While I doubt it would be the functional physical Electric STAB people have been hoping for, I could see expanding it to be coverage on spiky non-Electrics like Qwilfish or Ferrothorn.Zing Zap's flavour is particularly related to spikiness, right in its Japanese name, so I doubt that one will be extended quite like Darkest Lariat. That after all is just a lariat, really. Now TROP KICK I'd love to see other things get.
And there's plenty of room for less literal reading of "shocking and prickly", to just being shocking or prickly or prickly for the reason of shocking. While I doubt it would be the functional physical Electric STAB people have been hoping for, I could see expanding it to be coverage on spiky non-Electrics like Qwilfish or Ferrothorn.
I'd point that the only move that tecnically got this treatment in SV was Scald.I am a fan of limiting the distribution of moves like Toxic, Knock, snd Scald in SV
S/V finished the job by removing transfer moves. Toxic and Knock Off were kept alive in Sw/Sh through HOME transfers.I'd point that the only move that tecnically got this treatment in SV was Scald.
Toxic and Knock Off (as well as Roost actually and couple other less relevant moves) got mainly cut from movesets in gen 8 already.
That's irrelevant as these were never legitimate to use competitively.S/V finished the job by removing transfer moves. Toxic and Knock Off were kept alive in Sw/Sh through HOME transfers.
Yeah, but Transfers existing effectively meant only the gen 8 mons like Corv got cucked since they didn't learn Toxic while older mons like Skarmory did. This gen, it feels like a more relevant limitation.I'd point that the only move that tecnically got this treatment in SV was Scald.

I have to say that I'm not a big fan of Illuminate being changed to be a Keen Eye clone just for the sake of giving it an effect. I know increasing encounter rate wouldn't have been able to translate to Gen 9 the same way without random encounters (maybe they could have made it spawn more rare encounters), but it feels wrong to give Illuminate an effect at all after 20 years and have it be a clone of another existing one. My hot take on this is that I think it would be fine if they just made Illuminate had no effect at all and just let it be a flavour ability since it wasn't like anyone was using it anyway. It's like if they made Phione a Manaphy clone, which would be a direct improvement but also take away from Phione's classic identity as being worse Manaphy. If anything Illuminate should be like Flash and lower accuracy instead.
This is also pretty interesting to see left over. The line "Mew is going to go all out against this formidable opponent!" is hard to tell when it would be said in general. I don't feel like it would refer to the player characters in a raid from the enemy side since those technically involve multiple opponents, but being an interaction on the player side lends the question on where it would happen, and feels more like either an intro to a scripted battle or the activation message of a gimmick form change or something suitably dramatic.Anyway, moves aside, I'm pretty interested in that Mew Battle
Kind of hard to tell if we're using the Mew against the "formidable opponent" (some sort of story event, for example, similar to the end of The Way Home) or the Mew is fighting us as the "formidable opponent" (some sort of special Raid, like the Vespiquen, Greedent & Regigigas battles).
Sorry to be a little late to the conversation, but why is Volt Tackle listed here with 0 learners? I just bred a Pichu to check and it got it just fine. Here's every move that's not a legendary signature / event move that is both usable in SV on the current patch and has 0 learners
Mega Punch
Cut
Horn Drill
Blaze Kick
Volt Tackle
Tail Slap
Darkest Lariat
Burn Up
Meteor Beam
Misty Explosion
Grassy Glide
Rising Voltage
Burning Jealousy
Lash Out
Poltergeist
Corrosive Gas
Coaching
Triple Axel
Scorching Sands
Power Shift
Volt Tackle's a special case as it doesn't actually show up in move lists normally. Really I should've just excluded it lmaoSorry to be a little late to the conversation, but why is Volt Tackle listed here with 0 learners? I just bred a Pichu to check and it got it just fine.
No effect at all is a spicy take alright, I'd much rather a clone than not.I have to say that I'm not a big fan of Illuminate being changed to be a Keen Eye clone just for the sake of giving it an effect. There's also the fact its specifically under "Mew Battle". So it's not even like, swappable text for a type of more general raid, like you'd maybe expect that with a legendary set of raids or something. This is also pretty interesting to see left over. I didn't think of Mew to be the type to go all out usually, but the description of Genesis Supernova does have some precedent for it.

Sometimes when Khu starts obliquely hinting at things I just start making the hurry up hand motionsAlso the Mightiest Mark description got changed and Khu responded to that tweet, as well as a separate tweet implying Mightiest Mark Mewtwo and some other vague posting.
I think it would be really funny for them to make it a No Guard clone out of nowhere and just start watching Lanturn and Starmie flinging Zap Cannons all over the place and Volbeat running Dynamic Punch just for the lolsNo effect at all is a spicy take alright, I'd much rather a clone than not.
But hey the effect isnt' implemented yet, maybe there'll be some other unstated effect. mayeb it'll clear out accuracy debuffs of allies or something.
Honestly this would be a pretty good idea to have a field wide effect since Illuminate is supposed to light up the whole area.No effect at all is a spicy take alright, I'd much rather a clone than not.
