cool but not cool enough!

I didn't expect to like it when I trained it, but that bulk and moveset worked extremely well with each other. It became a pretty solid part of my first team. It also has awesome Dex entries about eating grave robbers and stuff. Also, it evolves from Yamask which are the spirits of dead people :o
 
Duskull and Dusknoir are better but Dusclops is still scary and will rip your fucking heart out. With eviolite its pretty damn awesome.
 
Damn this is perhaps the first round where I had inner conflict on who to vote. I like both Dusclops and Cofagrigus. Damn.

I'll have to go with Cofagrigus this time since I hated the fact that Dusclops evolves into a druid with a face on the stomach. Yuck.
 
I think people are forgetting that this is a badass contest. Not a 'who is more viable competitively' contest or some variation. Anyway..

Haha sorry. We are going to list every pokemon here - or at least every pokemon line, we are trying to average out one round every 24 hours, unless the round has generated few votes or the votes are still in full swing.

No idea what I was going for with the title here, but hey, sounded good in my head! >:(
It is great to have more people voting on this though! It seems that popularity is going up, and there are a few people stopping by this thread every day to vote now!
Anyway, I told Eagle4 to change the round on irc, and he left 2 minutes later so idk if he even saw it, but I may as well say Get in votes round ending soon just as I talk about why dusclops is awesome.
Dusclops is such a boss, like seriously.

Nostalgia
On colosseum you are in what you assume is the final battle against Nascour - no music, a team that had screwed you over probably several times already (DAMN YOU ROAR) and facing what as a child I could only assume were uber-strong pokemon (gardevoir 4 ubers) at how much damage they are doing. And then you see this big goofy mummy thing coming out and I just burst out laughing! Honestly, the colosseum model of dusclops is just the greatest thing ever, his body is waving randomly and his hands are shaking all the time and it just looks incredibly goofy. No other word to describe it. This is after seeing things like Gardevoir and Blaziken, who are so bad ass and so fitting for a final battle, but in comparison this mummy thing is hilarious.

Design
Coffin with hands versus the goofiest ghost in the world. Now I have no idea what you may think when put down like this, but dusclops just seems SO much better to me!!

Other
Dusclops was kinda wrecked by the most pointless pokemon ever - even moreso than chingling or the eons - dusknoir. Seriously, no merit competitively or design-wise, whereas cofagrigus has one of the best generation 5 pokemon, in my opinion, as a pre-evo in yamask. Seriously, if we were judging this on whole lines cofagrigus would win, but this is only on the merit of dusclops and cofagrigus so...

DUSCLOPS FOREVER!!!
