Metagame Scalemons

Some cool things:

Mega-Kangaskhan - 105/152/122/71/122/135
Of all the mons that needed a buff, this isn't one of them. This just isn't okay.

Azurill - 50/78/157/78/157/78
Base 78 pure power might not feel that intimidating with Mega-Mawile running around, but that's toxapex defenses on a normal-fairy that can carry AV or a Band, with STAB Return.

Meditite - 30/91/125/91/125/136
While we're on the topic of oddly bulky pure power attackers, why not give them a speed tier?
Medicham's also sitting pretty at 60/94/117/94/117/125
Edit: Oh god, Mega-Medicham is 60/134/127/114/127/145, plz ban.

Alola-Persian - 65/85/85/107/92/164
The ultimate stallbreaker. Enough defense to function as a physical wall thanks to Fur Coat, access to Taunt, Switcheroo, Parting Shot, Foul Play, etc. Give him a scarf and watch people cry.

Mega-Swampert - 100/166/123/107/123/78
Because who doesn't want significant extra bulk on their rain sweeper in a format where drizzlers might be good.

Munchlax - 135/155/72/72/155/9
Special Tank McGee. Curse sets, AV or Band, just ugh.
Honestly, Snorlax is pretty great at 160/127/75/75/127/34

Igglybuff - 90/127/63/170/85/63
Jigglypuff - 115/140/62/140/78/62
Because no-one expects evil puffballs of death. Competitive AV/Specs as a defog punisher feels good.

Chansey - 250/8/8/61/183/88
Blissey - 255/11/11/90/162/66

Chansey's blobbiness seems to go up enough to still hold off special attacks. Blissey has enough Special Attack to deal with the special attackers, which seem to be much on the frail side. Chansey is better as a pure wall due to higher speed and special bulk.

Onix - 35/72/255/56/72/113
Steelix - 75/102/241/66/78/36

Onix is also blocked by the cap, with Steelix having a bit attack to work with.

I don't think you should ever run special attacks on Blissey - it functions much better as a tank/cleric.

I've been working on figuring out the stats of a lot of pokemon and figured speed tiers would be a good place to start. This isn't accounting for different nature's/scarves/viability etc, just a simple list of some of the tiers fastest pokemon for new players to go off of. Currently focusing on finding anything faster than Bunnelby but will include anything I find that hits +130

As far as defensive pokemon go, Shiinotic is really cool on paper with 60/70/125/141/157/47 and access to some of the best moves in the game. Unfortunately struggles with other bulky grass types due to it's limited offensive movepool, but still worth a look. Defensive pokemon don't seem to have it great in this meta but I've had decent success with Shelmet who sits at 50/86/183/86/140/53 and has access to some of the games better utility moves like Recover, Spikes, Encore and Infestation.

And then on the offensive spectrum there's Cranidos who, with a stat spread of 67/235/75/57/57/109, is only outclassed by Huge Power users in terms of sheer attack power. Haven't tried it out but seems promising.

Taillow is also really good, though it only hits 403 SpAtk even with Choice Specs and a +SpAtk nature, it's still able to outrun and OHKO things like Buizel, Gastly and Abra with 0 prior damage.

I think that HP should be scaled with other stats, and the reason is because of this monster.

New stats: 48/188/80/80/80/121
Adaptability and Strong Jaw are pretty good abilities, but it's Stakeout that really shines, doubling attack power when the opponent switches. It would run something like this:

Yungoos @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Stakeout
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Frustration
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- U-turn / Pursuit

Sure, it has barely any movepool, but that's all it needs to dominate any defensive pokemon on the switch.

