Smogon Shoddy is up

Wouldn't it be possible to make the ranking after the rating estimate again?
It's for example quite dumb that you can lose 200 rating points if you win >70% of your matches and your rating just raises for ~10 points for a 8 wins streak @__@

In the new rating system, rating estimate won't be even needed. :) It hasn't been implemented yet though, so be patient.
 
Reverted to older rating system because of the mass chaos it caused. Also, that cleared the leaderboard, so those who were complaining about people laddering with banned Pokemon in UU can stop now! ;)
 
I do think so people care too much about ratings and less about fun come on guys.
and thank god for ladder reset means all those stupid snover repeat battles are not tarnishing my rating anymore
 
Actually you only need to have a single match and you instantly are put on the leaderboard with your shoddy score (as long as it puts you within the top 50 of course)

I lost my first match and was instantly like #11 or something lol


so yeah, UU NFE complainers can carry on complaining >_>

The ladder reset finally tempted me enough to get back into serious laddering. =O

It's probably a bit overdue, but awesome job, Doug and chaos.

It would certainly seem so.

Hitting "connect" doesn't do anything, and what I'm looking at says there's no one on any server.

I don't think I've seen that x/200, before, though. It's always been x/100, IIRC.

Weird.

EDIT: It looks like the official server's working great but the Smogon server is lagging.
 
Yes I have the same problem. I would have to assume their is some maintenence going on in the Smogon server, although it says that 17/200 people are online, so I don't know.
 
I don't think the Shoddy battle server is releasing file handles properly... we have to look into it.

Please don't ask any questions about it - we will tell you when we fix it.
 
Just wanted to say thanks to whoever is hosting and remark upon just how smoothly the Smogon server seems to be working. Very, very fast response time on everything and I haven't experienced any lag yet.

Isn't it great =) No lag, quick ladder matches, and Jumpman16 is on all the time now yay!
 
I apologize if this has been answered before, but will the Smogon server be releasing usage statistics? If so I will be very interested in seeing the differences in usage between Smogons servers and the Official Shoddy server. In the short time the server has been up it almost seems like a slightly different metagame. Kind of like Smogons Netbattle server vs. all those Brazilian ones.

I noticed the same thing. In my short time on Official today because of Smogon's server being down, I faced Crobat's, Electivire, Regirock, and other BL's. Out of all my matches, none of the teams were like the ones I faced on Smogon's server.

I noticed the metagame on official server is really lacking, most players don't have a point to there teams and play for the sake of playing. I didn't lose any matches there except one vs wobba trap team. My new team was made for a different metagame that doesn't involve wobba. Yet when facing wobba I saw how interrupted the battle was, and how out of place wobba was.

In my opinion all the best players come from smogon, so now that smogon server is down it is easier to notice how most the shoddy battlers on official server who do well are from smogon.
