Do we yet know if Ogerpon's "base" form will be a separate form?

And for the Loyal Three, is it safe to assume these ones will be shiny locked?

Define “base form”

Ogerpon will have four forms in total, according to the leaked Pokémon Home data*. One of those is the “Teal Mask” form seen on all of the promotional material thus far (much like how Calyrex’s “base” form is the one on all of the Crown Tundra promo material), so if that’s what you mean by “base form,” then yes, it’s separate from the other three forms (Wellspring Mask, Hearthflame Mask, and Cornerstone Mask).

If you are asking if there will be a “maskless” form separate from any of those, then the answer would be no, at least according to the leaked information.

* The Home data doesn’t seem to include Ogerpon’s “Terastallized State,” which seems to be a form it can only achieve by Terastallizing. But that wouldn’t be a “base form” anyway, so it’s not really relevant here.

And that is why I was asking. Was there any reason or logic behind why those two were not shiny locked? Maybe because the rest of the family were previously released as shiny?

That list is very much bs, but you also can't use this logic. Zama didn't get body press in swsh yet gained it here. So it's definitely possible for pult. Likely? I have my doubts. But it's possible.

the running thought with most (though not all) shiny locks since gen 5 or so is they don't show up in cutscenes, everyone else did

the 2 regi were the only ones not featured in cutscenes in SWSH

The loyal 3 aren't categorized as legendary Pokemon on the Japanese website, though, just lumped in with Dipplin and Poltchageist. Might not save them from shiny locks according to the cutscene hypothesis that RN mentioned, though (and maybe they'll still end up being categorized as sub-legendary in code).

In fairness to that they do like the distinction between "Legendary"-legendary and "sublegend"-legendary
Even base SV does this to an extent; the Ruinous legends only get referred to as "legend" in their...theme music...? (& Code names which were sublegend1234, which for this trio I presume to be something like loyal3A B C or something)

I'd still be pretty surprised if they were classified as "normal" Pokemon, though.... Maybe if the big twist is there's a bunch of them like the Paradoxes. That'd be funny.
 
Yeah it's likely the Loyal Three are sub-legendaries but in those cases are not officially classified as full on "Legendary" in promotional material.

I remember in the SM pre-release period when Tapu Koko was revealed that it wasn't called a legendary in any capacity, while Solgaleo and Lunala were. As it turned out, Tapu Koko and its fellow three guardian deities are sub-legendaries and still act as minor legendaries a la the trend set by Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, but they opted not to call it one to distinguish it from Solgaleo and Lunala who are major legendaries and part of the "special" category of legendary Pokemon who have a distinct set of rules imposed on them.

This does raise questions with Ogerpon, however, as to whether it's actually a major legendary. Urshifu in the Isle of Armor back in SwSh was a sub-legendary while Calyrex was a major legendary.

Ogerpon may or may not be a sub-legendary or possibly a major legendary, but it would be interesting if it turned out to actually be a major special legendary.

With how much more emphasis it's getting, and how it's not getting the "you'll be able to bring it into online competitions!" note that Urshifu got, I'd be more surprised it was a Sublegend than I would the Loyal 3 were normal pokemon.

I would definitely still argue that the Galar Birds have way more fans than Urshifu and Calyrex. Calyrex specifically I mostly just see get made fun of for having a big onion on his head.

Also, can I just say I hate Okidogi's design? He looks like the unholy fusion of the doge meme crossed with a minor villain in an Alicesoft game.

that’s always been beyond lame, especially when said legendaries are usually only available as time-exclusive mystery gifts.
 
So posting here cos its more active than the main thread, just noticed scrolling randomly through Bulbapedia the Sinnoh starters are listed as available in Teal Mask - is this true? If so I think I’ll defs make a new profile with it as part of my team - experience the DLC straight post treasure hunt and then do it later on my main save.
