Shiny HUNTING?

i hunt for a specific pokemon usin the pokeradar,though iv caught both my shinies by pure luck when i wasnt even looking for them.LOL

quoting my self to say iv gotten a shiny Cubone this morning with the pokeradar,the Cubone was my swarm pokemon.

I nabbed 9 shinies over a three day span last week, and never once was I able to do it while scanning (what's become the common term for resetting over and over looking for the shiny patch o' grass). I've had absolutely 0 luck with it, I simply continue to chain until it breaks.
 
You should stop and only scan when your chain reaches around 40.

That way, your chances of getting a shiny is pretty good and your chain can't break...as long as you don't do anything stupid like stepping on the wrong patch accidentally.
 
i've been able to to catch two shinies with the pokeradar. first was a voltorb (chain broke at 69) and then lickitung (chain broke at 48). then last week i randomly hatched an adamant shiny chimchar.
 
Hrmmm... I know it's a bit off-topic, but can anyone find an accurate translation of that Japanese site with the special "event" weathers? I saw a thunderstorm once, but I'm wondering if the sandstorm/rain/dust ever clears up for a day or two. Getting a Beldum swarm on a sandstorm free day would be a sign that Jesus loves you...
 
I don't have the patience for this madness. I have a few shinies but only by luck - I'd never waste any time with the PokeRadar.

Gyarados (Gold) - duh
Arbok (Gold) - Bought it from the Game Corner randomly
Growlithe (Gold) - I can't believe it didn't Roar
Drowzee (Gold) - This one got away
Crobat (Ruby) - Was training on Victory Road
Azurill (Diamond) - Hatched randomly
 
Every time I chain. EVERY TIME

It gets broken by a Bidoof.

The only shiny I ever caught by myself is a stupid Impish Shinx when I was gonna capture a Bidoof that SePh wants.
 
I was able to chain 49 Meditite and was able to nab a shiny one. It's hardy >_>

I'm just waiting for an Electrike swarm so I can get me a Shiny Manectric, the coolest looking Pokemon in existance.

Static would theoretically shoo away those Shellos and stuff, right? Although... I guess that ups my chances of being violated anally by a Pachirisu...
 
I've never had any luck with shinies myself. I still don't own one from the wild or breeding going over 300 hours on pearl and had even more on sapphire/emerald combined, but I don't care to check those right now.
 
I´ve got 2 pokeradar shinys, both shinx, had too few repels (like 255 or something) for getting more, chain ended at 98.
Took some time to learn to not make those mistakes that might happen.
I was thinking, maybe the item cleanse tag helps with shinyhunting, would´nt it be nice when it´s even harder to break the chain?
 
I've tried chaining so many times. My highest chain was 40 something Shinx, only to be broken by a Starly. My swarm Pokémon today is Electrike; I really want a shiny one.
 
After doing Radar hunting I've gotten a lot better in getting chains to Lv40. Upon reaching 40 I stop chaining and just reset it until I see a shiny patch and repeat.

My first Shiny was a Budew, then I got a Bronzor, and then got lucky with a Ditto at Chain 4 :0 Then when I started getting in the groove of things I caught 6 Nosepass in the same chain and then 5 Roselia. Right now I am going insane reseting trying to get a shiny Heatran lol
 
heh, i tried doing this, and i failed...i cant seem to do anything right =/ the highest chain i got was 17 bibarel, only shiny i caught in DP is giratina.
 
OMG don't evenn try going for Electrike. Its animation is like 15 seconds of it moving its mouth up and down. It's so frustrating. It took me a long time to get a high chain that decided to get broken by Mareep. Only shiny I ever caught in ADV/DP was Whismur while Ditto hunting in Emerald.
 
I have captured shiny nosepass (pretty sweet looking, Impish, Magnet Pull).
Eevee (Brave X_X Great IV's for a freaking Flareon)
Adamant Beldum (0 ATA IV but everything else is fine)
Timid Beldum (0 HP IV but everything else is fine)
3 Absols in the same chain. Despite synchronizing (which I HIGHLY recommend to anywone doing the pokeradar method) none of them were adamant, and the one that was neutral nature and decent IV's had Pressure instead of super luck.
2 Bidoofs. One I sacked into when my chain was at 3.
Phanpy, hardy.
Magnemite (Modest, again a 0 in HP, with Magnet Pull)

To anybody using this method, definitely bring a pkmn with Synchronize and the nature you want your shiny to have. Make sure your Synchronizer is a high enough level to allow your repel to work. Also, Static is useful if searching for an electric type, I use Electabuzz. Magnet Pull works on Steel types, I use Probopass and Magnezone. I don't think any other abilities help you get Pokemon of certain types.

If you're going to chain Beldum I have some words of wisdom.
Use a masterball. It WILL kill itself with struggle eventually. I've had TWO shiny Beldums die to struggle, despite false swiping it and hypnosis-Gengar. 40 balls was not enough. Also, if you ARE persistent enough to do this you may have to change the time of day near midnight each night so that your swarm doesn't change. Any sandstorm (other than heavy snow) is the hardest to see through, it's damn near impossible. I found it easier to see in the morning than any other time. And I recommend against chaining in heavy snow, it IS impossible to see.

I got a shiny Roselia while chaining before. But to my surprise, it's patch didn't glow or sparkle in a special way at all, which was kinda weird. But hey, it's Timid with 29 in SpAtk. Whoop!

And omg, why didn't I think of Magnet Pull for Magnezone. AGH, I kept using Static and that fucking Squirrel keeps breaking my chain.
 
i have bad luck with chaining above 12. but, i have caught 2 shines while doing that. only thing i have noticed is that i completed 3-4 chains of 10+, then a shiny came along. might also be luck, or coincidence. either way, i will try again this weekend.
 
I've had like 3 chains of 40 Larvitar, all broken because I was greedy and tried going higher instead of resetting the Radar.
Caught Shiny Meditite at 9.
Caught Shiny Skitty at 41.
My highest chain right now is 42 Miltank, but I wasn't really trying to get a shiny there, just seeing how high I could get a chain. :P I'm going to try for a Vulpix tonight.

I just got a modest one :3

I had a chain of 48 of those jerks, then my chain broke because I was watching TV and didn't notice my repel wore off ... but then I started again and got it at like 27. Score.