252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex (50/187): 430-508 (141.4 - 167.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Sableye-Mega (50/159): 245-289 (80.8 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rhydon (105/156): 498-586 (120.2 - 141.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Doublade (58/208): 396-468 (122.9 - 145.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowpoke (95/147): 416-490 (108.3 - 127.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dwebble (50/170): 232-274 (76.3 - 90.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sandygast (55/164): 384-452 (122.2 - 143.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Frustration vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangela (65/166): 363-427 (108.6 - 127.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Wobbuffet (190/110): 512-604 (87.6 - 103.4%) -- 25% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro-Mega (95/183): 350-414 (88.8 - 105%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus (58/184): 350-414 (109.3 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Lileep (66/142): 266-314 (79.1 - 93.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Carracosta (78/166 + Solid Rock): 355-418 (100.8 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Filter Aggron-Mega (70/217 + Filter): 288-339 (83.7 - 98.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Shuckle (20/255): 168-198 (68.8 - 81.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Yungoos Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Groudon-Primal: 486-574 (120.5 - 142.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The only ways you can beat it are to predict well, use immunities, or outspeed it. But if the opponent with Yungoos has enough skill, it's very hard to eliminate it. Fortunately, Yungoos has a relatively average Speed stat of 121, so there are many viable mons who outspeed it, such as Abra, Gastly, Diglett and Dugtrio, Gengar-Mega, and Bunnelby.

tl;dr don't switch on yungoos, also ban yungoos pls

What about items like lucky punch and stick, should those be banned?
Aka not mentioned in the OP
Obviously Lucky Punch should not be banned - at best, it's a bad meme, and crits don't matter so much if you're not doing much damage in the first place. (also why are you running an offensive chansey, and why are you running chansey in the first place)

Stick isn't that good either. Farfetch'd, with 52/151/92/97/104/101 stats, is basically outclassed by Rufflet, Starly, and Bunnelby for Normal-type physical attackers. The only niche Farfetch'd has is Defiant, where Pawniard probably shines more in punishing Defog.

This metagame will be where pre-evos shine way better due to better stat spreads.

Huge Power users, in particular, seem scary.

Most huge power users aren't all that threatening as their attack usually doesn't get buffed that much. The most threatening ones are Bunnelby, Medicham-mega and Mawile-mega but there are obvious drawbacks to using them. Bunnelby is fast (Base 160) but not too fast in this meta, with a base attack of 105. It can kill things pretty easily, but it's movepool is horribly shallow and leaves it hard walled by levitating ghosts and steel/flying types. Medicham-mega sits at 120 attack and speed, which is relatively slow for this meta, while it can circumvent that with priority, anything faster than it that it fails to OHKO is gonna have a pretty easy time taking it down. Mawile has a terrifying 134 attack and incredible typing, but it's still terrible speed tier means that it relies on non-STAB suckerpunch to be able to kill, as nearly anything in this meta will end up outrunning it.

I just tried this:

Stats: 60/175/108/81/81/94

Even though 175 isn't the best attack stat in this meta, Breloom still have access to a STABed Mach Punch with Technician. I don't have calcs or whatever, but he is definitively strong.

Here is your updated banlist:

Mawilite and Medichamite
I decided to ban these items instead of just Huge Power and Pure Power in general because the other Pokemon with these abilities still aren't even top-notch Pokemon after the boosts. Mega Mawile had a base 134 Attack stat and amazing bulk, and Mega Medicham had a base 120 Attack stat with equal Speed and slightly increased bulk to make it harder to KO as well. On top of that, they both have strong priority moves that, while not boosted by STAB, provided very nice coverage in addition to their other moves for difficult revenge killing.

Shedinja
Having base 229 Attack with an incredible ability in Wonder Guard that prevents Shedinja from being touched by a majority of moves in Scalemons is wholly broken. On top of its amazing Attack, Shedinja has Swords Dance and Shadow Sneak to quickly KO almost anything that gets in its path. Shedinja also has an okay base Speed stat of 101 to further expedite its sweeping capabilities.

Arena Trap and Shadow Tag
With Diglett being an offensive Speed demon with base 219 Speed and an alright attacker with base 127 Attack, as well as Trapinch being a bulky tank with base 226 Attack and 45 / 101 / 101 bulk, they were already pretty good. However, being able to trap a majority of the metagame on top of being decently strong, and in Diglett's case, fast, they were nigh unbeatable and were almost always guaranteed to KO at least Pokemon on the opposing team. With Mega Gengar and Gothitelle matching the traits that Diglett and Trapinch have with the former being faster and decently strong and the latter being a bulky tank and an even better ability in Shadow Tag that allowed them to trap even non-grounded Pokemon, they made trapping as a whole even more uncompetitive than it already was.

More bans coming soon. Tagging urkerab to update ROM.

Tagging urkerab to update ROM.
urkerab ROM still isn't updated with these bans
