Smogon Damage Calculator Released!

THis will definitely help me in training for the National Pokemon Video Game Championsip. Hopefully it helps me enough to where I earn an invite to Worlds. Thanks a bunch!

This may not be a good thing to ask here...but what about Gastro Acid? Even if it is unlikely to appear in play at all, it should still be considered in the Calculator's options.

However, the Calculator works very well, and over here, it has little lag (while the calculator gathers the numbers it's looking for on a Pokemon) and is superb in it's Item selection. MetalKid's calculator didn't go as far as to implement every holdable item, this one does, so it feels more complete.

Excellent work there!

When do the movesets in the calc update? Yesterday, I changed the name of the SpecsJolt set in the SCMS to Specs (to test the calc), but nothing changed in the calc.

Just posting to thank you guys for making this invaluable tool! The auto-complete feature and concise nature of the design are really convenient.

Are you referring to the option to turn off your opponent's Ability? You can just select "blank" to turn off the Ability. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you mean, as Gastro Acid does no damage whatsoever.

Just a quick question: I didn't found Reversal anywhere. Am i searching wrong or...

Reversal was coded as a Variable Move, but somewhere I forgot to include the move name in the list of all moves. I just fixed it.

Report bugs like that in this thread:

The movesets are read from the Smogon DB and parsed, but I have not yet linked it into the caching mechanism of the SCMS. For now, I have to run a job to pick up the updated movesets. We'll get the automatic update working soon.

I mean this, say the previous turn, before Scizor attacked ("What the heck?" I know...) Gastro Acid was used and so Bullet Punch is not augmented by Technician anymore...or is that what you are talking about?

I look forward to this! In the meanwhile, however, I suppose I'll just have to let you know if major changes to movesets have been made.

Just for the fact that it actually works for an iPod Touch (Which is a very Blue Moon moment), you recieve my seal of approval. Thanks for the calc.

its not on the smogon website, so why would it be in the calc yet? as doug just answered, we'll have the set updating mechanism in place in due time.

anyway, i said this on irc yesterday after a similar comment by chrisisme, but this calculator literally makes me want to play pokemon, specifically doubles even though i have yet to do a doubles calc. i think the universal sign of a good "accessory" when there are several other choices is that it makes you want to use it more than the object it's supposed to be accessorizing. like a fantastic pair of basketball shoes whose fantastic looks are only outdone by their functionality. or a great fountain pen that feels perfect in his hand, writes boldly and sharply, and actually makes him want to scribe a masterpiece. or the perfect bikini that makes her look fresh out of the latest sports illustrated swimsuit issue, turning as many heads as would the magazine's pages.

sure, there are other shoes, and pens, and bathing suits, but why use or wear anything else when you know what's best for you?

Holy crap, thank you.
Just curious, will there also be Little Cup functionality? I mean, this is great as is but I'm just curious if there's some to come.

On the calculator, just set everyone's level to 5 if you're using LC Pokes. Can be found under Other.

For moves that hit more than one Pokémon at once, look under Attacker's Options, and check Two Vs Two.

If anyone has been having problems with menus opening "underneath" other parts of the calculator -- I made some changes to the menu framework that should fix the problems. If you are one of the people that had the problem, just reload your calculator and it should be fixed.

Just wanting to say that this calculator is amazing.

It's so fast and easy to use that I can even run calcs it in the middle of wifi battles, in the matter of seconds. So it's really useful for us wifi battlers too :]

thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for the calculator guys.

Before, it would take me upwards of 1-2 minutes to perform a calculation. Now, its about 15-30 seconds.

Great job!

Something I've noticed Libelldra has that this calculator doesn't: % of OHKOing/2HKOing the opponent. Do you plan on adding that in the future?

Wow, I just realised you can add more Pokemon! So you can check how a single attacker hits multiple defenders, or vice versa. Genius feature.
