Smogon Damage Calculator Released!

The average user really doesn't care about that stuff, and I could have saved a TON of time by blowing it off. But, that's not how I roll -- so I added lots of visual flourishes here and there, and jumped through hoops the get the layout "just right" -- mostly just to satisfy my inner obsessive-compulsive quirks.

DougJustDoug: He rolls better than the average user.

Thanks for this, I'm glad I have one where I can avoid adding up the number myself. ^_^

Gah...I forgot about Power Tricked Shuckle. I think that is the strongest after all. Bulbapedia mentions it in Shuckle's article

I'm not sure if it would be actually possible to pull this off though. Metronome only activates when Rollout is selected. Meaning the defending team has to survive not nine, but FORTY-NINE Rollouts before bringing the victim in. I think Steelix with Rest might do it though, paired with something with Aromatherapy/Heal Bell and Reflect. You won't always survive the 7th, 8th, and 9th 5th-turn rollouts though, so you need three Steelix.

And yeah, I admit this is sort off-topic. And totally irrelevant to competitive battling. But it's kind of cool, and a nice way to test out the calculator.

You also have to take into account Rollout's 90 Accuracy... correct me if I'm wrong, but this means there's only a 0.9^50 = 0.51% chance of hitting ALL the Rollouts.

I not only wanted the calc to be accurate and powerful -- but I also wanted it to look nice and clean. I am very meticulous about visuals; maybe it's because of my art background or something. So I spent insane amounts of time noodling over colors and the exact spacing of things.
On the contrary, for most software the average user cares ONLY about how it looks and how easy it is to use. You were right to spend the time on appearance and usability. It could give (slightly) inaccurate answers, and a lot of people wouldn't really be bothered (*cough*Excel*cough*statistical functions*cough*).

You also have to take into account Rollout's 90 Accuracy... correct me if I'm wrong, but this means there's only a 0.9^50 = 0.51% chance of hitting ALL the Rollouts.
Actually, that probably makes the task easier. I don't think missing breaks the Metronome chain, so you'll expect to get to 10 much more quickly.
Of course, there's always Gravity to get round that anyway.

PC++ thanks for Doug! Libelldra was getting really old, and I love how everything updates live and generally kicks ass. It's like there's nothing the calculator doesn't have, yet it's still simple and quick (something I always seem to have a problem with on other calculators).

Doug, you just proved yourself the best damn Poke-dad in the whole world.

Like, seriously. I don't have to switch between three websites just so I could see the effectiveness of my Baton-pass team. (I'm over-reliant on MetalKid and Smogon and Serebii).

Merry Christmas, Everybody, especially you, Doug.

Thank you, this is a lot quicker than opening a new Shoddy team and using one of the other calculators.

And max Attack Naughty Skitty's Wood Hammer does a maximum of 69.4% to the standard Naive Wailord.

You also have to keep in mind that Ledian is four times weak to rock as opposed to Shedinga's two times weak. From Ledian, I got 342171900% - 402555200%. From Shedinga, I got 2053031400% - 2415331200%.

Also, it does it in both percentage and HP.

Yea shedinja's calculation has one more place value, meaning it's more.

Fuck yes, this is the most useful damage calculator I have seen yet. No longer will I have to risk running out of time in a Ladder match finding out both Pokémon's stats and inputting them as well as all the other information manually into a damage calculator - my internet fucking lags, and I have run out of time quite a few times trying to calculate damage at a crucial time.

One tiny thing though, is if one is using a different nature or item to the first one on the set (e.g. if DD Tar has a Jolly Nature and/or Babiri Berry), they have to type it in or search for it in those lists (which is especially annoying if they "have" to type it exactly right on their first try or go back to the top and try again until they do), while with the list for Ability, the one or two abilities the Pokémon can have are highest on the list, which would be a little smidge more convenient for the Nature and Item.

Most importantly, you've brought joy to thousands of people with slow internet connections! At Christmas!

(Actually that last bit is unimportant.)

One more thing: the boosts, other, and options boxes for the Pokémon Form on the right are slightly wider - by about one or two pixels - than those on the left. This is the same for the 4th, 6th, etc. Pokémon Form's boxes. It isn't important though. A slightly more important nitpick is that the Help feature does not have a Next and Previous button, so each time you want to go to the next page, you have to click Contents then click the next Topic.

!
This is great. It's a good thing you don't mind doing these kinds of things, it certainly makes a lot of people happy.

Will the CAP's perhaps be added in future?

This is a very useful damage calculator, and it made my life a bit easier. Thank you so much, this is officially the best calc out here. Also, when are the sets going to be updated?
