Analysis
Sallazle has an unique typing which not only gives it solid overall STAB coverage, but also useful resistances to common offensive types such as Fairy, Fire, Ice and Fighting. Thanks to its good Speed and decent Special Attack, it can be quite offensively threatening, especially given that it learns Nasty Plot. Furthermore, its ability enables it to poison any Pokemon, regardless of typing.

Unfortunately, its own typing, which already forces most Steel-types out, isn't adequately suited for its ability, not to mention that its abysmal bulk prevents it from making good use of its ability or defensive typing. It also completely lacks coverage outside of its main STABs, and thus needs to rely on Hidden Power to hit common OU pokemon such as Tyranitar, Heatran and Garchomp. Its weakness to Stealth Rocks is also a big detriment to it.

Potential movesets

Nasty Plot
Salazzle @ Life Orb
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Hidden Power [Fighting] / Hidden Power [Ground]
- Nasty Plot

Dual STABs are self-explanatory, and Life Orb is required since Salazzle needs all the power it gets. It unfortunately doesn't get a lot of options, so it needs to rely on a Hidden Power to hit either one of Garchomp, Heatran or Tyranitar, whichever you prefer. Nasty Plot is difficult to set up on a Pokemon as frail as this, but it can still do it by forcing a switch against one of the many Pokemon it checks.

SubToxic
Salazzle @ Black Sludge / Life Orb
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute
- Toxic

While Salazzle can't really make use of Corrosion as much as it wants to, it's still quite good at crippling specific threats. Heatran, Mega Venusaur and especially Toxapex can almost always switch into Salazzle, but are severely crippled by Toxic. Subsitute pairs up very well with Toxic since, even though it will almost always be broken immediately, it helps rack up damage. It also eases prediction and helps against Bisharp, and as long as it's still OU, Mega Mawile. The choice of an item is bascially a pick-your-poison: either go with Black Sludge and forfeit a lot of necessary power, or run a Life Orb and lose the ability to stack Substitutes.

Conclusion

Salazzle admittedly doesn't seem like the greatest Pokemon in OU, but it does have a few useful attributes which may give it a place on a few teams. Whether or not it'll make any kind of splash in OU, or even be viable at all, has yet to be seen.

From what I've seen, it plays sort of like a tricky fragile sweeper. The pokemon it most reminds me of is Gengar. With Taunt/Toxic/Sludge Bomb/Fire Blast, it can cripple the bulky Steel or Poison types that will want to switch into it. Heatran, M-Venusaur, Toxapex etc. will not appreciate a Toxic from this.

This is one of my new 10 favorite Pokemon in Sun & Moon. Two of those movesets are great. Salazzle needs to watch out for Pursuit, Aqua Jet, and Match Punch users.

The primary set for this Pokemon needs to be Choice Specs because this will be less risk of getting knock out. Salazzle also makes a good hit and run.

This thing breaks amazing holes in the opponent team as far as i've tested it. Agree with a specs set, since the bulk is pretty bad, and it usually gets revenge killed after setting a Nasty Plot up, i'll be testing the sub+toxic set and edit this l8r

Salazzle is an awesome addition to the franchise, what a great Pokemon!

Weak: Ground x4 / Rock x2 / Water x2 / Psychic x2
Resist: Bug x4 / Grass x4 / Fairy x4 / Fighting x2 / Poison x2 / Steel x2 / Fire x2 / Ice x2

Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe or 248 HP / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 252 Spe.
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Disable
- Toxic
- Flamethrower

Fire & Poison is a huge boon to Salazzle as it allows her to force plenty of switches and set up a Substitute or wear something down with Toxic. Black Sludge is the item of choice as the passive recovery provided is necessary to be able to keep using Substitute. She will be a huge nuisance indeed!

117 speed is awesome, 111 special attack doesn't sound great, but it's power compares to Gengar's pretty well, Sludge Wave is a little weaker but Fire Blast hits harder than Shadow Ball.

252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 142-169 (40.4 - 48.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Salazzle Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 129-152 (36.7 - 43.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 121-142 (34.4 - 40.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Salazzle Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 148-175 (42.1 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Do we not talk doubles sets at all here? Since I got the best possible double set for this girl

Timid@air Balloon. Corrosive
Poison Gas
Venom Drench
VenoShock
Fireblast

double poison, then either double massive damage or double cripple them stat wise. either works. Paired with an uranguru and this is just devestating

Really love this set!

But why poison gas instead of Toxic?

Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Corrosion
Timid 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Substitute
- Disable/Protect
- Toxic/Sludge Bomb
- Taunt/Venom Drench

I really like the idea of this annoyer set. Being so fast behind a Sub and able to poison virtually everything is truly insidious. A fast Taunt is devastating and kind of necessary, so slower pokemon can't also throw up a Substitute and protect themselves from Toxic. After Taunt, Disable prevents their attack move of choice. You can theoretically poison soooo much at this rate. This is a great mon to play early after some hazards, because the opponent will go through soooo much of their team trying to break your Sub or set up or phaze you and find out they can't do any between Taunt and Disable. Meanwhile just spread as much Toxic as you can.

Salazzle @ Salac Berry
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
- Belch
- Fire Blast

Salazzle is probably one of the best users of Belch and doesnt get worn down super quickly with LO. Belch is about as powerful as LO Sludge Bomb anyway. It is also way harder to revenge kill as it even outspeeds the Scarf base 110s.

Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 248 Hp / 52 SDef / 208 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Disable
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast/Venoshock

This set takes a bulky approach to Salazzle even though its still frail. It has pretty good defensive typing for a Fire type. It should have around 208 evs in speed so it can Outspeed thundurus. You can make it bulkier if needed. This set is best used with a Toxic Spikes and can be lethal in the right hands. Oblivous is the ability if choice since it blocks Taunt. It can be used as a Stall Breaker with Nasty Plot and be a huge nuisance to stall teams.

This is really the future of this mon. Once the offensive phase dies down what will be left over is an especially nasty toxic staller that cripples every member of OU stall minus mega sab and gliscor. Really cool pokemon.

I'm really, really disappointed with how Salazzle turned out - Salandit was by far my favorite new Pokemon that was revealed, and here we can see that its only standout traits are its solid speed tier and ability, which is arguably decent at best.

Corrosion is best suited of a defensive Pokemon, but Salazzle is incredibly frail, and nearly all of the Pokemon that you would be using Toxic/Poison Gas on are scared of STAB Fire Blast anyway - the exceptions being Heatran and Mega-Venusaur. Salazzle is in a weird spot because of this - she has pretty nice offensive stats, but does not hit hard or fast enough to be onto on offensive team, and then Corrosion is a really neat ability that wants to be put on a defensive team, but she is far too frail to make that work. That said, I agree that Salazzle works best with the classic status Gengar set - she has similar defenses and trades power for a better speed tier.

Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 16 HP / 252 SpA / 240 Spe
Timid Nature
- Venoshock/Sludge Wave
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Fire Blast

I took the Hex Gengar set from this page and altered it to be Salazzle - Hex = Venoshock, WoW = Toxic, SW/Sub = fire coverage. I took what TURBODERP said above me and swapped out some speed for HP (361 is the magic number to beat for +Spe natured 115's; 240 gives us 363). 16 HP gives us an odd-number of HP, which is good for Stealth Rock calculations.

Salazzle has a lot of decent utility options available, like Disable or Will-o-Wisp too, but again, Salazzle is too frail (and Stealth Rock weak) to fully utilize these. Any time I've tried her on my teams, she at MOST gets a few Toxics off and just dies. Her three 4x resists are really useful (Fairy resist especially), but ugh, those defenses...I can't say I see her staying in OU once the meta settles, but her ability can make her a surprise niche pick, and her stats indicate she will be a threat in UU/RU.

Hell you can probably run just enough EVs to outspeed base 115s and chuck the tiny bit left into Spdef.
240 should be enough, leaving you with 16 extra EVs.

My favorite set, with the updated EVs.

Salazzle (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 16 Def / 252 SpA / 240 Spe
Timid Nature

- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic
- Nasty Plot

I was thinking "wait The nerf on gengar wasn't that bad, he can check a lot of new mons like tapus, a-marowak, a-ninetales, aegislash, decidueye and some others" than I realise that This mon can check all of them bar marowak, is faster, hits harder due of The bp of FB and set Up With NP, also being able to criple things like toxapex is nice. I Guess we can burrow gengar now, once The overpower shit gets banned This is going to be The go-to fast poison type

Gengar is going to be fine, and if not it won't be Salazzle's fault. She may compete with gar for a teamslot sure, both being fast glass cannon poison types, but I think Gengar will still be better overall once the meta settles down. SB / SW / FB is perfect coverage, which opens up a moveslot for Taunt, Destiny Bond, Wisp, or Sub. Salazzle doesn't have any coverage outside of Hidden Power, and even then it has to pick and choose what it can beat. Nasty Plot and the ability to toxic all of it's counters are nice, but I don't think this thing is going to make OU. The NP set has trouble breaking through some common cores and immunity's are better than resists for Sub sets when you're as frail as these tow. Gengar's better coverage and ability to stallbreak are just too sexy imo.

Vague

Banned deucer.
the most mileage this thing is getting is with it's NP set. the other sets may be cool and all, but when it comes down to it the best way to use Salazzle to it's best capability it's gonna be NP.

salazzle @ life orb | corrosion
timid | 252 spa / 4 spd / 252 spe
fire blast / sludge wave / hp fighting / nasty plot

hidden power fighting is is the best kind of coverage to run on salazzle imo, but in all honesty something like sub, taunt, or even toxic for stuff like toxapex is better. hp fight ohkoes ttar after a boost and has a 12% chance to KO bulky-fast tran after rocks (not impressive but it's something). hp ice is a waste since it only hits garchomp and it's not coming in on boosted fire blasts or even swaves for that matter more than once.

it's best to utilize it for it's high speed and ability to force some easy switches with it's typing and while subtox takes advantage of that fact, isn't too good in practice. btw dugtrio pairs super well with this

This is really the future of this mon. Once the offensive phase dies down what will be left over is an especially nasty toxic staller that cripples every member of OU stall minus mega sab and gliscor. Really cool pokemon.
Also Magic Guard mons like Reunclius. And Marowak can get through subs and KO with Bonemerang.

But I agree. This set is devistating. I'd pair it with Tapu Bulu for extra healing wth grassy terrain. Sure the grounded enemy heals too, but Toxic puts them on a timer regardless, and with Protect and Sub you can wait them out as Toxic damage builds up.

Basicly this thing exist to toxic toxapex and stall break steel/poison pokemon this thing would be amazing if it got toxic spikes. This thing just screams venoshock but that atk stat doe
