CAP 2 Smogon "Create a Pokemon" Part Deux

And there is also the possibility that we make an evolution of a Pokemon, then Nintendo make their own evolution of the same Pokemon making ours unnecessary.

Why is it so bad? It fits perfectly with Nintendo's whole Snorlax idea. It works like Gallade/Gardevoir, my idea being the rival of Snorlax. It works well competitivly. It works very well Flavour wise. I don't understand. Can you back it up with reasoning?
 
It's almost entirely unnecessary and Munchlax shows no evidence of Steel. You also went overboard by designing 3 possible new abilities and 2 new attacks. Gormenghast said something about creative moderation, you lacked that.

Stuff like that post is what makes me afraid of evolving stuff.
 
I never said anything about the abilities and "Gut Punch" being set in stone. The only thing I wanted to keep was the design/concept and Bell Toll. Also, my question is, how does a Kirlia/Ralts show signs of fighting? Giving it Steel would make it less over-powered a stoppable. With it only being Normal, it has only 1 weakness. With Steel it has a few.

EDIT: This is what I meant about actually looking into what I posted before shutting down my idea. I remmber saying that the Concept and Bell Toll was the only ting I wanted to keep, and that since this was for polls, get rid of everything else.

I didn't really read the whole Warlax idea (it looked stupid), but I do know that it required new items and ridiculous evolution requirements, which we don't want to submit to GF. Plus, the whole point of this program is to build pokemon from scratch, not suggest fully made pokemon and have people agree with them.

Right there you should have stopped posting. Before saying anything, you should read the entire thing. I said nothing is set in stone. The only thing that should be kept is the concept/"Bell Toll". I said the abilities/name/moveset/Dex Entries/etc. should be changed. They were just ideas.

Ok. So subtract the getting hit with "Gut Punch while holding a Gong item" and make it level up while holding Gong item. THat is exactly how GF does it most of the time. Maybve even trade it with Giong item.
Plus, the whole point of this program is to build pokemon from scratch, not suggest fully made pokemon and have people agree with them.

Gengar, for one, you are the only one perpetrating your idea. It will easily lose in a poll.

Just stop. Please. I can't say, oh, we are now making a Munchlax evo. People have to want it. They don't. STOP.

Gender Ratio: 50-50
Type: Normal/Steel
Evolution: If a Munchlax is holding the "Gong" item and is hit by a Gut Punch it will evolve after the battle.
Location: Evolve Munchlax while holding Gong.
Abilities:
-Thick Fat: Halves Damage from Ice and Fire type moves.
For the second one, I had a few choices, one of which I know for a fact will be denied:
A). Iron Gut: Any damage from recoil, sansdstorm, hail, toxic, burn and self-inflicted HP loss is halved.
B). Gluttony: Berries are consumed at 50% or less.
or
C). Charging: Each time this Pokemon inflicts more than 100% damage, this Pokemon takes 5% damage.
Base Stats: 112/40/95/30/70/30
Description of how it looks: Since I can't seem to make a decent Image, I might as well explain how I invisioned it. It basically has the same shape as Snorlax. But, It has a war helmet on its head and a large GONG protecting its belly. It has the same feet as Snorlax, but its hands are a tad different. It has the same arms, but it has a clenched fist with two metal spike coming from its fists, like Knuckels. Hope that can help. Oh and the Gong is worn like Armour, so there are straps.

Flavour Text:
1). [Insert Name here] are known to have sharp hearing. Any noise could potentially set it off into an incredibly fast and near-unstoppable rampage.
2). Because of its war-like attitude, this POKEMON despises the laid-back attitude of Snorlax. If a MUNCHLAX evolves into a SNORLAX, this POKEMON will immediatly challenge it in the wild.

New Moves:

1). Bell Toll

Bp: ---
Accuracy: ---
Effect: While sacrificing HP, this Pokemon's Atk and speed are maxed.
Secondary Effect: 75% of the users HP are lost and Atk and Speed are maxed.
Other Pokemon that can learn this: Bronzong, Chimecho and Cleffa

2). Gut Punch

Bp: 75
Accuracy: 100
Effect: May cause confusion.
Secondary Effect: 10% chance of causing confusion.
Other Pokemon that can learn: Hitmonchan, any Normal Pokemon.

Egg Groups: Mineral and Monster.

Explaination to why these moves and Pokemon etc.:
OK, I felt that Snorlax, whilst being a very good Wall, isn't good at anything else. WarLax [or anothr name] is a little more flexible. At first I thought Bell toll would be too over powered to make it lose 50% Hp, so I played around with percentages and thought 75% was probab;y the best option. Now, I would make it impossible to get Thick Fat with this, so If ability C was chosen, it wouldn't be nearly as overpowered. I added the 2nd move so Normal gets a punch and so this POkemon gets a reliable, good STAB. The Flavour Text i added works very well with the Bell Toll move. For the base stats, I didn't want to make it too strong in Atk and Speed, so that once BELL TOLL is used, it also won't be too overpowered. I gave it nice Defeneses and Hp so if you don't want to go BellyDrum-esque you can make it a wall. Im making it so BELL TOLL is an Egg Move, so when you trade over your Munchlax, it doesn't get Thick Fat and it won't be too overpowered and barely stoppable. So Bell Toll + Thick Fat would be illegal in-game, but viable in Shoddy, unless we could make it where you can't get both. Gut Punch is both a Level up move AND Egg movee, so either one would not be iilegal. This move would be granted to Bronzong and Chimecho as level up moves. I gave it the Mineral Egg group to get Bell Toll from Bronzong.

