The general consensus on how chaining shinies works:
Every time you increase your current chain by 1, the chance you'll find a shiny goes up by x+1/8192. If you've chained, lets say, 50 in a row, you have a 50/8192 chance to find one, or around a one in 164 chance.
Also, for solo shinies:
Just because you've run into 8192 Pokemon doesn't mean you'll get a shiny. You could have goose egg, or 8192 shinies. The chance is 1/8192 for each separate Pokemon, it doesn't pool together (sans chaining).
So if the chain works as you say, technically, you can get to the point where you'd be encountering a shiny every time?
That would, of course be after you've chained 8192 pokemon. Quite frankly, it sounds impossible, and even more so impractical.
You could have goose egg, or 8192 shinies.
I just thought I'd put a specific figure on that...However, your math is still wrong. As you mentioned there's a 1/8192 chance that a SINGLE pokemon will be shiny. For you to get 8192 shinies, the odds are worse than winning the lottery in a plane crash.
I felt inadequate,
I found a shiny zubat while speed EV training in Fire Red.
However, it became the badass pink crobat to subdue my enemies with.
Since then, i've found a legitimate shiny magikarp (brave) while speed EV training in DP, and then a shiny lotad in emerald.
So i feel much better now.
