SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

On Toxic... it shouldn't had been one of those "everything gets it" moves to begin with, like Double Team. Everything getting the "ninja techniques" was a bit weird.

But, on the other hand, Umbreon, the thing that canonically sweats poison, should have no issues learning it, for example.

Hoping Heat Crash comes back as a teachable move, Groudon did like having that.
I've always considered Poison to be a significant part of pokemon's mechanical identity. A battle system that lets status flourish compared to a lot of other RPGs giving bosses blanket immunities. An entire type devoted to the concept, and a common type during the early games at that. A poison move being universal was a part of that: it let every mon have meaningful access to this part of the game. The lack of replacement for Toxic and the shift away from trainer bosses are what flips my internal perceptions from "these are pokemon games with little enticing content" to "these are no longer pokemon games as I understand them."

At some level, I wish I could stand to play in formats with the moveset retoolings. I can agree that Knock Off was overbearing and that Chilling Water was a good fix for some of the problems with Scald. But it doesn't feel right without Toxic. Even in Natdex, where older mons lose nothing, its absence is a serious damper on using a major chunk of new mons. Have a lesser replacement if you need to, I'll point again to Chilling Water. But I need there to be a universal damage-over-time move.

Looks like we'll be getting a Mewtwo Raid in August then

Honestly this would be a pretty good idea to have a field wide effect since Illuminate is supposed to light up the whole area.

So I was looking at the 1.3.2 text dumps (once again available from Abcboy's bulbapedia page) and all the things being discussed are basically all that's been changed in the common text (new TM names and description changes) while the script is unchanged again. However we can still see what this Mew line is like in other languages, which all pretty much say the same idea.

French: Face à cet adversaire redoutable, Mew s’apprête à donner le meilleur\nde lui-même !

Also there are some small changes to a few Japanese pokedex entries as noted by mattyoukhana.
Where did you find the new TM names

People thinking Mewtwo coming up, would this insinuate a Mew event too to receive the mark for raiding with it? For that matter if this ended up being the purpose of the raid, do you think Mewtwo would be an uncatchable loot boss like the Max Raid event in Gen 8?

Mew's getting another upcoming event in Go, supposedly? I think I read that somewhere (maybe it was just an assumption?).
Could just be less the purpose of the event, and more a "bonus" for those who either had Go or brought in a Mew from an earlier game via Home.

I absolutely think it'll be a SWSH-style loot boss, yeah; that fits with how SWSH handled all its Legendary raids and I think we'll instead get the opportunity to catch them in the DLC. The SWSH Mewtwo was pretty scary iirc so I can only imagine what they'l pull out here.

Mew is available in two ways: a free Special Research themed for a regular Mew, and a new Research Line people can buy to get a Shiny Mew (I think people at Kanto Go Fest had access to this already but unsure if it's rerun for them). That said, most Mythicals in Go are one-and-done because of this method and the Shiny Mew Research that is being spotlighted for the anniversary is supposed to be a long term goal (Phase 1 is "Catch data for the entire Kanto Dex" and Step 2 is "Catch a Pokemon a day 30 days in a row") so this probably wouldn't be anywhere near immediate if it was meant for those Mews unless they announce it well in advance to push engagement.

I wish they'd do Legendaries in Raids as catchable, would give more inventive for people to figure out how the hell to play and I think a nice way to keep people playing over time if they need engagement to stretch to the DLC. Also I want more chances for weird catches like Beast/Heavy Ball Mewtwo without RNG rolls

Jesus I had no idea about the stuff involved in the Shiny Mew research. That's like...endgame-esque, even. And several Kanto pokemon are region locked...

Yeah it was always a shame seeing some of the latter legend raids and going "oh!?" followed by "oh." like the Urshifus or the horses. Like I get what they WANT people to do (the DLC) but, you know, still...

Mew's naming was supposedly July 10th, so I guess there could always be a surprise distribution dropped tomorrow... Also potentially notably, Mewtwo is coming to Unite on July 21, so there could be some possibility of cross promotion, but GameFreak might also hold back a Mewtwo type event for a Worlds announcement (August 11-13).

But yeah, even then, anybody buying the special research ticket will likely not have a Mew in time for any Mewtwo raids. When they originally released the ticket a couple of years ago it was during the Kanto GO Tour event, when all of the regionals and legendaries were in raids so that you could actually complete the Kanto dex and pass the first part of the research. Right now you're SOL if you don't have those and can't find someone to trade with. If a hardcore player that somehow hadn't already done the research in 2021 has already completed their Kanto dex or can find people to trade with, then maybe they could get Mew before Worlds.

It's definitely intended to take a long time/fair amount of effort; I'm currently on a step of the shiny Jirachi research that requires catching 10 Kecleon. I caught two reasonably quickly, but since then I haven't seen a Keckleon in weeks, and I'm not about to go driving around hunting for them.

Don't worry, it's all but guaranteed that the usual "catch all legendaries" will be some form of raids in the second DLC.

Though maybe with some twist. Not that I'd mind another "dynamax adventure", but I hope we won't exactly need to rely on other people again...

hey, Dynamax Adventures is super possible solo. Without too much problems, even.

if we just got Tera Raid Adventures again that worked the same way I'd be for it. In fact I'd be over the moon just because SV raids go by so much faster.

Eh, most of them yes, but I do have ptsd from stuff like Landorus and Kyurem and any aoe spammer

Granted, Terastal Raids do not penalyze you for AI deaths and do not basically force you to use the supermechanic at a specific turn or lose it, so i can see a similar version being much less atrocious and possibly even more fun.

I dunno even the rough ones I liked because it was interesting to see what I could pull off with the team I got by the end.

I liked them enough that even when I wa sgrinding out Ore for home reasons, or grinding out more legends on the second file, I just genuinely enjoyed it even when I lost.
Also helps that even if you don't get the legendary, you can get some pretty interesting other Pokemon in the lead up. Hidden Abilities, G-maxes, the 1/100 shiny chance, Hoenn starters, and a few other odds and ends like Porygon or Slowking.

There's plenty of ways that things could go wrong here, depending on how they want to structure such an affair, but I'm hopeful it'd be cool considering the concessions made before.

The thing for me is I don't see the harm in making those Legends available via raids if the DLC will be key to their usage (such as the horses getting Calyrex to ride). They'd be useful without the DLC but still leave something to gain if you buy it, while being a bonus for buyers who are also playing now instead of later, like the hypothetical horse example meaning someone would have both available instead of just one if they both buy the DLC and were playing close to its release.

Can you link it please
The text dumps are all on Abcboy's bulbapedia page as I linked in my first post that you quoted.

It's not really worth seeing for yourself though because it's all been posted as a tweet and discussed already as I said. Here they are:
