Metagame SCL I Doubles OU Discussion [$50 + Discord Nitro Prize]

Getting this done early since I'm being productive anyway. Last week was wild we saw a lot of interesting teams that could definitely change the meta as a whole. Hopefully we keep seeing the builder get pushed and punish safe building, something that normally isn't done much in DOU for these tours. Anyway more detailed predictions:
[TMS] Nails vs YoBuddy [FOX] - Nails has finally shown some weakness last week. Spurrific is a great player so it wasn't the craziest upset, but still someone was able to take down Nick which is a good sign for the other players left to fight him. Despite the loss, Nick didn't play bad and his team was actually pretty cool. Of course he did pull out the ghost horse vs a double dark team which is rough, Nick can't get favorable match ups for some reason. YoBuddy on the other hand had good positions multiple times in his game and gave them up constantly. It was a real weird game to watch since I felt he actually had a great shot of beating Qwello if played right, but misplays brought him to a loss. You can't misplay vs Nails he will just take advantage of that. Nails may have lost last week but this is an easy bold still.
[GIB] Paraplegic vs Actuarily [TER] - Kind of a shame to see Zee out after having to fight two of the stronger opponents in the field. Actuarily didn't look that bad when they got to play so this change may be for the best. Para's building went from insane to using whatever was going on last week again. I think its fair to say he was a little lost in the builder vs Z Strats and so that team was the result. This will be what hurts Para for this match as Actuarily hasn't played in two weeks so he doesn't have a solid foundation to go off of again. The match will come down to if we see a team like he used vs Z Strats and stax again, and with what the past has shown us I'm leaning towards it will.
[PLA] Z Strats vs Frania [SHO] - Z Strats wins in another weird game where luck made it easier late game. However, there was a blind hypnosis hit early on so it may have evened out, idk either way the game was a mess. Frania had a pretty tight game where I felt some misplays ended up leading to the loss. I thought both teams were pretty good but I don't think either were anything special. I'm just going to go with the 4-0 who somehow finds a way.
[DYN] Qwello Lee vs Spurrific [BRE] - This would probably seem like an upset but Justin is just good at the game. He played really well vs Nails and his team choices are diverse compared to his usual same team syndrome he is known for. Qwello has been making it look easy for the past few weeks but I'd argue we saw a little weakness this time. He didn't play bad at all but his typical straight up bulk squad teams almost got abused last week. I feel this is Spurrific's time to prove how good he actually is again, and Qwello is a perfect player to prove it against. But yea if Qwello wins I wont be shocked he is super solid.
[SPA] stax vs Mishimono [ISL] - Goat.

[TMS] Nails vs YoBuddy [FOX] - YoBuddy is getting the zeefable treatment getting subbed into two really tough opponents his first two games. Nails did end up actually losing last week and while you can maybe blame a timely para for this I think Nails could've played a bit better and Spurrific was able to take advantage of some sub optimal plays for the win. On the other hand though I think YoBuddy got thoroughly outplayed by Qwello and played pretty badly giving Qwello the win. Nails is just the better player in general too so I'm obviously just bolding Nails.
[GIB] Paraplegic vs Actuarily [TER] - I could really see this going anyway if zee was still in I'd bold her but the team decided to sub her out to back Actuarily back in. Para has fished the last two weeks and gotten matchup both times but last game he threw away arguably his most important mon t1 and then let Kyube die next and didn't focus Zap when he probably should've allowing for two mons to came back from 2-5 for a win. That said though Actuarily is coming back from being benched and did not have the strongest showings in the two weeks he played. I'll bold Para here because he has been getting matchup recently and has more experience.
[PLA] Z Strats vs Frania [SHO] - Undefeated in SS in DPL Z Strats vs. Lost in SS in DPL Frania. This is a clear Z Strats win
[DYN] Qwello Lee vs Spurrific [BRE] - Highlight match for sure Qwello has been lights out since losing to me week 1 and has shown no signs of slowing down, however Spurrific ended Nails undefeated streak and is also of similar skill level. Both played well last week and while Qwello has the better record, I can see Spurrific bringing some cool stuff against Qwello that can get him the win again just like he did against Nails really could go either way though.
[SPA] stax vs Mishimono [ISL] - Another really fun and interesting match between two players who are 2-2. Stax started to look like stax again last week bringing a more creative team that still seemed solid and playing well to grab the win. Mishi brought a slightly less offensive team than usual but the game still ended up playing very much like an offense game and Mishi was able to play well enough to beat Frania there. I'm giving it to stax here because I think stax is starting to get more comfortable with the meta and I have very good faith that stax and lunar will be able to punish some of Mishi's building tendencies.

Yeah agree with Z Strats, your SCL debut being last year's top of the pool + circuit winner into projected number 1 is a rough break. Nails showed that he can actually lose games last week, but I rate burns much higher than I do qwello. I've really liked the teams the TMs core has been cooking too. YoBuddy and Memo are going to have to step up big to pull off this upset

Bolding against Z Strats is kind of turning like bolding against Nails as he emerges the sole undefeated player of the pool. I still think Frania has the potential to win almost any game in the pool but he's just having such a hard time capturing that magic, whereas emma and ray are likely putting in overtime on these builds and are making very few mistakes.

Highlight match of this week and I'm honestly scared to put down a bold. Gonna give the slight edge to burns here for being a more involved teambuilder, but this is the game you won't wanna miss this week.

stax kinda beat the fuck out of me last week so I'm obliged to suck up and bold him. In all seriousness, he did mention that he's building his own stuff and it's been doing okay. His playmaking skills are definitely a little rusty still but I think with any semblance of a good matchup he probably still can outplay mishi.
