Small Forum Updates

We've added a Discord ban appeal forum, which can be used for bans from both the main Smogon server and any server listed in the Discord side server directory. We haven't had a streamlined way to handle these so far, so hopefully this will come in handy.

Rather than using conventional threads, in order to make sure all threads are formatted cleanly, the forum uses a form (which can be accessed through where normally the "Post new thread" button is found), which then posts a user's replies as a thread into the forum. Similarly to infraction appeals and PS! discipline appeals, threads can only be viewed by Discord staff + community leaders and above and by the user posting them.
Infraction Appeals has been changed to post threads through a form as well; here too it can be accessed through an "Appeal your infraction" button that's found where you normally see "Post new thread". Here too the idea is to streamline the process by formatting appeals better and filtering out threads that should be posted elsewhere (e.g. PS appeals) more easily.

This setup may still be subject to change because right now ban appeals are kind of shoehorned into it, but that's no reason to hold off on making this change altogether.

The Site Staff badge was renamed to Site Content Manager this week to convey more clearly what it actually means and what powers it gives. If you notice any stickies or guides that I failed to update then lmk.

The Admin Reports forum has been overhauled to cover both Smogon Forums and Pokemon Showdown; as such it has been relocated under Information & Resources. This allows the Smogon Senior Staff team (Supermods+) and PS! Administrators to work together on reports for better communication and quicker resolutions. See this thread for an overview of how the forum works.

Note to badgeholders: Senior Staff requests will remain open and continue to process requests such as complaints about specific forum elements, issues with various facets of Smogon leadership, or other miscellaneous issues that are only pertinent to the forums. However, reports of misconduct by users or groups should now be directed to Admin Reports.

Following valid concerns from staff members, we've made a slight change to the way the form / forum handle ban appeals; these have been spun off to a separate form (which is found under the "Ban Appeals" link forum in the infraction appeals sub), and the original form is now only used for infractions and other punishments on the user filling it out. Specifically, the way the form formatted thread titles meant that it would put the name of the proxy user submitting the appeal in the thread title, rather than the name of the banned user, and the only way to get non-confusing titles was to make a separate form outright. Nothing else will change; banned users will still need to find someone else to appeal on their behalf, and these appeals will still be posted in the infraction appeals sub.

Smogon now supports Discord-style timestamps that display the time in the viewer's timezone, as reported by the browser. You can use a tool like https://r.3v.fi/discord-timestamps/ to get a date to paste.

Right now the date display format is not customizable. It will always be like "long date with short time" in that tool. If necessary we could support all the modes.

After the forum software was updated in September, Spooky and Festive both ended up needing a bit of a makeover in order to be usable. After working on them for a few days, they're both available for you to use once more, as well as two new Smogon Darker styles - Purple and Blue variants - and there are examples of all four at the bottom of the post.

Please use the Forum Style Bug Reports Thread to report issues you may find with them, including screenshots (and a description).

As Spooky and Festive both have a bit more customization than the new Darker styles, they aren't necessarily as future-proofed and likely may require a full rebuild in future upgrades, but for now, they are usable.

Support for just the time has been added, as so <t:1740363660:t>. Select the corresponding option in https://r.3v.fi/discord-timestamps/