I really hope you take this into consideration. I thought about this all day, trying to not make it Uber material, but good enough to be in OU. PLease, please, PLEASE take this into consideration. Im going to find someone to sprite or make a Pic of this ASAP.

This is precicely the kind of insane "lets evolve X" stuff I don't want to get into. I pulled this from poll 14. Gengar is retracting a lot of it now saying it isn't neccesarry, and he's saying the 75% Super Duper Belly Drum move is a must-keep.

That whole thing was a big "dude wtf" moment for me.

You keep bringing up this Warlax idea. It's obvious you like it a LOT, and you have spent a lot of time on the idea. Let me lay out a hypothetical on this, and maybe you'll see why you probably shouldn't keep pushing this. BTW, this applies to everyone out there with full-formed Pokemon ideas that you would like to present to this project.

So, you have your Warlax idea right? So, let's assume a couple of things happen that work in your favor: "New Evo" wins this poll and Munchlax wins as the target pre-evo in the next poll. That's a big long-shot at this point, but we'll assume your lobbying is sufficient to get people on your side.

Now we move to typing, art, moves, etc. At that point polls start going against your vision of this thing. You're gonna hate it. You'll probably flame hard that people are ruining "your" idea. Other people are going to come up with art, movesets, and stats very different than you -- and everyone else is going to LOVE it. In fact, let's say JoeShmoe57 comes up with the most kick-ass artwork we've ever seen. But, it just doesn't look like a belly-drummer AT ALL. You push your Belly Drum idea, and everyone mocks you because it doesn't fit "JoeSchmoe's Pokemon". Imagine how pissed you will be when other people start fucking up your creation, getting accolades for it, and you become the idiot that keeps making stupid suggestions! Wouldn't that suck completely?

If you think your lovingly-crafted pokemon idea will slide through multiple polls and discussions and NOT look completely different at the end -- you are deluding yourself. The only way a fully-formed idea will STAY full-formed, is if we vote on it as a complete pokemon. That's not gonna happen. We will be putting this together in pieces. As such, any notion of where this pokemon will end up -- is an exercise in futility.

When we started the Syclant project, almost everyone imagined it would have Megahorn. Guess what? It didn't happen. And NOT just because of Cyzir's art (which had a justifiable horn, btw), but also because of stats, abilities, etc.

If you think we will end up with a Normal/Steel pokemon, named Warlax, based on Belly Drum, with a special move called Bell Toll, yada, yada, yada -- you are wasting your time. "Your idea" will get derailed very quickly and you'll be upset.

The reason for this is (get ready for capitals) -- IT'S NOT YOUR IDEA, IT'S OUR IDEA. And the only way it is "our" idea, is if we come up with it in steps, with little pieces contributed by lots of people. I don't care if I read your Warlax idea and it was so good it made lightning shoot out of my asshole -- it's not our idea. It's not community created. And, if it turned out that the polls started leaning in that direction, and you became attached to it, you will be doubly-pissed when the community starts "messing it up".

So, to everyone (not just GengarCrysis) leafing through all their schoolboy notebooks and sketchpads, digging up their "greatest pokemon concept EVER" -- please stop.

Just vote on "new pokemon" or "pre-evo", provide reasoning, and MAYBE make a suggestion as to what should be in the next poll. That's it. Not two or three polls ahead. Stop trying to persuade the whole community to vote "your way" for multiple consecutive polls. Because it won't happen. And, if your idea for three polls ahead, only makes sense if the next two polls go a certain way -- then it's really a waste of time to push it now.
 
NEW POKEMON

A new evo would just cause arguments over which pokemon should get one. The votes would be close, and we would have people whining about how Farfetch'd only got one more than Banette. Before long, we would find either people losing interest in the whole process, or ourselves creating more and more new evolutions of good UU pokemon.

Multiple new evos could actually work, but I think we should only create new pokemon. Think of the effort and creativity that went into Syclant. Would we get the same satisfaction from Tentaghoul? I would rather create new ideas than argue over who should get an evolution.

Also, I've always wanted to see a Ghost/Fire, Ghost/Rock or Ghost/Ground pokemon, and I can't think of anyone who would evolve into those.

Scylant is an extremely original idea the closest pokemon to it is Scyther. I say we use a completely orignial type scheme, something that hasn't been done. Maybe, Ghost/Dragon?
 
I don't think farfetch'd getting a fighting type is "without a basis", most of it's dex entries mention it using it's leek as a sword, and fighting over nice leeks.

Also Deck Knight a stupid "Let's evolve THIS poké~!" is just as likely as as stupid Made up Poké. Warlax is p. funny, but isn't really a good argument against a new evo. I'm sure i could find an equivalent ridiculous new poke to ocunter the warlax example..

Anyways, regardless of what happens, I'm hoping we get a better typing than last time.

Fight/Fly, Fight/ghost, bug psychic, dark fight, fire/dragon would all be cool imo!

Either an evo to an old Poke or a whole new one is fine. Nintendo's not going to accept any of them anyway, so we can forget about problems relating to making them want it.
